This product and Lenovo are SUCH BS. They didn't even tell me that this product wouldn't be compatible with my laptop (which crapped out in 1 year... NEVER AGAIN!)... and then it was such a hassle to do a return and refund. I haven't even gotten my money and it's been a year.
NEVER buy from Lenovo in general! Stay away! Save yo money, people! You've been warned!

I wanted to start drawing on my laptop so I purchased this pen. It is really amazing. I was worried when I opened the box and there was a battery and not a charger, but it hasn't ran dead yet so I think it lasts a while. The pen allows you to draw very light, and dark (with a lot of pressure). If you are looking for a pen to write notes with or mess around on an art program, this is a great product.

Great alternative pen for 300e(AMD) Windows Laptop
I recently bought a 300e (AMD) Windows laptop which didn't come with the stowable pen option. Searching through the Lenovo online store I came across this Lenovo Active Pen which in the description states it was compatible with the 300e Windows laptops. And sure enough, it works perfectly! I also have installed Ubuntu Linux 22.04 on the 300e and the pen functions well in the linux operating system environment too. The pen itself has a quality build with a very nice black color scheme. Also, the pen is of good size and feel, more on the lines of a regular pen, not like the smaller/slimmer stowable option. All in all, this is a great alternative pen for my new 300e (AMD) Windows laptop.

The only down side is the button on the side
Overall the pen feels really good, my laptop is able to sense the pen and the feeling is really close to writing with an actual pen and paper. However, when writing I always pressed the button on the side by accident, thus triggered the erase function; what happens often is that I’m writing something and it just got erased the next second. But that’s the only down side I see with this pen.

Super easy to use and I never have issues with it detecting my palm instead of the pen. It’s also a great size and I love that it comes with the holder and replacement tips. The buttons are also super convenient for erasing and selecting.

Product works fine. Pen storage in USB slot idea is ridiculous. Considering there's limited USB slots as it is. Plus it interferes with another USB device if storing pen.

I love this pen! It works great with my lenovo laptop. It syncs up every time with 0 issues. It makes taking notes directly on slides very easy. I also occasionally use it for browsing, instead of using my finger to scroll and select, and the pen works wonderfully for that.

Absolutely loved this product. This was my first digital pen and I was a bit nervous about which I should buy or not. Nonetheless, Lenovo customer service was very helpful in figuring out which pen would be supported by my laptop. My laptop supported only Lenovo active pen (and didn't support Lenovo active pen 2, and I bought this one. This product needs no Bluetooth and uses AAAA battery (came in the box) and reportedly lasts 6 months (I haven't had this product for that long).
Before pairing the pen with my laptop, I had to install some required drivers (you might need to do so if you keep your laptop fairly updated) to ensure it runs smoothly. Other than that, pen needs no other pairing and runs perfectly.
Product works amazing, and has surprising amount of pressure sensitivity. I experienced no lag with the pen's position and the hovering of the pen pointer. I use this pen for class notes one OneNote 2019, and there were some instances (very rare) when lower barrel button would not respond. But, these kinds of error are removed once you restart your laptop, thus indicating that these errors were caused by windows error or the OneNote software error.
Pen is smooth to touch on the screen. Pen is slim yet with enough girth to fit and feel perfectly in your hand.

Functions well, hard to grip
The pen works well. The two buttons are great for accomplishing regular tasks quickly and with ease. However, the shape and texture of the pen leave something to be desired. It is cylindrical and smooth that and it’s not big around to grip well make writing a bit uncomfortable.

I recently purchased the Lenovo Active Pen and I'm really enjoying it. It has a very nice feel and work well with my Flex 14. I have Windows 365 and the pen integrates extremely well. One serious issue I have is that the instructions to sync the pen with the PC are completely wrong. The instructions show the pressing of a cap button, but there isn't one. In fact, the sync is really much more simple. Just insert battery, open Blue Tooth app and it's done. The other issue is the USB holder hides the power button on the Flex 14 which means every time I start up the PC, I have to remove the pen. Just a slight inconvenience.

