Worth Every Penny
A dear friend purchased a scanner and offered to lend it to me so that I could get all of my writing and that of my wife into digital form. We are also artists and have considerable work that would be suitable for publication. But putting images onto digital media requires a high end scanner. This proved to be just the one! Easy to use and almost fool proof, when used in conjunction with Omnipage 18! Highly recommended!

Great Quality and Document Resolution
Setup is easy, once one gets redirected to OS X Yosemite drivers.
The screen interface on the MAC is simplistic, but does the job. It would be nice to have an interface with options and logic such as the V750 PRO scanner.
It is well built. Upgrade to the DS-7500, if speed is an issue.
I am a solid EPSON user, having three of their professional imaging printers. The quality of the DS-6500 is in keeping with what I have come to experience with EPSON.

Great Machine but...
Great Machine - fast, 2-sided scanning is a breeze and setting up the network device was a piece of cake but...
You can't change the default of the dpi - its set at 200 and we usually 300 and higher so this is set manually each time - not hard to do though.
You can't do a separate page scan.
But I would not trade it in!!!!

Works Very Well
I bought this scanner about three years ago, and have been using it to archive several filing cabinet draws full of personal and professional files.
Works well with Adobe Acrobat and Speed Scanner software. Very fast, catches multiple-page feed errors, and excellent quality.
My only complaint is that the auto document feeder struggles with anything narrower than 4 inches, meaning that cash register receipts have to be scanned on the flatbed.
