No idea why, it just sits there and thinks for about 10 minutes before it starts printing. Once it does print the quality is fine, but getting there is not worth the hassle. Buy another printer.

None of the help options are helpful and the only reason I did not return it is that I foolishly threw the box and packaging away as soon as I got it. I have since talked to two other people that recently purchased HP printers that had similar problems. I would never buy another HP

Rated 5 out of 5 by from HP DeskJet Plus All-In-One Printer What an easy printer to setup! Took less than 5 minutes and the instructions was very easy. The mobile app was awesome to use. With it I was able to print documents from my phone to include photos as well. Once downloaded to laptop it was very easy as well to print and scan from. No wires was need to connect to the laptop and I was able to print from any room with the WiFi connection. Color was bright and popped out on the paper. Other members of the family also downloaded the app/printer onto their laptops and it has worked well!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Quality Printer/scanner Pros: Very easy to set up, locations of icons very visible and self explanatory ,size fits perfectly on the desk, quality of the colored ink is vibrant and clear, amount of paper that can be loaded is sufficient for my needs, switching back and forth from colored ink to black ink was simple enough, scanning was simple and quick. Cons: The only thing that was a bit bothersome was the fact that the wire in the back of the printer is loose and does not fit securely in the printer. If I move the position of the printer, the wire becomes dislodged at times and I have to plug it back in. Other than that, the quality of this printer is excellent for my needs. This HP Desk Jet Plus 4155 gives my old Epson a run for the money!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Returning 4155 Bought smart printer 4155 direct from HP. We have a 4500 HP and have had no problems with. We seem to be having problems with 4155 loading paper correctly and getting it to print. Since our old printer still works we are returning the 4155 at this time

I was looking for a folder and had to go on the internet to find an app and it was confusing and I still could not get answers to my questions. I asked why there were 2 places to load paper. One back and one on top. What is the top for. Finally I found it was for documents. Why couldn't documents be loaded in the back No answer. No way to find out. Next I printed 32 pages and the 67 Cartridge ran out of black ink. How could that be? I had to go back to my old printer to finish a job. I was very surprised and disappointed by that. I would suggest that you include a folder with set up instructions and what everything means. It is too much to have to go on the internet to find things out. Also if you are only going to provide a small amount of ink in a cartridge you should let people know.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I hate it! Bought the model Walmart sells model 4152 two days ago after my other HP printer all of the sudden decided not to print in color. I 100$% regret this purchase. It has been nothing but trouble. It continuously disconnects and I have to turn off and on every time the printer has been sitting in idle for anything over 10 minutes. More often than not, if I press the copy button after loading documents to the feeder it just stalls and the power button just blinks as if waiting for an act of god for it to work. If I could give it zero stars I would. My home PC is an HP with the most current Windows 10 version and I'm running the printer with the HP Smart Software (dumb software).

There is extremely user-friendly available as soon as you download the app as well as having some great features. I can print from any remote location directly to my home, the printer communicates with HP so that ink arrives in the mail before I need it and the quality of the prints is excellent. It's an all in one printer so it faxes, scans, copies...it does it all! I would absolutely recommend this printer to anyway - great value for the price.

Took literally hours to hook up with just 1 laptop and not worth calling HP, being placed on hold, transferred over and over again for the right person who could help me hook this up. For the lousy $25 less it cost me way more in time.... UPGRADE to a better printer!

We've only used it once so far to print out a minecraft character picture and it worked perfectly. I don't usually need to print things so this will mostly just be used for school or simple things and it will do just fine for that. I haven't tried to scan yet but I see no reason that it wouldn't work just as well. The one I bought also came with 2 free months of instant ink and I really love the option. I signed up and i'm really excited to not have to worry about going to the store to get ink or running out.

After spending a couple of hours trying to get the printer to print from my computer it appears that because I have the 2003 version of Microsoft Office the printer drivers aren’t available for that version. I no longer use Office as I’m retired. It’s too expensive to buy just to allow the printer to work. I will return the printer for a refund and find a more compatible one. Your support was not user friendly. Very frustrating.

The only thing I’m having trouble with is using the mobile fax and I have had to reset it twice when it did not recognize my device, it is otherwise a very great product and very easy to set up!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Light, Compact, Efficient I'm impressed with this HP printer. It came in a well packed box and it took only two minutes to remove all the tape and plastic. The drivers automatically downloaded and I was printing almost immediately. The printing is crisp and I'm especially happy with printing color photos. The only drawback was the length of the power cord. It's light, so I wanted to put it on a higher shelf on my desk, but the cord wouldn't reach. For everyday home printing, this HP is a great choice.

It was easy to set up and having Bluetooth means I can print from my phone if I need to. I haven't used it much (which means I haven't scanned or copied anything yet) but if it works as good as it was easy to set up, it is going to be great. And I love that I can sign up to have ink sent to me when I need it because the printer is connected to HP and will order it for me at a discount, that is an extra bonus.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wish I'd gotten a different one.... I bought this because of the scan feature but I regret not just buying a good quality printer with no scanner. It took me hours to set this up; the wireless feature was really buggy and took a long time to find my internet, I had to keep resetting the spooler to print properly, and once it finally started printing it prints...SO SLOW. I've literally never had a printer be this slow it took 20 minutes to print 3 pages. I bought this so I could print high volumes of papers to read for law school, but even after it FINALLY finished printing, when I started highlighting the ink smeared! Given how long the first page was sitting in the tray waiting for the rest of them to print....I really don't understand. It's not an issue of the ink being wet, it smeared no matter how long I waited. It's not a good quality printer, and the ink it uses is also bad. I've pretty much exclusively used HP printers my whole life and always had great experiences. No idea why the quality is so horrible but I won't be buying again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It's a joke I threw it in the trash. First it kept telling me to peel the tape of the ink cartridges. I did peel the tape off. So Finally I peeled too much off. So I bought new cartridges and now it tells me I need setup cartridges. I went back to my Old slow Cannon that works half the time. Software took Forever to download. Done with HP. Thanks for wasting 150 bucks. Support impossible to contact.

