Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for your average Joe! Got this for xmas, so I'm not that equipped with all its accessories and functions yet... However, it has great processing power and speed. The laptop itself is very sleek, thin, and lightweight. I really like how I feel typing on it. I'm not the biggest fan of HP in general, but this computer is actually really nice. Especially realizing now how expensive it is holy cow. I would honestly add though that it does not seem worth the price. I'm pretty technologically challenged (all technology seems pretty much the same to me), so don't take my opinion too seriously. Back to my point though: this computer is great for someone who just needs a strong computer to do school or work on. I'm a full time student, so this computer is great (long battery, light, and thin) to bring places and work on things throughout the day.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Prone to problems! I've been using this computer for awhile and it does what I need it to do, but it comes with an abundance of problems. First, the major issue is that it's prone to blue-screens frequently. This typically occurs when trying to physically move the laptop after leaving it idle for a short period of time. The speakers also become an issue when leaving your laptop closed can somehow ruin the speakers for awhile. After opening your laptop from sleep mode, the quality is ruined. Whenever sound is playing (from music or watching a YouTube video), it emits quiet white noise. When the sound is paused, the speakers then emit a random frequency (typically >4kHz). The frequency doesn't stop being emitted until sound plays again. The screen itself is prone to being disconnected from the metal framing if opened in an "incorrect" way (i.e. opening with your thumb fast). The microphone is okay if you're not really concerned for audio fidelity, but using earbuds with a microphone can be a struggle when no one can hear you, even when the mic is next to your mouth. This is NOT due to another program, but with the given mic settings that HP provides. The camera is also okay-ish, but for a laptop that's being marketed for an expensive price, it's definitely not the best. For something that is marketed as a top-notch product, it doesn't meet the standards as it promised it would surpass. Overall, this product isn't really the best for me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A great workhorse! Zero issues with this PC, I work on it 8+ hours a day and never have a problem. Anyone who says that theirs is acting up is probably watching a lot of XXX and downloading spam.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Terrible laptop Cons: - heavy - bulky - average resolution - brand new and still need to reboot it 4-5 times a day - cannot really have anything work properly on this laptop while no problem with other brands

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Small thing that does wonders :) My company gave it to me for work and this is an amazing, fast, performance laptop. Use it properly and there shouldn't be any problems.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from HATE the keyboard I just purchased my 2nd HP Elitebook 840, primarily because of the small size. I absolutely HATE the new keyboard. If the goal was to make it a pain in the butt to use, you succeeded 100%. Good job! If I could return it, I would... I've also had to buy adaptors because of the lack of suitable ports.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from $350 laptop with a $1500 price tag. I am on my third company HP laptop in the span of four years. I do not abuse my devices and yet I have had keys literally fall off, cooling fans become inoperative, BSOD, etc. The track pad on my 840 G5 is the most temperamental and counter intuitive device possibly in existence and constantly stops working; Ironically as I was typing this review, the two finger scroll became inoperative. Cons: See above + Battery life is average at best. The screen becomes extremely loose after a short period of time. - Pros: Bang & Olufsen speakers are quite loud and perform fairly well. Overall, I cannot see what makes up the cost of this laptop.
