I have to use this for work and scan multiple docs out to others via email. We have cleaned the glass and plastic strip multiple times and it keeps coming back over and over again. We are very disappointed with this printer and it was bought for a business through Staples on line. DON"T waste your money on this model.....JUNK!!!!!

The only difficulty was that the instructions that came with the printer said not to connect the USB cable until prompted to do so by the installer software. Well, the installer never prompted you to do so, and it could not find the printer because the cable was not connected. Once I solved that the installation went without a hitch. The printer is working very well, and so far I love it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I like that it is quiet, scan to email feature. I love HP products because they are built to last! I had a Brother MFP, didn't use it much and it died in a year. All my other HP printers color laserjet, HP pavillion are all still going strong after 10 years old. When I am in a store and I see people looking at computers and printers, I tell them to buy HP because they are built to last. I work for a computer reseller and I am HP certified tech and I tell people HP is the best. We still have customers with Laserjet 4000 printers!

Is very fast, and I like it, but lately I have had some problems printing because jobs that have already printed are stuck in the que somehow and my new jobs don't have enough memory to print. Very strange. I have no idea what is going on. Hope it clears itself up. Also, the printer was delivered by Fed Ex, and it was left up at my front gate, about 700 feet from the house and not within sight of the house. I am lucky it was not picked up by someone driving by.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fabulous. Corona Virus.., JUST what I needed!!! Got a note from the government asking for copies of several documents. BUT, I'm isolating for the Corona Virus so I can't get out. A quick order to HP brought my MF printer. Not only could I scan my documents, I could FAX them directly to where they had to go. A little later, I found I could PRINT from my PHONE!!! WOW!!! It WAS a little tricky to set up but, once done, it just works and works exceedingly fine. Thanks!!! Well worth the price!

I had my heart set on another printer. After explaining what I needed, he suggested another model. His explanation was wonderful!!! And, I listened to his suggestions. Now, I couldn't be happier!!! It suits my needs perfectly. It brought me into the 21st Century! Thanks HP for great products and representatives.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from You can't beat HP LaserJet Printers I now have had 2 HP LaserJet over the years. And never did I ever have any problems with my old reliable LaserJet 6. I am in the real estate and notary business, and my office needed a hi-speed LaserJet that could print both letter and legal in the same print job. And my print jobs average 200 pages. So I chose the HP LaserJet Pro MFP M428fdw, and purchased the 3rd tray for only legal size paper, while dedicating tray 2 for letter sized paper. And let me tell you, this printer is amazing! I download the file and save it to my computer. Then I open the printer software and print. It's that easy. The printer sees the size of the page to print and pulls from the correct tray every time. This printer is installed via wifi to my computer and the connection speed and print speed is great, no lags at all. I then take the documents to my client's home to get them signed. Then it's back to the office where I use the incredible "scan to computer" feature to create 200 page PDFs (of both letter and legal size scans) to email back to the lender. I've run almost 2500 pages through this process since I bought the printer a couple weeks ago. My workflow productivity has increased at least 50%. What a great printer this is! Thanks HP. Get yourself one, you won't ever be disappointed. You just cannot beat the reliability and simplicity of this workhorse.

Print quality and speed are very good. I have a sister HP printer in the office and just within the last year the overall construction has become cheaper—thinner plastic all around. Seems a lot more delicate.

She remotely logs in to my HP477dn when she wants to print color. Scanning is a feature she has never been able to do on her own. After a few short minutes on the phone with the HP HELP DESK, she hasn’t asked me to scan a single document for her. I’m free, thank you HP!!!!

In preparation of this event we researched replacing two of the older printers... which were replaced with this one. The secure connectivity feature was must for us ina wireless office, no worries. It was quick and easy to setup all the functions. One of the it best features is its small footprint. HP designers packed a lot of features in this little gem.

It seems to have all of the features of the old device and a few new ones as well. Setup was very simple with the built in guide and I was up and running within less than one hour with all features tested and working.

I use it to print on my wireless network from my laptop, my almost smartphone and even my wife's iPad. I'm able to scan documents and email them to my customers in their preferred PDF format. What a Great addition to my homebased business.

However, from time to time, when I replenish the paper in the printer, the printer keeps telling me (on the computer screen) that the tray is still empty of paper. I need to reboot the printer for it to start printing.