This is my first experience with a quality pen used with Windows 10. I am still learning how to use the applications that support the pen and it is a really cool experience. The pen is very accurate and natural feeling. Customize features and options to your personal taste. Very well integrated into the Yoga 2 in 1 platform. Great add on item!

This pen is a little smaller than the one that came with my Yoga 920 and that is nice! It fits comfortably in my hand, just like a regular pen. While I'm not an artist, I did play with the Sketch Pad feature on the Yoga and it was great how quickly it drew things, just as if I was using a pen and paper! Next, I used it while on Facebook to to 'write' comments on posts. I couldn't believe how quickly it wrote text! Again, it was just about as fast as using a pen and paper. Then I used it as a stylus to play games on FB. This wasn't as responsive but I don't think that was the pen's fault, I think it was more the games I was playing and how they are developed. Finally, I was in a class where they emailed us the powerpoint slides before the class. This pen was awesome because I could pull up the powerpoint and take notes right on the individual slides and then save them as a separate document! LOVE THIS PEN!

I bought this with my Yoga 720. I had a Microsoft Surface Pro 2.0 that was starting to get low on resources. It had a pen that I loved using. This one is a little different, way more sensitive, so it's been a learning curve to use it. I really like it, though!

So nice had to buy it twice
Picked up a second active pen, so nice I had to buy it twice. Gives me the freedom from using paper to jot down notes. Only downside is the AAAA battery as it is hard to source locally. It feels like writing with a ballpoint pen, while I use fountain pens normally. So it could use a bit of friction but if like using ballpoint you won’t notice a difference.

Lenovo Miix 2 8 Illustration and design review
The pen is a heavy and quality made design. I have a Lenovo Miix 2 8 tablet. It may be the tablet but I was unable to draw illustrations. I replaced the tip but the tracking is poor. I like Lenovo products and enjoyed drawing on the X series Thinkpad tablets. I think I will go back to the Thinkpad.

I am amazed by this pen! I am a traditional artist, so to be able to impress me with any sort of electronic drawing technology is nearly impossible. But this pen is reactive, very sensitive, and perfect for what I need it for. The tips are interchangeable, which is great because now I know I that any wear and tear on it can be easily fixed and my drawings won't be affected. The only thing I wish was different would be the fact I cannot charge it. And the AAAA battery I am probably going to have to order online. Good news is, it lasts a long time, but A rechargeable option would make this pen perfect.

Responsive and accurate. I often press the buttons on accident when I'm drawing due to where they're located on the pen. I wish it had a grip because it slides through my fingers too easily. I also wish it had an on/off button so I knew it wasn't draining the battery. I am happy with it, I've drawn beautiful images with it, and I'm impressed for its price!

Pros: This pen works very good and the inturstions provided to set it up were easy and simple to follow. The bottons make clicking or highlighting easy when using it.
Cons: The only con for me was the lack of instructions or explaination of it's features. A link to a video or some guidance is better than nothing which it came with. It took a while to learn what I do know now, but having to search to uncover if I were able to use all the feature was uncalled for.

We ordered this pen as the "at the desk" pen!
While the C930 has a pen we wanted one for use at the desk. This one fills the bill. It is our first pen of this type and are very happy with how it works. It will take a little time for us to learn all it can do, but looking forward to that.

Misleading
It says it works on 900s but after purchasing a new yoga 910 and this pen, I come to find that it actually is not supported on the yoga 910.. just the 920. Why it doesn’t simple say that in the product description or on the computer specks, I am very confused and a bit angry and unhappy with my computer choice now.

Not what I was expecting
It does not work with all the 900s. My yoga computer is not compatible with this pen and it took me several tries and new batteries later to finally find online that this was the case. The 900s in the title is misleading, so I wasted money buying it. As for the pen itself, it feels fine, it is light but it still does not feel natural. I like the holder that you can install in your computer to have the pen on the side. But, I prefer now to buy the laptop that has that internal slot for a pen.

Still one of the best pens on the market
I had the Pen 2 and lost it. So, my wife was trying to surprise me with a replacement pen and purchased the Pen 1 instead of the Pen 2. At 1st I thought it was going to be a loss but I haven't missed a beat with the Pen 1. Still one of the best pens on the market.