Once I got someone on the phone with HP who took over my computer remotely my problems were solved quickly. Now . . . my new printer spits out copies pretty fast; I'm surprised. I use the three dots (Microsofts feature [typically located at the upper right of the screen] instead of the Print option on the page I'm viewing {because HP says not all apps function properly with the printer} and am trying to remember to study the Print View feature to see what pages I DON'T need to print so as not to waste paper. But, overall, it has turned out to be a pretty nice printer. One can even print remotely from their Apple iPhone (once the app is downloaded). Make sure your printer Wi-Fi is synced with your router so the ink usage can be monitored by HP. Other than that I'm happy with my new printer . . . and I'm not easily pleased.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Seems kluged together The Model 4155 has the functions that I was looking for but seems to have been designed to meet a price point. The display is difficult to read (black lettering on gray) instead of black lettering on a backlit, white background like other printers formerly in this price range. The icons are not intuitive, especially the two for black-and-white and color copying. The paper feed is in the bacl and vertical instead of under the front, a real inconvenience. The instruction sheet is almost unintelligible; one must download the manual to figure out how to scan, etc. The ones with my previous printers were far better. And, there is no printer cable because it is assumed that only wireless connections are of interest. HP could have indicated that there was no cable and offered an add-in. Fortunately, I had saved the old cable. My wife and I have always purchased HP printers. Perhaps it is time to consider different brands.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from null Printer operation is very quiet but it took some time with HP geek service for set-up. A guide manual and procedure operation is needed but was not included in shipment. I think its best to include at least a user manual to help address operation and trouble shooting. Using on computer comments about questions on operation is not the best approach for customers. Too much time was used to iron out why commands on the printer were not addressed--too much guess work.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quiet printer but setup complicated Some of the pros: The ink was easy to install and the HP Instant Ink program is great and was easy to sign up for. The printer came with a two month free trial which was nice. The color quality looked ok for what I was printing. The printer is a nice size and I like the benefit of the rear input tray. The scan function was easy to use. It's fairly quiet when printing, which is a plus. The cons: This took forever to install, almost 2 hours. There were no clear instructions and I had to download the HP Smart app in order to print on either my phone or computer. My printer had issues connecting to the network and internet. I finally had to initiate wireless connectivity using the usb cord and I had to use the HP Print and Scan Doctor a few times before I could get it to print. I had to reset it several times to get it right. This was very frustrating considering I am usually good at setting up devices. It is slower than other printers I've had in the past; however, the speed is pretty standard compared to other HP deskjets I've used. The display is small and hard to understand. All in all, the print quality is ok but the setup leaves much to be desired and I don't know if I would purchase another printer like this if it requires the smart app for installation.

Mobile fax option is nice and the WiFi picked up quickly when I was setting it up. This printer has HP’s ink delivery service if you choose, a nice option if you want this service. The only downside was I attempted to set it up with my IPhone but had to switch to my Mac for the full setup with the App. All in all a great printer which is fast and efficient!

I've had this printer for about 2 -3 weeks. The app and set up is great if you follow the directions carefully. The price is reasonable too. You will not be able to print from your device if it's outdated or too old.

My first reaction when opening the box to the HP Deskjet Plus 4155 all in one printer is the size. it is very small and light. extremely light and compact. my favorite part about the printer is the quick and easy set up through my iPhone app. I was able to print and set up my app all in 5 minutes. the quality of the pictures is AMAZING! best home office printer by Far !!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Not a fan at all... I was not impressed. It took me a long time to figure out how to download the app in both my phone and my laptop. Then it took me a long time to figure out how to insert the ink. The picture had it facing a different way when you put it in,so that messed me up. Printing from the computer was fine, but I mostly use the copier for pages I already have. That was difficult as well. The paper seemed very hard to put in the paper tray and at one point it literally changed the font on it's own. It took me about an hour to copy a 20 page document that would take me about 5 minutes on my personal printer. I also fax a lot of documents, but not from my phone or my computer.. There is no way to dial up to send a fax thru. So as you can tell I am not a fan and am not happy with this printer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from DeskJet Plus 4155 Printer 4155 HP Desk Jet - I have been using the 4155 for a few days now and I will start with the positives: Printer was packaged perfectly and was secure in the box. Directions to set the printer up were simple and I would say I was ready to go in under ten minutes. I like that the printer is very light which is a plus if you have to move it to different rooms or out of the way on a desk. Overall it prints fairly quickly and is quite and the wireless feature works well from anywhere in my house. Also the option to purchase ink at a discount is great. Some negatives that I have is the display screen is very small and positioned on the top of the printer making it difficult to see if your printer is raised up on a desk. The printer only holds about 30 pages at once so you have to refill it often. Overall for the money it is a good printer for what you would need at a normal house use.

I have a 12 yrs old and 16yrs old who will be doing virtual learning to start school year. They were able to download hp smart app and get connected to it we are all connected wirelessly. The app is easy to use the printer setup was so easy the kids did it on there own. It prints great scanner works awsome it really is a great all in one printer. And if everything about this printer wasn't great enough I got 2 months of hp smart ink included it knows when were out and sends new ink in the mail.

Works really well, the only drawback I have it that it does not hold a lot of paper in the feed. I was spoiled with my previous that it would hold around 300 sheets and i did not have to fill it often. this printer does hold about 25 sheets.

The customer service agent was not familiar with this model and could not even direct me to insert the paper. Finally the User Guide helped me. It would have been helpful if some basic instructions were included with the printer. A diagram and a few simple directions would be nice. Even a clue to help the uninitiated user find the User Guide. Finally with the agent's help and using the Guide we set it up. It was an adventure.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Extremely hard to connect to Network My mom bought me this printer for my first apartment, at first I was super excited. However, this printer has proven to be a huge inconvenience. I have been trying to connect it to my WIFI for a week now. I have used every method from the HP smart app ( which is virtually impossible to use) that they provide to using a WPS connection. nothing works, or if it does it lasts around 30 minutes before the printer disconnects. I even had to have my dad help me from over the phone (he is a telecommunications expert so he's pretty good with technology). And at first it looked like it worked but yet again the printer failed to stay connected. The only way I am able to print is by using a USB cable which is highly inconvenient as I have a laptop. If I was able to connect it to the internet I'm sure I would love the computer but alas I cant.

