With the recent Win10 updates and EOL requirements, I had to choose a new printer, and this was the best pricepoint. It is working well, and I have nothing bad to say other than that it took me more than four hours to get it functional for all the PCs on my home network.

Now that I am up and running I just turn it on and it works. I have set up every avenue I need to print on my LaserJet Pro and I love it.

This Printer has smaller footprint, does Duplex, same paper capacity, and so much faster printing. Good investment. One draw back I have to investigate, when printer goes in sleep mode I have to power off/on to get Prints on PC to print (Wake Up problem or option I missed).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fast printer My Laser Jet 2015d was an excellent printer and served me well for many years, but one day it just quit in the middle of a print job...probably a sensor or formatter according to HP support. The M404dw was recommended as a "close to equivalent" in the current line except that it has wifi. So far the printing function works well, and I like the printer. I have had issues getting it installed. There is no CD, just plug it in, turn it on and follow the quick, simple instructions on the web. Ha! The first two attempts totally failed. In one case the system locked up after I had entered a lot of the requested information. In the second case the system couldn't find the printer and just quit. The third time (two hours of frustration later), it installed smoothly. It is interesting that I saw a completely different interface all three times. After many attempts, I still doesn't recognize my wifi even though the router is about 3 feet away. I have tried using both methods: using a mobile device (iPhone) and a PC. The little blue wifi light is still blinking looking for a wifi signal. Both of my Epson printers recognize the iPhone and the iPad. I don't know what the M404dw's problem is. So the print function is working great from my PC where it is hardwired. The controls are intuitive and easy to use. HP's easy-to-install software needs some work.

This printer does not work as a dual tray printer. I have spent hours on the phone with tech support and the printer still does not work properly. I usually like HP products but this is a real disappointment.

The old ones were reliable work horses and in the 3 months we have had this one. It works perfect. Set up was instantaneous, using the cord supplied. I can print to it from anywhere anytime with any of my devices. It is FAST. Only regret is we should have purchased sooner. We will be buying more.

Having done my research for well over a year, I settled on this model because it advertised everything I wanted; duplex, wireless, speed, high resolution, black and white. I can say that this model delivers on all. It is FAST, even in duplex mode. The clarity and "fineness" of the print is outstanding. It has a small footprint, so fits very nicely in my cramped office area. I still have my high quality inkjet for color prints, but this HP is my default printer for everything else.

I use my phone to print a lot and the integration was seamless. The fact that this can print double sided is even better. I did get one error to check the ink on the third print which i thought was weird but it went away once I hit the OK button and never returned. For the price and quality, this cant be beat

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great replacement for my 15 year old HP printer..! So far, so good! I bought this printer as a replacement for my LaserJet 2300dn that I bought back in 2006. The 2300 served me extremely well and I hope to get the same performance and longevity from the M404dw. My whole family appreciates the duplex printing and the fast first page printing. Plus the print quality is incredible. I'm keeping the 2300 and I might invest in the overhaul kit at some point, but I'm glad that I purchases the M404.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy WiFi setup - does exactly what I want/need! I have never done this but I wanted to share the out-of-the-box experience. I literally opened the box less than 30 minutes ago. I've even mixed a cocktail in the middle and it only took about 20 minutes. It was awesome. Basically, you open the box, pull the printer out of the plastic bag, pull off one piece of tape over the paper tray, put paper in the paper tray, and then go to your phone and download the HP app. It scanned for my printer and found it and then I downloaded an additional plug-in for my Android smartphone and then I printed something. Next, I printed wirelessly from my laptop. Clicked on "Add Printer" and my laptop found it immediately and I installed it and printed a page. PERFECT! Seriously, I'm 62 and though I consider myself technically proficient, this was so easy I would be confident that folks with very limited tech skills will be able to do this too. I'm relieved to have such an easy install that required no additional work or steps like nearly every other project does!