What wasn't apparent is that this device shuts down after a specific time and doesn't offer a way to disable the timer or have a way to schedule time periods to shut down. Requiring someone to break isolation to turn it on so that faxes can arrive while we are working from home.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Scan to SharePoint does not work Overall it is a good printer. However one of the reasons I purchased the product was the ability to scan to SharePoint. That was stated as a feature on the box and the marketing materials. In real life, it will not scan to SharePoint 365 which is the MS hosted platform and for practical purposes, the only product they sell. I only found this out by searching in the knowledge base after opening a support ticket

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Scanning functionality is inferior Using the scan interface results in extreme file size bloat, file size is 10x larger than file scanned using Acrobat interface. The problem? When I use Acrobat scan function, it feeds three or four pages at a time, so it feels like HP sabotaged the non HP scan program. Very disappointing.

It makes clear copies with no wait. It is versatile with plenty of functions. It takes less space than the previous version and with more options. I highly recommend HP. Be aware and do not buy through PayPal, they have lousy customer service!

I tried to scan a document (something that was simple and took 2 minutes to set up on my last HP which cost half as much) It took several calls (and many long waits) over two days till a very nice woman in Costa Rica set it up so I could scan. A week or so later I tried to scan and it had reverted again to where I have to call. I've been putting that off for weeks. Not looking forward to wasting another day doing it.

It worked fine for a while and now routinely goes offline and won't reconnect. Have spent the last three hours trying to reconnect, reinstall drivers, and trouble shoot. Thank god I'm not in medical school or anything--oh wait, I am. I just need the thing to work. Would not recommend. You are losing a customer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quality prints, a bit bulky I love HP products and have had many of their printers. The quality and extensive features are second to none with this printer. However, having a printer this size in your home office can be a bit inconvenient. It just doesn't really fit well on top or under my desk. My favorite feature is the ability to connect wirelessly, which does allow me to keep the printer away from my computer. This does sometimes drop connection which isn't the most reliable.

We were looking for a great all in one for our small home office, that could print all of our documents quickly and with high-quality. This one machine replaced our old laser printer and our fax machine, and everything about it is so easy to use. The display is the easiest I've used to navigate, making changing settings a breeze. The web printing is a great feature so you can just send an email to the printer, and it will print it off. Removing and replacing the ink cartridge takes me only 10 seconds. Finally, I cannot get over the quality of the print. The black consistency and accuracy is superb!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from i would highly recommend this product! I was unaware of this sort of printer/scanner/faxer was this simple and convenient! I decided to give this a try and I'm in love! The LED light touch screen is just the right size and easy to operate/control the printer options. The faxer is amazing and pretty fast faxing things off in a timely manner! I have used the printer for printing stuff off from google and its very fast and convenient. The printer doesn't make the papers have any ink smears or any faded areas unless your printer is going out of ink. The printer itself is a little on the heaver side but its quality made. I have not had a single problem out of this printer since I've received it! In conclusion I would highly recommend this printer/faxer/scanner to any close family members or friends!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fast set up and easy to use We started looking for a new printer and found the HP LaserJet Pro MFP M428fdw. The idea of a laser printer was more appealing since it more cost efficient and has been quality prints. After unpacking our laser printer, it was a simple plug in the printer and our mobile devices hooked up on their own. I was able to print from my iPhone and iPad with no issues at all. Then we downloaded the PC software and the scanning tool which took literally a few minutes. There is also an option to hook up multiple devices which is great for a small business. The scanner can send any document or picture to my email, computer or print in seconds. This printer also does 2 sided prints with a 50 pages auto feeder. In just a minute you can have 28 pages printed. I also like that if we have no wireless connection, we can hook up directly to the printer. Another thing I like is this printer is so quiet and energy efficient. The printer comes with all the hookups, toner cartridge and a set up guide. The color touch screen is about 4.3 inches. It is easy to see and use. You can set the setting according to your print needs or you can manually set up each time you print. There is a feature that allows for different printing qualities so I can print a test sheet at a lower quality before running a lot of prints saving on the toner. There is a USB port for quick use. The on and off button is on the front of the printer. Having everything I need in a compact printer is such a space saver. This printer can print, scan, copy and fax. Also, it can hold up to 350 pages so less time replacing paper. Another feature I like is I can set up my fax to print me a confirmation page, so I know my documents are sent and received. What I do not like about this printer is the lack of directions on how to change the toner cartridge. Also, I am old school I like a user manual with troubleshooting which is not included in this printer. Overall, I am happy with my printer.

Product is fine for what it is, however, I searched the website for a different COLOR Laser printer that was unavailable and this product was suggested as a substitute. Unfortunately for me the suggested printer, that was more expensive, only prints in B&W not in COLOR. Clearly user error, but would suggest that the suggestions provided by HP at least have the same primary feature, ie color.