I had wanted to use a cord to attach to my desktop but there was no court in the box. Had to buy that separately. I was able to download the user's guide from the website so it's all good now.

I cannot get it online, i can not get proper technical support. I am extremely disappointed and frustrated. This may be the end of a lovely relationship i have had with HP for many years. You know how you chew a cheap piece of bubble gum and the flavor goes away in ten seconds? Well this printer is the equivalent. First of all, you have to set up via an app on your phone - with is buggy, times out, sets the printer up halfway so you have to delete it and add it again. Then the printer jams on every single page you print. And the quality is complete crap. SLOW quality, so you have to wait for the complete crap printout. 0/10 - would NOT recommend.

I really liked my Officejet Pro 8610, but I had to replace it after a few good years. The DeskJet Plus 4155 fit my needs and my budget. The white is much more attractive on my desk than the big black one was. Very light weight and easy to install.

Does basics of what you need it to but the automatic document feeder often jams or pulls in more than one sheet at a time, happens just when stacking 2-4 sheets, not a bigger auto-feed copy job that I wouldn't attempt with this printer. Flimsy plastic gear parts popped out of place when trying to remove a jam, fortunately was able to pop them back in but parts could just as easily get broken in the process. To avoid this I've often had to make 1 copy at a time thru the feeder which kind of defeats its purpose. ADF is just not reliable enough to be able to place a multi-page document, walk away & do something else. You have to monitor it for problems. Also difficult to tell when documents are all the way into the feeder, have to check placement twice before starting to make wasted copies. Need a "ready" light on the dashboard. That said, it's adequate for what I need it to do.

You can't just plug and play, you have to download the software and I had to use USB to connect to my PC to finish set up. Also the automatic feeder pulls the papers in crooked so the copies and scans are all tilted.

It does not or it will be very difficult to set up and keep the wireless connection from the printer to your router .Everything works in relation to the other , meaning you could have a wireless connection but the printer still wont work because of an instant ink connection. They lied about having a USB option, it simply doesnt not work, there is no firmware/software you could download and just operate your printer in the most basic way. I had connectivity issues with my first printer and had the longest trouble shoot ever because they didnt want send me a new one after receiving that new one the same issues remain. its simply a bad printer .there are too many features that it needs to operate that slows up its functionality. I should have just did my research because this is the number issue with this printer and HP as yet to address it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from VERY User UNfriendly The power button only works occasionally. Most of the time I have to unplug the printer to turn it off. Wireless function is hit or miss. Most of the time I get a “printer is busy” message when I try to print even when I know there aren’t any jobs in the print queue. The HP Smart app is horribly misnamed. Even when I do get the printer to print it waits a couple of minutes before doing so. On a more positive note, on the rare occasions when I can get the printer to actually print something the print quality is excellent. I used to be a huge fan of HP, especially their printers and have bought a number of them over the years. In just a few days this printer has got me way over that infatuation.

Couldn't tell if it was made out of plastic or hard candy, that's how breakable it was. Totally worthless. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Poor connectivity You have to re-install the printer frequently because your home network can’t recognize it once you turn your computer off and then restart. If only you had a way to directly connect via USB I could give it 5 stars because it’s fast and prints well. I have other devices that connect just fine to my network so I have to conclude that the problem is with the printer. I ran the diagnostics and made recommended changes to Windows but that didn’t help it be detected once the computer had been turned off and started the next day.

The app is less than useless, and the desktop app couldn't do a thing to help out. I'm not even sure how i did it, but somehow WPS is the only way i could get it to talk to my local network. If you follow the set up instructions to the letter, you will NEVER get it set up. It never tells you first to load the ink. This is only one of many gates that must be navigated to achieve set up. I do not have an atypical home office, so I know it's not just me. Having read previous reviews, I now have a deep appreciation for others' frustrations. Simply put, it's too complicated. needs to be plug-n-play right out of the box. You need to have an advanced degree or 5 yrs of tier 3 printer support to navigate every day usage. The only saving grace from a 1-star review is the throw-away price. I guess you get what you pay for.

I really struggled with the set up to the WIFI until I lowered it to 2G... it just would work with the 5, so what is frustrating is my PC needed to also drop to 2G because the have to match. Now my PC runs quite a bit slower with heavy webpages.

I am hoping it has the zoom capability for scanning but haven't found it yet. Duplex printing a little more difficult but does work once you figure it out. Also, the paper tray accessibility leads a little to be desired.

I tried to reset the printer but it still doesn't work. The print quality was fine and the ink cartridge was still at least half full after I cut it open. Search the class action lawsuit on this issue and do not buy hp products.

I loved all of my products and I thought this would be a great purchase as well, especially considering the HP Instant Ink program. I have had this printer since October and have only been successfully able to print 5 items in 3 months. The printer randomly stops connecting wirelessly and I cannot get anything to print. This is coming from someone who has strong in-house wifi and follows troubleshooting tips from the HP website meticulously. I have spent over 7 hours over the course of different weeks since October on the phone and chatting with HP staff to fix the problem. Some may be able to fix it for a day and then the problem comes back. I am quite disappointed as I have never had an issue with HP products up until now. I am saddened that due to the HP Smart functionality of this printer, I cannot even use a USB cord to print and will have to purchase another computer. I just do not want anyone to go through this same issue, so I wanted to share my experience with anyone considering this product.

I suppose HP was trying to be slick by making me install the App but truly you forgot to include some actual set up instructions. Also the fact that the printer does not have any way to enter the wifi pw you have to rely on this App which I presume uses bluetooth to get the password for the printer connected to your server.I am not a techy per say person but please the printers in the past took less than 30 minutes to set up. This took me almost 2 hours. First I tried with the App on my iphone I could not get the printer to work. I moved on to my laptop, that seemed more effective but still difficult so then I moved to a youtube search to find some community help. HP you could have included a one page little piece of paper explaining how to start, put paper in the darn thing, but no, that would have been too what, simple?? It finally worked and I was very frustrated by the time I got it printing.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good product at a good price! This is a printer with a relatively small footprint so that it can fit into smaller places. The paper tray is a little difficult because you have to slide it in the back standing up. This makes it difficult to print both sided. The page has to be externally re-entered. The only other problem is that there is NOT a printed manual so there is a "discovery" period. The print quality is wonderful and very little has to be done to make it wirelessly connected to your computer. I would recommend this product for those who don't do constant printing, but great for light duty printing.

