Rated 5 out of 5 by from Avoid if you can I know you might be tempted, please don't. Recognizable brand name doens't always mean good quality. If it weren't for my employer, I would never use this laptop. Give me constant problems. Connecting to a 4k screen and the laptop fans spin very loudly and the speaker grill area above the kepboard heats up, to a point making typing quite unpleasant. There's a space for a 2.5" drive, but the adapter is not pre-installed. The SD card reader has no dummy card inside to protect it. Yeah, it doesn't sound like a big problem, until an insect crawled in and kind of melted inside, rendering it unsable. As of this morning, the laptop no longer plays sound to headset. And oh, if you think this laptop is upgrade-friendly, think again. The under cover make sures that you never want to upgrade. Who made a laptop aimed at pro, yet make it *very* hard to open the under cover? How is this qualified as a mobile workstation? My personal laptop is a gaming laptop from another major brand. A part from slightly inferior screen and slower reading speed from the SD card reader, everything else is better than this laptop. And oh, it's "way" cheaper.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from null This computer is exactly what I was hoping for. There aren't too many laptops that offer a full backlit keyboard with a number pad. Performance has been excellent, as has been the battery life. I could easily work on a flight cross country without recharging. This machine is a dream!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So far so good! I got this after a different laptop didn't work for me. It seems to be great, doesn't get too hot and it's pretty quick. I hope it stays like this after working on it for a while but it looks like it can handle a workload.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Pretty Terrible Experience So Far I've always owned Dell's, but I wanted something powerful and affordable and this seemed like a great fit, so I went for it. Performance was great for the two months it worked, but now it's sitting at HP for repair with an estimated repair date that's now been extended to of over a month after I sent it in. I'm not sure why HP thinks that is an acceptable wait time for a brand new $1,500 device, but I wont be purchasing an HP again, I can assure you. Other notes are that (1) the weird spring loaded ethernet port that allows the edges of the machine to be thinner wont release an ethernet cable without literally having to shove something in to force the tab down from inside the port and (2) the fan discharge is in a terrible location for a laptop, air blows out of the bottom half of the back, so if you're actually using it in your lap or on a fabric surface, the ports are blocked and your legs will be burning. Overall the performance was worth the cost and fan/ethernet annoyances, but the crazy short lifespan and subsequent terrible support brings me here to tell you to stay away from this machine.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Not a good laptop to run AutoCad Got this laptop through my employer and it's pretty disappointing. The laptop is billed as a mobile workstation but cant handle powerful tasks. I run AutoCad civil 3d and the laptop sounds like it is going to lift off with fan noise when i launch the application, so noticeable my co workers joke about it! While the application is running it really struggles with any of the 3d visualization tasks like 3d orbit, even with just simple linework contours before i even get to rendered surfaces.