It prints fairly quickly and the paper is easy to install as well as the toner cartridge. The features are amazing and the performance is excellent, the print is crisp and sharp, making it a great quality printer! I highly recommend this printer!

This was a great supplement printer for our office and has been excellent for invoicing all of our customers. The details even in the smallest font are clear and crisp. Like all HP products, this was easy to set up for use right away. Overall, very happy with this printer and would recommend!

Anyways, this product was the answer to my printer dreams. It's compact, light weight and quiet compared to other laserjets. It was extremely easy to set up but this printer requires you to plug it into a computer via a USB cable and then download and install 100MB of HP bloatware to get it connected to your network, other than that, this product is highly recommended.

A note to make is this seems to only print in black and white which works for me but should be noted if you need to print in color. I had some trouble printing on cardstock with it but other than that it's the perfect workhorse printer. I love HP printers. Every one I've owned has been great, especially this one! And the best part of this one is that it was incredibly easy to sync it to the wifi so I can print wirelessly. I would definitely recommend this printer!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from does not do as advertised or was told. Does not do I bought this Aug 1st. I had a 2055 dn that would auto select letter from legal on a large pdf file. I was told that this would do the same. I also have the 3rd tray. I haven't been able to find someone to help me figure how to make it auto select. I need it to do that as I do real estate files and need to auto select letter and legal. I am coming to the point of having to return it. I have downloaded the printing software with no results. I just need someone to help me figure this thing out or I will return it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for home and work While the setup for the printer wasn’t quite as easy as plug-in and go, it was a relatively quick and painless procedure. The prints process quickly and come out nice and clear in their details. The input tray holds a surprising amount of paper so you won’t have to fill it up very often. For such a solid and efficient printer it actually has a significantly smaller footprint than my last two printers and can be tucked away fairly easily. I also appreciate the ability to set this up in accordance with a dual band router to avoid having too many electronics on one band or the other. The energy saving features also help keep peace of mind that it’s not just sitting around running the electricity bill up. A really solid printer that’s up to higher capacity duties or frequent home printing.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers multiple times, trying to reset. Also, have cleared out the queue. The times I have had a successful print, it prints random characters at the top of the page. When I go to the website for help I try to download the HP Print and Scan doctor and upon installing, when I click on it says the program is not functioning correctly. Very dismayed. Worst printers I've ever bought.

This new one was so simple to set up and prints so fast! I’m hopeful it will last as long as my old one which was 20+ years. I would only buy HP printers. Their products and customer support are the best!

The ink replacement cost was a huge deciding factor for me. You can purchase a cheaper printer, but ink replacement cost will be the downfall over time. I had to order the printer out of state, but HP shipped it to me and I had not issues. It was packed well. Good job HP.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quiet, efficient and reliable. Easy to operate It fits beautifully in the small space we have, prints quickly, can do envelopes and cardstock and is quiet. The only downside seems to be that envelopes can not be printed in multiple because the ink smudges after printing one or two. After a brief rest, you can keep printing. This can work out fine if you don't have a lot of them to print in a hurry. I do love being able to have two trays for duplex printing because we have a lot of forms we use. All in all, I am very pleased.

But we are having problems trying to print non-paper media, and with double sided pieces. Even though you can sort of change the media type, the fuser does not act any differently for them, and thus they start to not fuse properly and ink gets everywhere. I also have issues with printing double sided - it automatically prints double-sided from programs that don't offer that as an option to select/de-select. Even if the document is 1 page, if you print say 2 copies, it prints those on 2 sides of one page. Really annoying.

It comes with a new printer cartridge but I decided to buy a replacement one for future so that I will have it in stock when the original printer cartridge is finished. The printer cartridge is somewhat expensive but as it has a capacity of 10,000 pages, it will last for some time and is probably more cost-effective (on a per page basis) than the other printer cartridges which are cheaper but have smaller print capacities. I do like the duplex printing feature and it is easy to turn off and on. Overall, a good, solid, hard-working printer for a printing-intensive office.