Set up app needed (on smart phone) not user friendly. I still can’t figure out how to get it out of sleep mode unless I unplug it and replug it in. But it prints well. Haven’t scanned yet.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Budget Printer with Flaws and Virtues The 4100 printer is both inexpensive and cheap. These are not the same thing. First the virtues. It does a nice print job. Far better than the larger HP printer that it replaces. It's small and light. What more could you ask, you may ask. Well, feeding blank pages is difficult and the instructions are no help. Connecting to wireless requires an engineering degree and patience that I, for one, lack. Sometimes, it connects to wireless, sometimes not. But the surest way is to plug it into a USB port. I've been an HP customer for decades. I rarely stray from the fold even though a "leading Consumer Products Magazine" I'm not allow to further identify says, in effect, HP printers are ink guzzlers. I don't do a lot of printing. I like the results, generally. Bright colors, true black. But if you're a heavy user, HP makes sturdier stuff than the 4100.

It found my wireless network instantly and printed test pages with no problem but then could not seem to receive documents from the computer. It just kept telling me to reboot. Finally I figured out that the thing that looks like the printer in the "select a printer" menu doesn't work, for whatever reason, and you need to select a different thing from that menu. It's very confusing. Anyway, when the printer did finally print my documents, they came out looking great. In short, I'm disappointed that printers haven't become any easier to configure since last time I bought one, but I don't have much to complain about with this printer in particular.

Because it is a wireless printer with no printer cables, it was impossible to connect to the network. I wasted 2 hours on the phone with different reps to try to set it up. We tried using HP smart, resetting the router, he took over my screen, nothing worked. I am a grad student and do not have the time to waste. It was super aggravating because it says this is easy set up. One rep told me since it is a new printer, not many reps know how to troubleshoot it. I will be returning it. It's a shame because I have always been an HP customer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This is a great printer! Once I figured out that I needed help in setting up. HP in it's progress to save money forgot to include several things in the set up instructions. The Technical writer must have been listening to that great Texas Band Asleep at the Wheel because that is what he/she was. While I bought this to replace my HP6700 which gave up the ghost after many years service. Once I got it working, it is a really good printer, better than the 6700. Take my advice and hook it up as USB printer.You still use it to print photos from you IPhone 12. If you want to use it as a wireless printer make sure your google fiber does not have too many Wireless devices on the network.

I then uninstall and did a complete new install. Appears to be better except I now have two 4100 printers showing in my list and I must run a "fix" each time at startup. I am sure a tech person could correct.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Absolutely miserable set up design Only directions in the box are to set it up, remove the tape, turn it on & download the app. That's when the misery starts.... App want to connect phone wifi to the printer, but asks for the printer password, which is not included ANYWHERE in the documentation, or on the device itself. A youtube video suggested that you could print it off by pressing some magical combination of buttons, but I needed another video to figure out how to add paper since my first attempts weren't working. Got the paper inserted, pressed the button, then 2 pages printed, without any reference to the password. 3d page was a print-head check, but we haven't gotten that point yet. Tried printing out the info again, but still no password. Gave up on that and, luckily, still had the USB-A to USB-B from my old printer. Plugged that in and was able to set it up to the computer, but wireless is still hit-or-miss. Only after that got logged in did the printer work over USB and THEN printed out the password, which I didn't need anymore. Even with the HP computer app and the HP print & scan troubleshooting software, I can't get it to reliably connect to either the computer or the phone. Sometimes it's available, sometimes not, no rhyme or reason. It's maddeningly bad design. ALSO, the scan head keeps cycling back & forth and the online recommendations don't do any good, so I'll have to see if I can find the time to wait for customer service to see if they can do something.

The paper tray is very finicky and will give an error message even when it has paper. It's not an expensive printer but the cartridges are astronomically priced. I had major sticker shock when I priced them. I did sign up for the InstaInk but we shall see how it goes. Overall I am not very happy with my purchase.

The screen is so small and almost impossible to read, the printer is slow and so loud that it is really annoying. There was nothing in the description nor did the person I was talking to on the phone say that the paper loaded from the back which I find to be not a great feature. I remember that from years ago, not recently. Overall it was not what I expected from HP. All of my products including the desktop, the tablet, the laptop have come from HP and I've been a customer over 40 years.

But once I got everything connected it printed with out any problems. And that has been the only time printing was easy. Now when I try to print from my cell phone. I get an error and it just won't print.. And when I try to print from my laptop I have to restart the printer.. Readd the printer to the two different apps I had to download to get anything to print.

Since I received it I've been trying to install it with the useless HP Smart app. It have spent hours on trying to connect this printer without success. It keeps saying that I do not have the driver. Where is this driver? I did try to install it with the app and it should have downloaded the drivers. When I try to install it HP Direct it will not accept any of the pins I have used. I have gotten the passwords/numbers directly from my router. I am about to pack up this printer and send it back. I've always used HP printers and never have had any problems with the installation. It is now impossible for me to install this printer with this "easy" HP Smart app.

All I was trying to do was enroll in the instant ink app. The rep didn't have a clue,constantly distracted, leaving me hanging wouldn't give me reference # for the call only knows his supervisor first name, if that's true. This experience was a very poor example of customer service. I would highly recommend this call for quality or training purposes. If the company really monitor or audit calls for that.

It needs to be completely reinstalled and used- before it goes to sleep. I had my computer tech person out - at my own expense to fix the offlineissue.We set up a dedicated IP address for it but the problem persists. Also the on off button freezes when it is on the offline mode and the printer needs to be unplugged /replugged in for it to unfreeze. He recommends returning it. Dont buy this printer. In fact buy a Canon or a Brother instead. You will be much, much happier.