This sucks!
I bought this pen to go with my new Flex 5 2-in-1. I came with instruction on how to install the battery. For further instructions, it says to go to 'lenovo.com/support' which defaults not to support, but rather to the home page, so they can try to sell you something. When you do navigate to support, the search box is unaware that such a product exists, and yields no results. Go to 'contact us,' and you cannot ask a question such as, 'What do the two buttons do?' without selecting your product. Which their own website is unaware even exists. So, I can draw a line on the screen. Don't know how to change settings, don't know what the buttons do, and apparently neither does Lenovo. As I said, this product (and Lenovo support in general sucks. PS - before I can submit this review, I have to select the 'primary use of this product.' I don't know what the primary use of this product is, as Lenovo is unable to tell me how it works. I'll have to choose something at random.

Okay stylus. A little uncomfortable.
The stylus worked well with my Lenovo Flex 6 laptop (AMD 14" - 81HA0007US). No complaints as far as operation, but it is a little bit too skinny to be comfortable for extended use. The USB stylus holder is a nice thought, but I'm afraid to leave the stylus in it when I'm putting the laptop in and out of my bag, because I'm afraid it will come free and I'll lose it. So it doesn't add much value for me.

Test with miix 700
Pressure senstivity is functional only on the right part of the screen.
left side and speciallly upper left is not operate correctly with pen. capture is so erractic that writing is impossible and even trying a straight line.
Can't find issue.
Miix 700 is new 1 day.

This pen is actually work pretty well.
It is very accurate and the sketch pad is very much like the real thing.
There are a couple of concerns though.
1. The buttons on the side don't stick out at all so unless you already have your fingers on the buttons you have to stop and feel around for them.
2. I know this was fixed in the active pen 2 but I could really use a button on the opposite end of the pen.
Other than that it is definitely worth the money.

Got the 910 4 k, amazing but like many road warriors as soon as I got it up I wanted backup power cable, a stlylus and ports, docking station and ready to go. Lenovo site just sucks. No recommendation, no stylus, no available power cords. Learn to market full products...

Not the proper pen for my laptop
I received an active pen 1 when the one shown for my Yoga 730 is the active pen 2. One glaring issue is that there were no installation instructions with the pen. Instructions only showed how to insert the battery. Several hours with Lenovo tech support (mostly trying to find someone who knew about the pen). One finally sent me an e-mail with the instructions. Unfortunately, it was the same that was included showing how to install the battery and nothing else. Also, all of the online instructions I found were for the Active Pen 2 which is also what is shown at the left of this review form.

Great pen for the price.
This pen seems to stand up well, though this is the first wacom pen I've ever used more than 5 minutes in a store. Got this from Lenovo's website when I bought my Yoga 720 15, and it works wonderfully. Pressure is great, buttons are clicky and responsive, and the battery seems to last a while (I've used it off and on for about a month now and haven't had to change it yet). The one downside to this pen is that it's a fully steel device with no coating on it, so if your hands are dry, it can be a bit slick. It would be nice if it had some kind of soft-touch coating on the metal that gave it some grip. As it stands, my pen has the grip taken off of a ballpoint pen and it's working very well. Palm rejection is pretty good, and the wacom tools on my laptop give the pen more functionality through remapping the buttons.

Will not pair with Yoga 920
I have a Yoga 920. I bought two of the pens so I could have one at home and one at the office. Neither will pair following the provided instructions and searching extensively on the internet and Lenovo's website for solutions.. At some point I will try to contact Lenovo Customer Support but for now the pens are were a waste of money. Even if I eventually get the pens to work and they are great it is hard to imagine they will be worth the effort I am having to put into this.

No Instructions, doesn't Work!! DISAPPOINTED!!!
I bought this pen because it says in the title that it works with Yoga 720. It comes with no instructions, I can't even get it to turn on!!! I tried buying new batteries, tried the batteries in all ways possible... I went to look for "tech support".... NADAAAAA the product doesn't even exist in the support webpage. I was sooo excited with having my pen and this just sucks!!! The worst part is that stupidly I threw away the returning label... so now I think I just threw my money to the trash... SOOO DISAPPOINTED!!!!

