Provisioning is a service offered to automate the process of creating or updating users based on creation and updates to a system external to Google Workspace like their SIS or Active Directory. This eliminates manual work for schools cutting down their workload.
Google Cloud Directory Sync (GCDS): Syncs Active Directory or LDAP to Google and is a service to automate the process of creating or updating Google Workspace users based on creation and updates to an external LDAP system such as Active Directory. (Runs in client environment.)
Google for Education (GFE) Sync: Syncs user list export in a CSV to Google and is a service to automate the process of creating or updating Google Workspace users, groups, and OUS based on creation and updates to an external source, like a user list export provided in CSV format.