For example, I preferred the touch screen rather than having to go to HP Smart to do things. It was much faster before. Also, I miss being able to FAX from the touch screen rather than having to go through the cell phone and pay extra for the privilege. Therefore, I am disappointed with this copier. I, also, liked the way the former Desk Jet loaded paper. It's not going to be as easy to load my Christmas envelopes next year.

I do want to thank Ella in the HP Chat Room. She was excellent in taking the time to advise that the 4230 was no longer in production and checked to find a computer that would use my HP 61 cartridges. She was most patient. Also, it would be nice to have a printed brochure enclosed with the printer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Color Printer AND WIFI I purchased this since my old scanner died, and HP's all-in-one was just what I really needed - scanner, printer (in B/W and COLOR) copier and fax as well (don't fax much, but nice to have if I need) -- getting WiFi printing set up is easier with HP Smart! Glad that is there!! Also have an HP LaserJet that does ALL my b/w printing, especially for legal docs. I'm sitting pretty now!! Yea!!

Sending it back. And this printer was a replacement for another HP that just died, no warning issues, just wouldn't power on anymore.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So far, it's OK I got the 4100 series printer about 3 weeks ago. I was not a fan of the set up instructions. Pictures are good to a certain point. Words are sometimes necessary. Once I figured out that there was still a spacer in the paper tray, printing is great. Prints last page first and to print double sided you have to put the pages with the printed fronts back into the paper tray. It's too much trouble, so not an eco friendly printer.

It is very frustrating to keep having to reconnect it every time my children need to print homework. I am seriously thinking of returning it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Hp Desk Jet Plus 4155 I purchased this HP printer because I've had them in the past. Have been very easy to set up and use. However this HP Desk Jet Plus 4155 was hard. Spent about 6 hrs on the website but the "help" robot was not helpful. Took awhile to finally find out how to actually speak with someone to walk me through the set up. Took about 15 minutes and the person was very helpful and patient. After all was said and done, I've had no problems and it works great.

The speed obviously is not as fast as office type but it works perfectly for home use. I'm pleased with my purchase.

Sending it back if tech support cannot get it connectedm I have ring doorbell and accessories connected along with other wifi devices. It is the printer.

And success was made only because a DISH representative knew how the HP Smart system worked more than the HP representative did. There is still a driver that hasn't downloaded correctly and I have to hook up thru USB cable. This is definitely not what I expected.

Now it takes 10 minutes to print one sheet of paper because it repeatedly goes into an error state. Has to be restarted before I can print anything. Do not buy this printer.

It was also easy to connect with my laptop. It was on sale for 99.00 so I think it was a very good deal. Downside is I am used to a bigger screen to choose options/ maintenance. The document feeder works best if you manually feed it page by page, not a stack of pages.

I cannot print to it wirelessly without unplugging the printer and plugging it back in. None of the buttons work on the printer. Even the power button. It's like the printer freezes up if it is not used for a certain amount of time. I wish I would have spent my money on another brand.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love the WIFI printing from phone This printer does it all. The fact that I can send to print from my phone via Wifi or remotely is a game changer. It's been really helpful to send emails or photos to the printer right from my phone without having to go on the computer. The set up was a breeze, although I wish it came with some sample paper, as I didn't have any so wasn't able to use it for a few days after it arrived. Since getting it, I've had several neighbors ask if they can print something, as they don't have their own printer and have enjoyed how easy it was to use. It's compact enough to fit nicely on a shelf next to my desk and the sleek white design fits in well with the rest of my decor, so it's not so noticeable as a piece of equipment.

Cleaned the printing head, changing the ink cartridges, nothing worked. I also needed help from HP Customer service to set that printer up. With this one, I received on a Wednesday. I decided to wait until Saturday to set it up just in case I needed HP's help. Well, I didn't need their help, It was setup and operational in less than 10 minutes. I am Thrilled about that. I didn't have to spend time on the phone with a rep. Thank you for the ease in setting this printer up!

In order for me to print I must continuously turn the printer on and off and the wait long is horrible. Definitely will not be buying another HP printer.

This one and the previous one I had are not the quality I expected from HP. It was not easy to set up, doesn't print two sides unless I manually move paper, is very slow, doesn't print financial pages from web. Most of the time it is not available for AirPrint. I have followed all instructions and virtual assistance but the only way it can be used is to switch it on and off all the time.

The one thing I was a little disappointed with is having to use an app on the computer to perform a scan rather than just being able to do it from the device itself. Set up was a breeze with the app, I encountered exactly zero problems during setup. Trouble free startup and excellent operation overall.

The printer itself is pretty nice, but the software (HP Smart) is horrible. I had a difficult time connecting to my WiFi network, then I finally get it to connect, only to lose my connection again. It was connected all day while I was working from home, no problem. It stayed connected for another 2 - 3 hours after I finished working, then it disconnects again! I’ve had it with HP. I am going to return this useless piece of technology and buy another brand.

Kept trying to set it up, which was difficult. Then it would print a page and pull another blank page with it. It jammed frequently, ran out of ink fairly quickly. Today, 6 months after buying it, I threw it in the trash - the whole thing!! Really felt good! For the first time I will buy a non-HP printer, am looking around now.

The HP app is EXTREMELY slow, the printer always takes so long to get ready to print and when I try to contact for help the viral agent is useless. I was enrolled on an instant ink plan and I cancelled it because I wasn't really printing that much, then I needed to print one document and the printer became useless because the cartridges I had can only be used when enrolled in the instant ink. Which makes NO SENSE since they still had ink on it! I want my money back!

Its like HP took the model of a standard practical printer and thought of ways to make it harder on people, such has requiring their customers to download horrible software that constantly crashes, telling them the printer is out of paper when it isn't, taking waaaayyy too long to print a small document, or just simply not printing when you tell it to. I've had enough. This weekend I will be taking this printer and throwing it in the garbage. I will then go on amazon and purchase a practical cheap 30 dollar printer and never buy HP again.