Great stylus
Bought it 2 months ago with my yoga 720 15 4k edition. It's a very responsive and accurate pen. Sensitivity is fairly good it gives you different line thickness according to the stylus pressure. The 2 buttons on the stylus works when touching the screen and can be programmed to run different apps or erase or undo something. The only thing improvement I would like to see is an eraser like functionality built into the stylus. Otherwise it is a smooth and reactive pen that does it all well.

I haven't made much use of the pen because 1) it's my first time using a stylus on a laptop, 2) its holder is a little awkward...I wish it would rotate up or down depending on how I'm using the Yoga I have, and 3) it's a bit imprecise when I'm using it to select different apps on the comp.

First time using a pen... The erase bottom is in the spot that I hold it so I end up having to move around the pen intermittently. Otherwise, I like how easily it moves on screen and its accuracy

This pen works great with my 2 in 1. It is weighted well and feel very responsive. It works really well for note-taking and digital drawing. My only complaint is the buttons on the side of the pen can be difficult to locate. It would be nice if the buttons were designed to be a slightly different color or texture.

Good pen but has some design/marketing flaws
I have been using a pen with my tablet/laptops since Lenovo first introduced them, so I'm used to using a pen. I purchased the Miix 700 as it looked like a GREAT new pen platform and would enable me to upgrade from my Lenovo Tablet 2. The problem was, Lenovo didn't have a pen that worked with it - even though they advertised a pen in the photos.
This problem is now solved with the new Lenovo Active Pen. It does everything a pen should do for me. It's a good size, it writes smoothly, and it works fine. Now for the problems...
- In order to use it, I had to install a BIOS patch. As a long time PC user, I don't have a problem with this. However, NOBODY at Lenovo support seems to know about the patch. It took several hours to find it. To add insult to injury, it is NOT supported byt he same people who support the Miix700. It's supported by the Think Support Group (whoever that is). Unfortunately, they will try to bounce you back to the Miix support people. So - install the patch and all is good.
- Lenovo's design team came up with a creative way to allow you to attach the pen to your tablet when you're not using it. The pen comes with a plastic USB holder that plugs into your USB port! Bad idea. It will get lose and fall out eventually. Also, you need to remove it to plug in a USB device (duh). Since when I'm at home, I plug into a USB 3 dock so I can use a full size keyboard and mouse and my large Lenovo monitor, I'm pulling it out all the time. How about a nice case to put the pen in when you're not using it as a Tablet?
- This is (as the name implies) an active pen. This means you need to keep batteries in it. On top of that, it's a AAAA battery - not one you'll find at your local store. So, I guess I'll buy one and keep it in my carrying case. Grrrrr
Lenovo does provide you with several spare tips and a tool for replacing them. I've only worn through a tip once, but it's nice to have them.
Overall, as I said before, it's a nice pen. There's just some design issues they didn't address and I feel they could/should have done better. But if you like using a pen, as I do, get it!

I am finding I'm not even using this pen. I'm not exactly sure how to use it - there are pieces I'm not sure of the purpose, not sure the purpose of the battery. Basically, it doesn't have any directions, so I'm a bit lost on the purpose.

Pen works, be aware of Laptop pen bundle issue
The pen itself works as expected, The only real problem is that if you think you are saving money by getting a laptop and pen bundle, your not getting what your expecting. The bundled pen does not come with any additional nibs or removal tool so you will be replacing this pen far sooner than expected. Very disappointed that lenovo choose to not include a few cents worth of nibs and removal tool with my new expensive flex 5 laptop I purchased.

The pen seems well constructed, a top (erase) button would have been nice. It seems to function well, however the mini menu button software seems not well thought out. I come from the Samsung note line of phones, so I am comparing it to that. Supposedly there was some writing / sketch software that use to be downloadable, but can no longer be found. Using the in build windows "art" application is pretty lame. I bet if they bundled this with an app and refined the control software it would be a 5 star product. Great price!

