The single USB-C connection provides the power and signal to the second display. Was able to take the display out of the box, plug it in and start working.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect companion for Spectre Folio Had it up and running in less than a minute. Truly plug and play. The cover holds it at a great angle and stable. My only complaint is the cable that comes with it. It's 6 feet long, super rigid, and gets in the way of two things seemingly meant to be side by side. Ordered a 6 inch cable that's super bendy from Amazon for under $10... problem solved.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love the monitor, HATE the stand We purchased 6 of these for our admins and the stand was just awful. Its a magnetic base that has some origami fold that keeps it "standing". We broke two of em within a week because the stand would not hold it. we had our woodshop make a holder for the ones we have left. not recommend. the monitor itself is cool :)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It’s okay. I like the size. The single cable is great. I like the folding stand, feels solid. It works. The downsides... It’s dim. The text just doesn’t look right, so you to play with the sharpness and what have you. What makes that awkward is that the buttons are on the bottom edge. You have to lift the display to get your finger under there to change settings. It comes with a 6 foot cable, which is way too long for the expected use case with a laptop. And when you buy a shorter cable, many of them don’t work. It’s not exactly clear what the cable requirements are, so I got a cable specifically sold for eGPU’s. Figured that would probably work, and it did. All told, it does work, but expect this kind of product to be a lot better in a few years.

And I have no idea how I feel about the product because it’s not compatibility with ANYTHING I have ! Not even the 3 HP LAPTOPS I own! Not one reference on the site and your support guy has no clue either! So very disappointed, I didn’t want my recognition points back! YOU NEED TO TELL PEOPLE THUNDERBOLT IS REQUIRED!

You may have a USB-C port on your labtop, but you better make sure it supports video or you will be returning this monitor. HP should have put some more port options on this monitor then just the one USB-C port for combined power and video.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Display Amazing secondary display when traveling. Apparently others can't read that it is USB C and are trying to find ports. Most new HP laptops have USB C ports FYI. Understand what you are buying before complaining. Connects via USB C so oddly enough, you need USB C - Also, USB C is not thunderbolt exclusively. You can connect regular USB C ...no need for thunderbolt for the guy who said SAY ITS NEEDED.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect companion for travels I bought this screen to get more real estate when traveling and having to work on my laptop. At the office, I use 3 screens, so having a second screen when on the go makes my life a lot easier. The screen is built well and the protective cover turning into a stand works reasonably well. The image quality is adequate for a second screen, but I would not use it for video or photo editing. For office related tasks, however, it works great. The screen is not terribly heavy and only needing one cable to power and connect it to my laptop is very convenient. Two things to keep in mind when purchasing this screen: I found that a Thunderbolt USB-C port works best to power this screen. The stand has only one angle and while the angle is OK, it might be a bit limiting based on your use case. Keeping this in mind, I would highly recommend this screen to anyone who needs more than one screen on the go.

So...not I can't really use this? And I can't find anywhere on the HP site to buy another. It would be great if I could just buy another cable that I know will work...

I’ve ordered some from Amazon and BestBuy and none seem to work. So with that said thanks for the $200+ paper weight.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from These are junk I bought this for an HP EliteBook 840 G4 and it is not compatible. It would be laughable if I didn't spend $200.00 on this. The cable included is also very intermittent, a slight bump and it disconnects form the laptop; not that it matters since it doesn't work anyway and yes, the drivers are installed. Buy the V14 instead; it uses USB 3.0 and requires 2 connections, but it works after the drivers are installed and it's half the price. Also, the V14 worked with only one of the USB 3.0 connectors on my 840 G4, but I don't know if it will work with other HP laptops that way.