This is the first HP printer that I was SO disappointed in. I've had MANY GREAT ones. It wanted to use the Wi-Fi at all times. Would tell me there was an error printing, I would leave the office for a few minutes, and sometimes it would be printed when I got back. Other times, it never printed. The queue would not clear.. I am well experienced in setting up and using printers and computers. This had me quite frustrated.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worst designed printer imaginable, waste of money The printing function itself was decent enough, although the setup was more convoluted than it needed to be. The biggest hurdle at all times is the paper feed system. It's probably the absolute worst design possible for loading in paper, and constantly jammed, didn't even recognize paper was in there, would pull in several sheets of paper trying to print one page, and nearly always printed slightly crooked due to the paper feed instability. In less than a school year it stopped working entirely and I wanted to give it the Office Space treatment. Don't waste your time on this printer.

The down side is that the machine is programmed, from the website, to shut down after two hours. There is no way to change this. Resulting in my having to completely shut down the printer by un plugging the power cord. I specifically checked to make sure this printer supported two sided copy and found it only does if you manipulate the paper.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Not what I expected I called to talk to a tech about my Office Jet 6830, and the rep talked me into buying the new 4155 printer; said it would do everything the other did and that the 6830 was old and out of date (7 yrs old). i bought the new one only to find out it would not print automatically on both sides. That is an important feature to me so I had to send it back. Now I'm back to using the old one until it quits. I suppose the 4155 is a good printer, as I'm sold on HP products but this one was not what I expected or needed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from They sold me a printer with ink for 20 pages. I had to wait two weeks to use the printer because I didn't have any ink/toner/whatever that messy printer stuff is called. The cartridges that came with the printer were good for fewer than 20 pages. I don't mind paying for the ink, but give it to me with the printer. How is that hard to figure out?

It is more compact than many printers—which is good—but location and operation for toner and paper were not described in paperwork. Works fine now that I went on-line and found better information.

On my desktop computer it took over seven hours to download, didn't work. Tried my laptop. download right away. Went to print my insurance cards. Put in to print four cards, simple right? Left to do something else. Came back to find fifty copies! I turns out every time I turned on my laptop when the printer was on it just kept printing the same thing, over and over again. (Clever way to get me to buy more ink) I can see way it was the only printer left at Best Buy.

THE CABLE CAME AND I CALLED TO HAVE ANOTHER ATTEMPT AND DURING INSTALLATION, BOTH COMPUTERS WERE BUMPED OF OF THE INTERNET! MY COMPUTERS ARE ALSO NEW! But a month later I still have trouble printing. Shows offline constantly and none of the troubleshooting tips are helping. Probably the last HP printer I will buy.

We traded him so now we have it at home and it's almost impossible to set up, can't get it to connect to our wifi, can't print from other devices. Also - it's overly complicated, you can put paper in 2 different places and I have no idea why.

All sold out. every where I went to the companies web site- all office store, MyTOP priority was ink. No problem there. HP 's program for auto ink deliveries and HP ink was well stacked on the shelves. That was why I bought it. Best Decision I made. I am happy with the print quality of my documents . The printer is quiet, fast and reliable and will print anytime WIFI is available.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Piece of Garbage Bought this a few months ago. Have had issues with it since day one. When I click print on my computer, the printer MIGHT acknowledge it. Most likely, the stupid thing will take itself off line. There is no useful display to understand what the issue is. I resort to unplugging and plugging it back in several times to reset it - every time. If it eventually prints, the amount of ink it holds is good for about twenty pages. I have needed to change ink cartages several times, but am still using the original reem of paper.

Having trouble printing Excel & Word documents from zip drive. Paper jams are a nightmare to clear. Bought this due to being an HP but will reconsider others in the future.

It takes about 2 minutes to print one page, if I can get it to print at all. Almost every single time I try and print it gives me an error code and I have to restart the computer and printer. It takes up a lot of time and is very frustrating. I would not recommend this printer.

But with all the trouble it gives and how slow it prints you’re better off just coughing up the additional money to get a better printer. It’s very frustrating, 10/10 would NOT recommend. It has this offline error that pops up if it isn’t used in a while and no matter how you troubleshoot it keeps occurring. Printing (when it chooses to work) is noisy and super slow. Thinking of sending it back, getting a refund and just spending extra to get something that actually works.

I can barely ever get it to actually print without unplugging the machine and basically restarting it every time I want to print something or completely uninstalling off my main computer and reinstalling multiple times. Not sure why it is so difficult , I have tried all troubleshooting offered but nothing changes. Don’t waste your time or money on this printer. I have spent more time fighting this device than actually getting something to successfully print off of it.

It works great now and the only other thing is I couldn’t get my web services to connect therefor I can’t get the instantInk sent to me which was a bummer . My wife is teaching from home so we got her a the laptop and printer to make life easier and this printer has yet to stay connected. She can’t just get up in the middle of class to keep giving the printer so she would go the day without printing. It just hasn’t worked out for us. We also have not been getting use of the house smart ink subscriptions because she hasn’t been able to print like she normally would use so we might cancel the service.

Am most grateful for the excellent service provided in getting the app on my computer so I can scan - and since I also purchased Instant Ink where to go to find out how to track the number of copies I have printed. It is working great and I use it daily for my mail orders that I order for my new home or family members. I also signed up for the HP ink program and found it is cheaper than buying ink from Amazon or Walmart. I don't do much store shopping as my husband is disabled and I have to have a sitter for him whenever I leave the house so the ink replacement program works great for me.

The printer paper is very hard to load and doesn't hold a lot of paper. It's the slowest I have evert owned. No where near the HP 6500 printer i had for many years. I says it has a Fax, but not a phone FAX.

It went offline and will not reconnect. I have followed all the resources on HP site exactly as shown numerous times even my company IT department for can’t help! Piece of junk and I will be using it for target practice. To HP- don’t bother telling me to go to your site for resources to help, that doesn’t work. Have tried to speak to a live person and cannot get resolved.

The moment I took it out of the box I was happy. Aesthetically pleasing is always a plus for me and it matched my HP desktop. My first project was to help my daughter print her wedding invitations. It was perfect because the tray is adjustable. We were able to use the invitations, which were card stock, and they went through with ease. The quality is fabulous and I have no complaints. I feel I should also mention that set up was a breeze. I actually plug into my computer but it does have the option to connect wirelessly on my home network.