Its a good styles but it works only on lenovo products, Byers compare to other in the market. Absorbs the palm and the draw as the user wants with precision. I think the two limitations are it dosnt work with all the major products and second its battery power. Else this product is good.

it is a pen... comes with a "neat" USB holder that plugs into a USB slot and holds the pen. would have been better if it was 1.) integrated into computer (stored in chassis) 2.) you didn't have to purchase separately at a slightly high (in my opinion) cost.

Ive had a few stylus pens Ive used in the past. A great many of them weren't anywhere near good cause I was skeptical about spending money on them. This pen however does exactly what I need it to do. I write rather quickly and sloppy so having a pen that can register what I am writing is a huge plus

I’ve been using Lenovo Active Pen with my Yoga 720 for about a month now, primarily for note-taking and other school work. It came with a AAAA size battery, USB pen holder, 3 replacement nibs and a nib extractor. Just put in the battery and you’re ready to go. Doesn’t require pairing or driver installation. The packaging looks decent and contains everything you’ll need to get started.
This pen is very comfortable to hold and has a good heft to it. The metal body gives it a premium feel. There are two buttons on the side which I believe can have customized functionality. One thing I noticed, the buttons don’t have a high enough bump and they kind of blend into the pen's body. So it can get tricky to find the buttons only by touch. But the placement of the buttons itself feels natural and they are easily reachable. Writing with this pen feels very smooth, perhaps too smooth sometimes but you get used to it. I used this pen straight out of the box and never calibrated it, yet it’s still extremely accurate and responsive with good pressure sensitivity. It is super handy when you’re taking notes and you need to draw or quickly jot something down. Overall, I’ve loved having this pen and I think it’s well worth the price. I would definitely recommend this for anyone who takes notes for school.
Pros:
- Easy setup process, no pairing or driver installation required
- It has a nice aluminum feel to it, and feels very comfortable on my hand
- Comes with USB pen holder, so I can keep it “attached” to my computer and not lose it
- No need to turn it on or anything, can get right to work just like a real pen

I knew that I wanted this pen, but was skeptical
I knew that I wanted this pen, but was concerned about storage. I was surprised to find out upon receiving it that it included a USB port holder that could be used two ways. As I use the pen I can hold it in an upright position using the USB port holder and when storing I can hold the pen horizontal in the same port. Not thrilled that it takes up a port to have storage, but I'm glad that the designers thought of a storage solution. You need a battery for the pen to work, but that's not a deal breaker for me. It works well with Yoga 720. Fast response, accurate selection in Photoshop. I'm glad I decided to get the pen.

Works well as a stylus, especially if you want to avoid getting grease stains on your touch screen. The writing is not fluid enough to make me want to use it for written notes, I'd still rather type.

Title says it all. I'm happy with it and I've been using it since the beginning of the school year (about a month) and it hasn't bugged out on me. I just wish it wasn't so expensive and included with the laptop. I use a 60 dollar drawing tablet for digital art, and it's just baffling to have to pay half that price for just the pen.
My only other issue is that the buttons on the pen are flush with the cylinder of the body. Meaning sometimes my fingers slip and when I grip the pen too hard I, without knowing I'm on top of the buttons, start erasing instead of drawing!

I doesn't work. Customer service was only willing to deal with delivery. Since I write-able tablet was the only reason I used this PC I'm now going with a different vendor. In general, the Yoga has been lot's of trouble.

Needs to come with a manual
Got this for a Flex 6 14". Three star because it works okay. However, this needs to come with a manual that tells you how to use it. There are buttons on the pen for example but I am not sure how to use it. So I am not sure if I am maximizing the capabilities of this pen. Tried to find a manual on the Lenovo website to no avail.

good, simple, sturdy pen. Very smooth and simple to use. The buttons are re-programmable. Only problem is my fingers are large which makes using the buttons effectively a little difficult.