The single cable connection makes it easy also. 4k would be an improvement that would be nice in a future model to make dragging and dropping from my laptop 4k screen a bit easier but otherwise an excellent choice.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Horrible I.T. advice Before I purchased the HP portable display, I researched the product and the reviews for capability with the new HP 17z laptop I just purchased as well. The I.T. rep. stated that I would just need a USB-c to HDMI to use the S14 portable display, but that was not true and the new HP 17z was also too old to support the S14. I was told that if I were to purchase a Thunderbolt and it would work fine, but it is licensed under Apple which was another issue. One more thing, HP will try to make it hard to return and then try to charge you a restocking fee (even though it was returned within their policy time period). I would speak with any other I.T. specialist than HP's, because they are just trying to make a sale.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Work Solution and Nice Quality Monitor! I work from home (even before the pandemic), and need to use two monitors. I typically have multiple windows and applications open and spread-out, all while talking with a client in a messenger....so I cannot juggle and shuffle between windows. Typically working from a laptop is very hard for me due to the limited screen space. This HP portable monitor has finally given me a solution. I have been able to work from my laptop away from home, and in my bedroom on hot days (that is where my air conditioning is). The monitor is 14 inches (so a good size for portable screen), and has a very slim and light profile that makes it easy to slide into my laptop messenger bag right along with my laptop. It also comes with a sleek folding magnetic cover that connects at the base of the monitor via magnets. It can be used as a cover to protect the screen during transport, or folded to use as a stand to hold the monitor up. I think one of my favorite aspects is that the monitor gets powered by the laptop via the cable. I do not have to worry about charging yet another battery, I can just connect it any time and know that it will work. It also was pretty easy/intuitive to set-up. I am also very happy with the display itself... it is very clear and sharp, so it has worked well both for work purposes, and recently to watch a movie as well. Overall, I am super pleased. This monitor not only is great quality, and works great.... but it has been a big solution to allow me to have more flexibility in where and how I do my work.

When I was able to finally use it, I was disappointed at the visual difference between my laptop and the monitor. For $200+, I would assume a monitor that matches my laptop performance.

I connected it both to the Surface Pro, and the MacBook Pro, and it worked seamlessly. Just plug in the supplied USB-C cable, and you are good to go. (yes, you need to have a USB-C port) The matte screen aids in eye strain and glare. It comes with a fold-able cover that doubles as the monitor stand (folds and attaches like an iPad cover). I would love to see this in a larger version...I know its supposed to be portable, but I would love it.

If you have to work on the road out of hotels and such from time to time & miss having the convenience of a second monitor, this will fix that problem. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Barring compatibility issues, this is awesome Working with 2 monitors is so much more productive than a single monitor. I realized this after having to work from home unexpectedly, along with the rest of the world. For home, you can definitely order another monitor, but once you get used to it, you want the same when you are travelling or on the go. That is where this beauty comes into picture. It fits in the same compartment as my laptop in my bag. Comes with its own cover which doubles up as a stand and inclines at the perfect angle. The cons? Doesn't work with 2 of my 3 devices. I understand the compatibility issues given USB-C with thunderbolt or adaptive displayport isn't available on most laptops older than 2-3 years. However I believe HP missed out on expanding the customer base by not providing option for an additional input source, or at least providing a Y dongle to connect to USB-A and HDMI/DisplayPort as an example.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great buy for Grad School I bought this monitor almost a year ago and have had virtually no problems with it, and have used it daily during Grad School and for work. I would definately reccomend for those that prefer a 2 monitor setup. Also, I have heard there are compatibility issues with older laptops. After checking if you have a USB-C (monitor is powered by USB-C), I would make sure it is compatible before buying.

With my work shifting to almost 100% remote, I’ve found new needs for high resolution, picture quality, connectivity with my other computer devices, and most importantly- MOBILITY. This screen is great if you find yourself wanting to work from indoors, outdoors, or simply just maximize your productivity with multiple screens. Very light weight, easy to setup, and super easy to connect to other devices. Highly recommended for the remote worker!

The colors look as good as my laptop screen and the stand works great too. The cord is usb-c. Make sure you have one on your laptop before getting this. My personal laptop doesn't have it, so I am not able to use it with that. Also I was hoping this would work with my phone as well, but it doesn't seem to.

I used two monitors at Office by connecting the laptop to the monitor dock, but struggling to have the same setup for home . And I have to say this screen solved the issue. It is awesome – not as big and heavy as monitor, rather compact and crisp as Ipad .   Though the sharpness is little less than Ipad ,however its lot better than my laptop. It makes whole lot of difference working with external screen and specially when its so mobile – you don’t have to dedicate the space for the same . You can work at any place using this screen , either be the living room or your bedroom or workstation .   The connectivity is straight forward , you just have to connect one cable via USB C port of your laptop . At first you will feel the given cable is little long , however you will realize soon that the length is just fine – the reason is – atleast for me the port is on the left hand side and I prefer to connect the display on right , so you have to get the cable from back of display + laptop and it utilizes almost all of the length.   In short: Pros  – Very mobile , good brightness , flexible magnetic cover or mount for display , Size and Pixels are good enough – does not feel low resolution /close to ipad . Cons – All I can think that it should be better if connected wirelessly ,which may increase the price as well. So it serves the purpose for the price I can spend very well.