The features and diagrams buttons were clear to follow. There was convenient access and notifications if/when you downloaded the app. Your grandma could do it too. No technical or connection issues either. Be sure to pay attention to your wifi strength, paper feeder nozzle, and adjust paper to correct edges to avoid crooked printing. Happy printing!

The reason for not rating it as a five is due to difficulties encountered during the setup process. Although I followed all of the instructions quite closely, it took several attempts to connect the printer with my wi-fi. Once this difficulty was overcome, it was fairly easy to get the printer to work with my iPad and iPhone. This was not the case with my Mac as additional connection/setup problems were encountered there but eventually resolved. Overall, I find this to be a nice printer, easy to use and has good print quality on both documents and photos. I would prefer not to have to install the HP Smart app although it does have some nice features.

The paper feed has a tab that you have to insert the papers correctly or it will not print. When it prints the tab doesn't comes out so that the printed paper doesn't fall on the floor. Alerts on the printer blinking constantly without the paper instructions I wouldn't know what to do. If the printer is setup to an app it should read the warnings. I would like to toss this printer into the trash but I DON'T JUST THROW MONEY AWAY.... I WOULD LIKE FOR SOMEONE ELSE TO RETURN THE PRINTER....

Overall there is a lot of value with this model including the ability to scan, copy, and fax conveniently in one place using the HP+ smart app. It has an auto feeder on the top for larger copy or scan jobs as well. The rear paper tray is sometimes a hassle for putting paper into it, but is designed to help keep the footprint compact enough to still fit on a desk. The initial setup was simple and included 6 months free of HP's Instant Ink program which I found to be a great value. The print quality was better than expected as well.

I never even considered another printer brand because this model, the HP DeskJet Plus 4155, has everything I need. Not only is it wireless, it's compact and fits anywhere. It took five minutes to set up and works like a charm. Best investment for a home office and budget friendly. Simply put, it's perfect!

Both of mine have been absolutely amazing! My first one lasted 10yrs and it cost almost the same as my new one! I just can’t say enough about my HP printer!! It is complicated to get it reconnected just so I can print 1 document. Only one thing I am really impressed with and that is I can have the app on my phone and print documents from my phone. That is when it stays connected to the internet. I did not buy it directly from HP. I bought it from Target but it won't let me leave a review for whatever reason so I am leaving it here. I will be returning the printer as soon as I get the chance I will be getting another brand printer. HP use to be great but now not so much.

This is essentially my 2nd Printer to use when visiting her and I still need to work. I was pleasantly surprised that it was easy to hook up all by myself with no IT assistance. I was able to PRINT, SCAN & COPY while away from my home office. It was perfect for what I needed it for.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Not customer friendly I purchased a new Deskjet pls 4155 and after 2 weeks I am happy with it. However, I am not happy with procedure to hook it up and get it printing. First you had no cable from the computer to the printer. There was no disk to use to activate the printer, For all my other printers over the years, I just had to plug it in and the printer was recognized by the computer. I had to go on line to get the set up and running and that was the biggest mess I have ever seen. After you go through one step you are just brought back to the download screen. It does not tell you that the down load was successful or not. The same with the installation. It took me about 3 tries to finally get it and I still do not know how I got it. This printer is not hooked up for wi Fi because I had my old one that way and when it stopped working I tried to cancel my membership for ink. As it is I now have a box of ink cartridges paid for that I cannot use. Another thing, The way I read your message that my old printer would not work unless I remained with your instant ink program. I do not like the fact that I could get any help as to why my old printer stopped working. I could not get help as to why my printer no longer moved the ink carrier to the middle so I could replace the cartridges. Your diagnosis program said check fro paper jams or tray not all the way in. I checked both and neither one applied. I wanted to buy a new computer, screen and printer, but after this mess with the printer I do not believe I will order from you again. Every thing you offer is in such a way that you have to buy other parts to set it up. For example , cables and keyboards. And for printers it is your instant ink program, which is somewhat acceptable except the printer must be on line for your checks and updates. I think you fail to realize that most users are not knowledgeable in set ups. We don’t know if a cable from an older machine will work on the new one etc. In short your service is NOT user friendly to the novice.

Some print jobs especially from cellphones takes long time to print although it is from the HP application and in so.e cases it doesn't print a d get me falier messages. Other functions like print direct from PC is OK

I did not use it for awhile but lately I've been needing to use a printer regularly and this is the worst possible printer I have ever used. Every time I want to print something I have to take 30 minutes of my life to TRY and get it connected back to the internet. EVERY TIME. Which is insane considering my wifi works super well on all my other devices. If I could beat this printer to a pulp I would (I still might). Going to sell it and get a different one because it's causing anger issues.

After chatting with the very helpful HP agents I was able to do everything I needed on the printer. I am still getting use to loading the paper at the back instead of the front which I did with my Envy printer. It is not terribly noisy and prints fast enough for me. All in all, a great printer.

After having another hp desktop different series where the scanning ability just stopped on me one day I decided to get another one, and give the older one to my son. After buying this one today between my husband and myself we have WASTED four hours trying to get this thing to connect to the printer and or scan! This is horrible and such a waste of time, now I have to try and return this when I need it for work. HP please do something about this particular series because it is the worst!

Errors show up Cleared then would not feed and immediately go back in error mode. I did not take it out of the box for at least two weeks after receiving it. Then got frustrated with it. Was gone for about 12 days before tackling it again and by this time I was past the free return window. Tried it again to no avail and called the chat line. Their fix didn’t help. Problem persisted. Hours wasted. Out of pocket expense to ship it back made it a no brain decision since it cost $99.00. I put it in the garbage where it belonged. Cheaply built, no robustness, sorry I wasted my time and money.

Here's what I liked: it prints pretty quick, i like the price for the ink cartridges are not that expensive, I enjoy being able to scan things with my phone ( you got to download the app to your phone) print or fax from your phone. What I disliked was it wasn't too easy to set up. The printer if not connecting to your WiFi or if signal is weak it will tell you it can't print so you have to figure out what's wrong. You can use a USB but i was trying to eliminate cords. HP offered a ink cartridges replacement but you have to pay monthly and its a by page deal if you happen to go over the amount you signed up for it becomes $1 each page (yikes, that can add up!) Not a fan of that. All in all, it's a good machine scans, faxes & prints.