I bought this pen to use with my Lenovo Flex laptop. Have only had it for a short time, but I seems to work well, right out of the box. Looking forward to seeing what it can do... I am having a bit of an issue with the buttons. They are a bit too sensitive for my fingers, so I have pressed them by accident a number of times. Maybe this is just a learning curve?

Worked ok with the brand new flex notebook I bought but the notebook was junk and I ended up returning it so am stuck with the active pen which might as well be a popsicle stick because it doesn't work with my Lenovo desktop or the Dell laptop that I bought when the Flex went stupid.

I was waiting for the 900s to be launched and ordered it as soon as I received the announcement email in April. I wanted it specifically for the flexibility and the stylus. I had worked with the Surface Pro, but I didn't like the keyboard and I found that pen was too sensitive. The Lenovo stylus is fantastic and hasn't let me down at all. It's accurate, works when you want it to, and makes the Lenovo 900s the best laptop on the market for portability in my opinion. I highly recommend this computer and stylus.

Useless pen.
Absolutely useless, what a waste. The package tells you to download the 'write it' app, but they fail to tell you that the app was discontinued in 2016. Secondly, the pen with the flex 14 laptop for 2 weeks and then stopped working. The only purpose it served really was an over priced stylus. My kids used it to draw, now it doesn't even work. Don't bother buying it.

Misleading Title
If you're considering buying this, know that the "yoga 900s" is a different computer from the "yoga 900". The pen will work only with the 900s and not with the 900.

Best for note taking and annotating, smaller than the og pen it feels just like an actual ink pen, pretty precise easier to write recognizable cursive with. The two side buttons surprisingly useful once you get used to them, one button erases and one button acts as a right click. Erase button especially nice for drawing. The www.getwriteit.com url on the pens box doesn't lead to anything so unsure if they're bringing that feature back. Palm rejection worked best for drawing, note taking had more room for error since the hand moved around the page more touching random spots and throwing it off a little.

I bought this with the Lenovo Yoga 710 laptop. It’s was in the top accessory section for this specific laptop on Lenovo’s website. When I got the laptop and pen I was so excited to use them both. But the pen didn’t work and when I called customer service they reported this active pen is not compatible with my yoga 710 laptop and that they don’t have a pen that is compatible with my laptop. I just don’t understand why a pen would be in the top accessory section for a specific laptop when it isn’t even compatible.

There's a learning curve with this. Beware of the buttons on near the tip. They have uses, and they can make things tricky if you're not holding the pen right. It doesn't take long to get over this though. They run off of AAAA batteries which can be difficult to find, but it's doable. I'm really happy with my pen and laptop. I really enjoy going more green with my schoolwork!

FRUSTRATING EXPERIENCE - but works on 300e Windows
Very frustrating experience. I purchased three (3) Lenovo 300e windows computers. I saw that one version of the computer came with a pen but ours did not. No where in the description of the pen did it say that it worked with the 300e windows. I called Lenovo and Customer Service linked me to the pen. I purchased 3 of the pens. When I tried to install the first one, the link provided in the instructions was no longer active. I had to do a search to find the installation program. Then, when I found the program, it stated I had to have a certain version of Windows in order to install the program - naturally, the 300e did not have that version AND when I tried to update the machine, I was told it was running the latest version (which had a smaller number than the one the Lenovo site said I needed). Did get the pen working on my granddaughters 300e. She seems to be really happy with it. I have not had a chance to play around with it. Will try to update this when i do (having major surgery in 3 days so it will be a while).

Just got the pen and there is a big document that is more worried about safety and warranty than how to use the thing. No manual, no idea of how to use the thing. I have tried everything I can think of. A piece of junk without any idea of how to use it. I'm going to return it.

Excellent stylus pen
Worked great with my new Lenovo tablet. It feels pretty natural in my hand, and I haven’t had any issues with it yet. I do wish that the back end could be used on-screen as an eraser, but this doesn’t seem to be a feature found in most styli, sadly. Still, you won’t be disappointed with the performance of this stylus.

Great Fit for Digital Art on Lenovo Flex 5
I was in need of a pen to use alongside a Lenovo Flex 5 and this pen was the perfect fit. I specifically use the pen with Sketchbook for artmaking and although I was worried about the ability of this product to deliver the pressure sensitivity I needed, it has been amazingly responsive and great for every project I have taken on so far. I would totally recommend this pen for any digital artists.