I did not have to enter any wifi pins or passwords during the setup process. When it finally connected to my router it was on the 5 Ghz channel. HP wants you to create an HP Smart account to activate your warranty, easier loading on other computers that you have and it allows you to sign in to the app. Be patient "Grasshopper" with the setup process. There is some reference online that ,once started, if you do not complete the registration process within 2 hours that you will have to reset the network settings in the printer. The user manual does not state this. The printer prints out clear and crisp text, though I have not used the scanner yet. This replaced a brand C printer. The only CON so far is the LCD panel is a bit small and the settings, wireless , etc are these little 1/4" button press areas on the screen. The main selections like copy, scan are 1/2" in size on the screen.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from You should know before buying any HP printer USED Hp Officejet pro 8600 plus locked after reset ?01-28-2021 05:29 PM This issue is across all HP printer products and you don't find it out until later Product: OfficeJet Pro 8600 Plus Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 (64-Bit) I've seen several posts about this issue it seem HP decided they didn't like the fact people were choosing to not overly priced replacement HP ink cartridge's so the snuck in one of their software updates to lock the printer no matter if they put a new set of HP Cartridges in and reset it people could not get their printers unstuck. Support does have a working method to unlock the printer but wont share unless the person signs up and pays a yearly maint. fee plus their forcing you to only use original brand overly priced new cartridges not even HP refills will work. I think this is the biggest case of corporate greed I've seen its really too bad they can't really see what its going to do to their company. Look at the product this one decision has created dumping into our landfills across the world not just in printers but these stupid little plastic cartridges. I happened to think the HP office jet pro 8600plus printer is the best designed and solid quality in quite sometime... maybe ever. I have recommended it at least a dozen times. Now I will never ever buy another HP product of any kind and never would I recommend their company to anyone. I will be walking my printer out to the garbage today and start looking for a different printer brand. MTNDEW69

I use the best quality print paper and I was still unable to print with out jams. After a few hours of trying to resolve the issue. I just called it a day and returned the product. I don't need 24 hrs to decide the product was a "lemon" and replaced the purchase with a better product BROTHER.

I purchased it from the HP website in October of 2020 and its performance was absolutely perfect up until about 3 weeks ago. It started not responding when I sent print jobs to it from my iMac. When this happens, I have to turn it off and turn it back on and the job prints. I don't know what could be causing this issue. It's an inconvenience, but I still am very happy with the machine.

The printer is super fast and then it is not. For some reason it gets hung up quite a bit.An item gets stuck in the printer que. I then have to pull the plug and turn it back on. Only then does the item in the que finally print. I seached how to fix this and have no luck. Customer service is nill. Only searchable categories. Why do we have to search the web for hours to get something fixed these days?!

Now we have the M428. They are work horse machines. Love the wireless feature! It allows normal print or scan, but I can also connect to it with my phone. Great machines with a great history.

Constantly need to walk over to printer to acknowledge what paper I want to print on and which drawer, there is only one drawer.

Technical support in India was unable to solve the issue, and that cost us quite a bit of time. We expected better from HP. From a standpoint of printing and scanning the printer is outstanding. It is fast and clear. Considering there are two models, one with Wi-Fi and one without, and the WiFi is a few dollars more, it should have worked reliably. Our company makes wireless enabled devices, and as such we have good competency in this area. We have other wireless printers on the same network that are working reliably. That is the only negative.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from HP 426dfw vs HP 428dfw Our office has 2 units of each model -- and the 426 models out perform the 428 (the upgrade version to 426) each and every day. We must print mutliple copies of a 6pg double sided form - and when all the staff are using the printers, the 428's jam & reprint more than one copy while the 426's just keep chugging along. So in our opinion, shame on HP for spouting the 428 is a much better, upgraded model when in fact, the original machine was just fine.

However if you want to have a wired printer it is more complicated to find the software and get it installed. In a corporate infrastructure you will want to research before installing software. If you just want a wired connection use the basic install software - not obvious on the support website

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Need to Replace toner when it is at 20% Remaining!!!! I have owned previous HP Laser Jet Pro Printers and LOVED Them. I am in shock that HP has it set up so that when your ink gets low (20% remaining) it squeals to the point that you think a gear is grinding or? I have to say I believe this is on purpose. The old printers you could continue to print for a month and didn't have to replace even when it said it was empty. Now you need to replace toner ink months before empty. A set of Toner cartridges are $289 for HP version(Don't use fake version) . I went from a huge HP fan to think a bit before purchasing from them now.