Had an all-in-one I was never able to install scanning even after a long phone conversation with "Customer Support" who wanted access to my computer to do it. Also happy with the ink supply plan monitored by HP. Buying ink at a store is always an aggravation to me so that's a really nice option. Anticipating a long and happy relationship with HP. Thanks for making my life easier.

I could print from my phone with no problem. The second time i tried to use it, it wouldn't connect to my wifi, wouldn't print anything and when i tried to copy something it would come out only on 1/4 of the page...I hate this printer....

Granted it was a different model however, if that was one of HP's 100 dollar printers then I wouldn't waste any time with this one. So I stuck with HP and bought the Deskjet Plus 4155 ....NEVER AGAIN! I couldn't get past the 3rd step in the Start Up instructions. The "Get HP Smart" button would not load, after a hour of trying. I could not get a person for technical support from HP, and ended up working with a valient young lady with Concierge Support at Costco, but to no avail. I have an up to date MacBook Pro, and HP should not to sell to those of us till they get the software straightened out.

Theirs no disk to setup just go to website indicated Bam!!! The Greatest feature is theirs a APP that’s connected “WiFi” & it actually works well. You can print anything from computer or phone anywhere. Another great feature FAX - SIMPLE you can scan or keep it simple take a photo of forms fill out fax for & send wait than receive a confirmation of sent & received sheet.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from HP 4100 SERIES I PURCHASED THIS COMPUTER PRINTER BECAUSE IT LOOKED LIKE IT WOULD WORK GREAT FOR ME. HOWEVER, I CAN'T GET TO IT WORK BECAUSE IT DID NOT COME WITH A SOFTWARE DISK. IT ONLY COMES WITH DIRECTIONS ON HOW TO DOWNLOAD IT. I HAVE DONE THAT AND IT STILL WONT HOOK UP TO MY WIRELESS NETWORK. I HAVE TRIED SEVERAL TIMES AND ALL I GET IS IT CIRCLING BACK TO DOWNLOAD THE SOFTWARE. IT IS ON THE COMPUTER HARD DRIVE ALREADY. IT ALSO SHOWS THAT IT IS AVAILABLE TO MY NETWORK BUT WILL NOT CONNECT. I HAVE 2 OTHER COMPUTERS TO SET UP WITH SOFTWARE AND DON'T WANT TO GO THIS HASSEL. I AM CONSIDERING RETURNING THIS PRINTER AND GET SOMETHING THAT IS EASIER TO INSTALL.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works just fine. I bought this to replace a Canon printer that I had thought at the time was a good deal. Canon had issues though, like my printer being stuck because things were always in the print queu, so I replaced it with this one.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from HP Still a Top Pick I've had this unit for a month now, it works great. Waiting to see how the ink last and if it will print if one color runs out. Setting it up with Chromebook was a little tricky and there was no need to go through that many steps to get it setup. Quality and ease of using the software is fine. Great unit for the price.

This printer has all the features you could want and is very easy to set up and use. I also enjoy the Instant Ink program that HP offers with most of their printers.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Not compatible Either this HP desk jet 4155 was damaged, or it was not copatible with my iMac software. I could not get the information from HP that I needed. I is difficult to say if I would recommend this printer as I don't know, It might be the best printer but it did not work with my iMac. Printer was returned.

I ordered a laptop as but haven't received it yet, so I hope connecting the printer to the laptop is as easier. I haven't used the printer as of yet but I certainly hope it works well!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Low Rating Due to Lack of Instructions/Performance This printer has no instructions other than to go to the hp site. On the HP site there is no step by step instructions on how to successfully connect this to any devices and no viable troubleshooting techniques. The HP App on the phone and the downloaded/installed HP files did not help either. After 4 days I THOUGHT I had it figured out - I was able to print 1 page out of a 10 page document. After that 1 page was printed, I received an error that said printer not found. Beyond frustrating. If I could return this printer without it costing me, I would. Worst money spent on a device. Completely useless.

Now I can print preschool home base curriculum for the children that can not go to school because of Covic 19. Letters Numbers and Shapes color and Trace Sheets free. I am going to have my daughter hang the curriculum packet on their door all in my zip free. I am happy with HP Products I will be buying more when I can I am 58 disable and can't walk a retired Child Development Director so God said buy a printer and serve your community like you use to when you had a license daycare. My health fell me do to medicine that was given to me at a hospital made me paralyze from the waist down I been waiting 2 years to walk to continue to servè teaching preparing children for kindergarten. So happy I can make to my computer and make the curriculum the use my wonderful HP printer to print it all out. I will use the winning to purchase ink and paper. God Bless you Wanda Morgan

Just bought one in ending Feb. 2021 and man ever since then this printer has been giving us problems on problems. First its hard to set up(coming from a first timer in this type of printer) Second after we finally got it printing appropriately for a couple hours it ran out of the sample ink and i had to change it. I threw away the alignment page not knowing what it was for until after I started printing again and it came out neon colors and when i saw a youtube video of a guy explaining what the alignment page if for. Now Im back at square one, trying to find out where the "Printer Documentations" are cause I finally found where to print a new alignment page but it says "if its not successful refer to the Printer Documentation" which gives me nothing.

The lack of onboard menu screen has made this a nightmare and it doesn't seem like I can get actual help from support. I'm so disappointed.

It takes a million years to turn on the stupid power button just flashes in your face reminding you how slow it is almost like its taunting you. You have to download an app just to scan documents which is even more annoying also it doesn't fax. I hate this printer omg I can't stress how much I hate this printer.

It is beyond frustrating trying to fix problems with the printer. The worst part is, the past few times I've had trouble printing, I know the issue but can find no way to fix it. The website and assistant are constantly trying to give me information on other printers. Maybe I should have bought that instead.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Poor Quality I bought this printer on August 31, 2022. We have had several problems with it, especially paper feed. The printer consistently pulls regular 8 1/2x11 paper to the right, causing tears and jams. I reset the printer multiple times and cleaned the feed tray twice. Nothing is interfering with the paper in any way. I contacted HP online service three times about the paper issue and once about a faulty ink cartridge (service resolved the ink problem).
