Speedy Offsite Network Access

Network connections are the backbone of business connections. Formerly Linksys Business Series, now Cisco Small Business Routers, the RV042 Virtual Private Networking (VPN) Router supports up to four wired and 50 off-site connections. The latter allows users to connect into your network with secure access to your files and intranet.
The RV042 comes with dual Internet ports that can serve as a failsafe system for 24/7 network uptime, or as a secondary connection to a separate Internet provider. Whether they're used for backup or speed boosting, the router's networking hardware will keep bottlenecks away from your network, period.
Additional features of the RV042 VPN Router include:
•Up to five users connecting via a Point-to-Point Tunneling protocol
•Separate Quality of Service (QoS) configurations for each of the individual LAN ports
•Up to 200Mbps of throughput per full-duplex LAN port
•Dual Internet ports for load balancing and connection redundancy
•Secure connections for up to 30 remote office or traveling users via VPN
•Advanced SPI firewall
Cisco RV042 Dual WAN VPN Router - 4 Port is rated 4.2 out of 5 by 25.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from I use these to create inexpensive IPSec VPN tunnels between sites. Love them. THey have never let me down. Been using them since Linksys RV.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Served us well for quite some time, but this old horse was ready to go out to pasture. Goodbye old friend.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I had this VPN router setup for one of my locations. It was a great 10/100 VPN router.Liked:Easy configurationWeb interfaceVPN software/managementRan for over 5+ years without an issue.Disliked:No power switchVPN software doesn't support anything past Win7This router worked real well for me. However, if you need a gig speed and want to utilize the VPN software with Win 8 and greater, you will need to purchase a newer VPN router.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from When replacing some old, custom Linux firewall/routers, we used the RV042 at the recommendation of a MSP. These little guys are awesome! They are priced right, easy to configure, and are rock solid. The only downside is they are slightly light on features, but that's definitely offset by their price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I have setup this for Multi sites, Site to Site IPSec VPN (Supports upto 50 tunnels) connected through Dyn DNS. It has been 4 years and I remember them only when I need to upgrade firmware or setup change like port forwarding or maybe when there is an issue with DSL. Its very easy to setup and simple. This is my first choice for a SMB setup. Best Fits in IT Budget

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great for secondary gateways and remote offices. Note that VLANs aren't 802.1q, they are just a separation of the same network. DHCP will only work on the primary subnet which only supports /24 or up. Adding static entries into any table is a nightmare.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Out and outdated. Not worthy of consideration in present times. Even for it's day it wasn't the best.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from I think this might be a consumer grade Cisco unit. Surprising that it would show up here. Don't use in an office.