For those who are use to two screens, a docking station or traveling the HP Portable Display is essential. It weighs very little and comes with a slim fold back cover that acts as an easel to hold it up. The 14" screen makes for a great viewing size and the settings are easy to customize. There is virtually no set-up, just plug into a USB-C port and you have a second screen. Plus, there is no glare! It is compatible with my MacBook Pro. I use this most often when working on data I need to reference or when I get tired of looking down at my laptop screen as I can place this at eye-level.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Powerful and durable. Although this monitor could be well paired with something like a Surface Go, I wanted to try it out with a smart phone instead. So I paired it with a Samsung Galaxy 8 which basically turned my smart phone into a simple touchpad. The Elite Display was easy to connect with only one, USB-C cable that fit my phone and instantly brought an easy option up on my screen to pair it with one click. My Galaxy screen went dark save for a quadrant look which represented movement on the 14 inch, much larger, display screen. My apps didn't display but rather a pre-set list of apps which made it easy to connect to internet, email, etc. The Elite Display does not have speakers so you rely on the device you pair with it and in my case, my cell phone. But it is that device, my cell phone, that solely powers the monitor which is easily four times its size. What that equates to is an ease of viewing space at a cost of rapidly consuming my battery. So fast in fact, I would recommend a pairing with another, larger device like a laptop or similar hardware to take advantage of the larger battery capacity. Otherwise, if you just need a larger monitor for easier viewing and easier productivity in about an hour's worth of time, this would be a great add-on device. I absolutely love the magnetic case.

The colors are not great but as a second monitor to keep yourself organized especially when your away from your main setup is amazing. If I want to work on the back patio I don’t have to sacrifice my productivity to do it. I love that it doesn’t have a battery it’s just dead simple, plug it in and you’re good to go. It does drain your battery but it’s worth it. It’s not super bright which I normally like but as a supplemental screen for email and chat it does the job. I would call it light and I’m not a big fan of how sharp all the edges are when handling it. I don’t know why they designed it like that but whatever it does the job. The flat screen works great for glare reduction.

This has given me back that ability. The EliteDisplay was easy to setup and operate, it was simple plug and play using USB-C. The included magnetic cover only sets up in one (horizontal) direction, not portrait mode. Resolution and colors are OK and passable but not great. For what this is (a second or third monitor that is very portable and not used for movies or presentations), it does the job. I am not going to complain about that aspect too much. Requires USB-C cable to plug and play (included). Good to have to pull out when needed but I would not use it as an everyday second monitor.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Its okay Its nice to have this as an additional screen but its rather heavy for "portable" display. Like to use this with my phone it can plug right in when your on the go. Can also use it at home with another device. I do wish it was touch screen compatible with what you are plugged into. It would seem to make more sense if you could control just based off tablets and most other things these days. If you use it solely as secondary display for a desktop then no real need for the touch screen, since it is supposed to be portable it would be nice to have the option (maybe a switch allowing that function). I am not super particular about the display. To me it has a fairly nice display quality and a matted screen to help reduce glare. Nice that it has a cover that folds into a kickstand. I would say its best use would be for traveling and hooking up to a laptop for dual screens. Over all its pretty decent, I will continue to use.

The HP EliteDisplay S14 provides the second monitor that I need when traveling or working from a remote location and it helps to maximize my productivity. I can use it to mirror my monitor or extend my display and that is a game changer for me! The screen is very well built but light enough to carry around every day and it fits in my travel bag easily. It comes with a protective screen cover that's also a folding stand that works reasonably well. Very easy to use and doesn't need additional cables/plugs other than one USB-C cable. Needing only one cable to power and connect it to my laptop is very convenient. I'm very pleased and would highly recommend this screen.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Looks Great, but seems unfinished This is an interesting product. It works fine, but a few thing baffle me about it. It ONLY has 1 USB-C port on the whole thing, so if what you want to hook it to does NOT have usb-c, you're going to need adapters. It isn't self powered, so it eats up power from the device its hooked too. It seems kind of small for an additional screen to share with in this day in age. The plus sides are that it has worked with the devices I've hooked it to, including Samsung phones, and and my MacBook pro. It is incredibly thin and portable, but additional wires are required if you don't have usb-c. I like the cover/stand combo, looks very sleek. Overall, it's an interesting concept in technology that feels like it's not 100% finished.

It’s powered by USBC, so your laptop conveniently powers it. It’s the same size as my laptop screen so it pairs well.

