The Cisco MDS 9222i Multiservice Modular Fabric Switch brings flexible, high performance Storage Area Network (SAN) solutions usually reserved for director class switches, to the department or remote branch office level. This "all-in-one-box solution" provides eighteen 4-Gbps Fiber Channel ports and four 1-Gbps Ethernet IP storage services ports in the base unit, plus an open slot for modular expansion. The MDS 9222i Fabric Switch is capable of expanding up to 66 Fiber Channel ports with an optional 48 port 4-Gbps module and shares a consistent architecture with the MDS 9500 Series Multilayer Directors and allows modules to be moved between all 92xx and 95xx series switches.
