Overall the printer is very good. The only issue I have is making the setup a bit clearer. They over simplified the instructions down to 4 pictures. Add some wording to make it clearer on what the steps are. Overall the functionality, the setup software and and print quality are all very good and make this a great purchase...

We have been buying the original ink from Office depot but the ink cartridge keeps running out around 300 pages. We have to buy this ink because the printer needs this cartridge, and being a small business we can't have our printer not working. We are printing just regular pages with less then 20 % words on the page.

This unit replaced a terrific HP2300 which served for years as our corporate printer. It produced more than a quarter-million sheets- wow! This new unit has a tough act to follow. The print quality is excellent. The additional features such as the two-sided copies and the scanner are powerful tools. And, I know there are more features we haven't used. I bought this printer for doing tax returns and it is nice BUT I cannot print single sided in my tax program with this printer. My old HP laser jet printer was single sided printer and I had no problems. I wanted a wireless printer so got this one and it goes to sleep and I have to be careful to make sure that I push the button to get it off sleep mode or it won't print and I have to turn off computer and printer and then restart to get it to print. So it prints very nice but I have some issues and wish I had not been to be so quick to buy a double sided printing printer. everyone said oh you can just choose to print one sided but that does not work with the tax program I have.

I bought this to have a replacement ready when I was buying a new printer that comes with a starter toner cartridge. What I didn't like about this purchase was the patched up packaging. It means to me that someone opened it or, the package was damaged and they didn't bother to get a new box. Until I actually use this, I will not know. Although it is not really expensive, it is never good when one sees something like this when receiving a supposedly brand new product. Busy with many things and thinking about a cumbersome return in this COVID 19 crisis, I didn't return this. Maybe, should have. A small matter, maybe. But, it says a lot about how the business is run.

Low toner at 440 pages
Bought this last April here at HP. Normal printing, Arial or Times New Roman at 10 or 12. Rare use of Bold or Italics. No photos; no heavy stock. Nothing fancy; no full pages.
It so sad, I've used HP printers for over 30 years. My tried & true HP5MNP and its toner lasted so long - toner no longer available.
It's sad to see what was once dependable to no longer be that.
440 pages out of 1200 -HP says based says 1200 based on 5% coverage.
"What’s 5% Page Coverage? It means only 5% of the page has ink or toner on it."
Sounds like a song & a dance.
Just so, so disappointed. :(

I had an unusual experience obtaining a replacement toner cartridge for my printer, not at all in line with previous online orders from HP. Unfortunately, everything went wrong during a difficult time with weather on the west coast, holiday related delays, and the effects of Covid all combining to make for slow response. The scan feature was very difficult to set up at first and periodically will shutdown so we need to do a re-set. Plus the operating dial is confusing to use and identify features. Overall performance has been fine so 3.4 stars.

HP Smart goes into endless loops sometimes for no apparent reason. Unreliable scan software. As far as the ink cartridge goes, ink is ink, it works fine and lasts about 9 months for typical home user. HP Smart prompts you to buy more ink 3-4 months too early. You have to shut off notifications to get it to stop bothering you.

We have four HP printers, which we use for both business and personal purposes. We have tried the aftermarket “refills,“ and no-name cartridges made by other than HP as a general matter, we have not been satisfied with refills or non-NHP printer cartridges. We recognize that HP cartridges are more expensive and that you can go to Amazon or eBay and buy “competitors“ cartridges, much less expensively. However, we always return to buying HP original cartridges because they last a reasonable period of time, do not leak, and provide constant printing . Thank you, HP.

The original ink cartridge that came in the box when I purchased this printer failed from the start. There was always smudges and streaks from the beginning. I put the printer aside for a long time and used other printers cause I just didn’t give a crap about returning it. I offered to give the printer away to several friends or acquaintances but told them of the problem. Not one of them wanted the printer because they knew the ink cartridges were so expensive. Finally as time went by I decided to order a new ink cartridge, the cheapest version. I installed the new ink cartridge and it works beautifully.
HP owes me a new ink cartridge no charge, because the one that came with it failed from day one.

User friendly to order online
It is excellent toner. I do wish it would last longer. But I will continue to use it and it is user friendly in being able to order it.

Great toner but poor HP printer.
Excellent toner but my HP Laser Jet Pro M118dw printer must be the problem because even though the ink comes out nice and black, my printer bleeds about 3/4" all down the side of each page. Can't seem to make that stop.