This 14 inch Monitor is just what I needed for my work at home lifestyle, easy to connect via USB-C cable, not as bright screen which I prefer on my 2nd screen, it is HP and my current laptop is HP so for some reason makes me think that they pair well together being from the same place. I like how thin and portable it is, so easy to take wherever, and love the cover it comes with that you fold back to keep it on a stand up position. If you are looking for that 2nd screen for work, school or whatever the need, I highly recommend giving this one a shot.

For my job I have to show how an item whether it be a tv or whatever will work in the space my client has. This has made that so much easier! I just plug it in right to my laptop and instantly have an additional display! The image is great, the size is amazing and I just love how easy and portable it is! It came with a magnetic cover that serves a dual purpose of folding to turn into a stand which I love! Great product and has made work so much nicer!

It’s not very heavy it quite literally which was a big plus . I also wanted something with great resolution and this does not disappoint. And I absolutely love that it comes in a case that is also doubles as the stand so I don’t have to carry more stuff with me when I am on the go and I don’t have to carry a bunch of wires just one usb-c cable . It was affordable And won’t make u break the bank.i would definitely recommend this to anybody in the market for a portable display

I was sold on the build quality and the screen quality, and while that is the my main use I am finding that it is now also sitting on my desk in my office a lot! It is that good! Super simple connection via the type C connector. It recognized the video connection right away and powered up without a hitch. the colors were vibrant without being over saturated. Simple controls on the left bottom of the panel. I also really liked the magnetic front cover that protects the front of the screen and doubles as the stand. Nice touch. I liked the fact that the outer edge of the monitor is constructed of aluminum it gave a nice feel as weight to the panel. If you are looking for a portable monitor with high quality screen and build quality you can't go wrong with the HP EliteDisplay S14!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Can’t get it to work I got the HP S14 Portable Monitor to use as an extension to my laptop, but I can’t get it to turn on. My laptop is an HP EliteBook 840 G3 which comes with a USB Basic Type C port. When I connect the monitor to the laptop using the USB C to USB C cable which was provided, the monitor receives power but the screen is blank. There is no display. I’m trying to see if I can get it to work with a DisplayPort to USB C adapter cable. The laptop has a DisplayPort to transmit video. So maybe by connecting the monitor to the laptop via the DisplayPort, it might work. I ordered the cable yesterday so I will find out. If this doesn’t work, I will have to return the monitor.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Monitor is great, but watch out for customer servi This monitor is very light and the screen display is great. However, my computer output usb-c does not support video, so I had to return the device. I saw it work when I took my computer to the store and the salesman plugged the monitor into a newer version of my Envy 360. The remote monitor came up and it looked great. I didn't buy a new computer just to have a remote monitor, so I returned it. The customer service I experienced trying to return the item was terrible. I was on the phone for two hours, being transferred to a number of departments until I got angry and finally got some results. I would not recommend this device if your computer is more than two years old.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy, Bright, Clear! I've been using this display for three, 14 hour days so far while away from the office. You can't get any easier to set up: just plug it in and turn it on and arranged the layout in Display Settings. Super simple. I'm impressed with the brightness level and clarity even at over arm's length away. The case protects it well and its the perfect size so you can take your second monitor anywhere. I can't live without a second monitor anymore!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy Setup Very easy to use and the foldable cover is great. One thing is that the cord is touchy and and will disconnect or say that the display is unavailable but only happens occasionally. Would still buy again!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Disappointed Sadly, I am not able to leave a review. Why? I spent HOURS trying to get it to connect to my HP laptop. After seeking all the help I possibly could, I've been told by someone in the HP site community, that an HDMI cable is required in order to connect it. So, as soon as I am able to get one of those, I'll let you know!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just what I needed! As I currently work from home, needing an extra screen is crucial to help with my working situation. This HP EliteDisplay S14 14-inch Portable Display, helped alot. My new HP EliteDisplay 14-inch Portable Display was super easy to setup, just plug my laptop to the HP portable display with the c wire that it came with. It immediately connected and now have 2 screens to help keep up my productivity. The display on the screen is amazing, and it is such a perfect size for my desk. My daughter also currently used it for her online school this semester. She finds it very useful to have the teacher on one screen and be able to take notes on her laptop. This HP EliteDisplay S14 14-inch Portable Display comes in so handy for work from home, in office and students. Highly recommend everyone get one, I did buy my daughter her own, she got so attached to mine.