This pen interfaces easily with my Ideapad Flex 5. The right click button utility is a little off and can be tricky, so it doesn't replace a mouse in all things. Overall, though, this a good pen and a useful tool for my touchscreen laptop.

Love Lenovo
The pen works just fine. I have another model similar the one that I purchased. My hands are large and I have trouble gripping it without hitting the button on it. Being a lefty doesn't help either. I was hoping that this model would be more ergonomic. A pen that is a bit thicker and/or an optional grip that could be removed or added as needed would be awesome. Also, move the buttons up higher on the pen. The seem to be located directly where they are gripped. I love the Yoga computer and pen. I only gave it a 3 because of the design. Functionally, it's a five.

I bought the Lenovo Active Pen for my 13yr old daughter who is a student and a artist. She loves this active pen beyond words. She lovers the pressure sensitive tip because it allows her to shade properly while drawing. The pen is great at what it is intended to do, the tip doesn't drag or put a strain on the screen. The buttons configured in such a way that must be gotten used too especially since I am left-handed and this pen, like most others, made for right-hand use.

How a touch screen pen SHOULD be!
I love this pen. It works just like the representative said it would. I am able to draw with my hand resting on the screen as if I was drawing on a real sheet of paper. What I also like about this pen is that it had advanced feature you would not find on a regular stylus, it is a perfect match to that was made for the Lenovo Yoga. Lenovo was very innovative in the eco system of the laptop and pen.

Meets my expectations
This stylus was reasonably priced and meets all of my needs. I'm not an "artist", but I use it for scribbling and for doing some digital hand-lettering, and it's responsive enough to my needs. The side buttons are pretty sensitive; I ended up turning them off because I accidentally pushed them a lot while drawing with it. The multiple levels of pressure are great and effective, as long as you find the right apps to utilize it--for me that's Sketchbook. It's definitely better than any third-party styluses I could find, especially in terms of different levels of pressure response.

Unfortunately when I received my active pen, it would not connect with my laptop and I contacted technical support. They told me the pen was likely defective. So I returned it. I would not recommend this pen because it is confusing to use and did not work.

The pen started working for me as soon as I put the battery in. I didn't have to connect it to my laptop, it just automatically connected. It took me a while to figure out that to use the buttons, the pen has to be really close to the screen (I thought the buttons just weren't working for a while). Once I customized the button settings, I found that they were really useful esp if you set one as "undo" or "ctrl-z". This is really handy if you're an artist like me and you draw on your screen and you want an easy way to undo markings with a push of a button. Only giving 4 stars bc the battery has a tendency to come loose inside the cartridge and you have to unscrew and reinsert the battery to get it working again.

The pen works fine. The top button (right click in my settings) is difficult for me to find. I have to stop what I'm doing and search for it. Maybe user error or it will get better once I've used the pen more.

The Active Pen is profoundly more useful than a stylus. It is comfortable in the hand (although it is a tad bit lighter than a traditional pen), the sensitivity is marvelous, the side buttons actually stand out so you can easily find them, and the extra blue tooth button on the top is a nice addition! To boot, its a darn good looking stylus.

I'm using this pen with the Lenovo Flex 5 (14"). The pen itself works great, easy to assemble, had a hard time activating it, but likely due to my network not connecting at first. The pen sensitivity is great, it doesn't feel awkward to hold. I write as well, and the pen makes writing down ideas or notes really easy. If I were an artist, I might not use this, but it's great for the average user. I'm not a fan of the barrel options for this pen, I don't find myself using them.

Lifesaver for Virtual School
Purchased this due to my children's increasing frustration with "virtual learning". They needed a way to be able to draw neatly on the screen. My 5th grader can easily use this to answer math problems and complete his work. The only issue we have is that if we turn our 2-in-1 laptop into a tablet to use this pen, the screen is sensitive to his hand resting on the screen while using the pen. If we use the pen while it's in laptop mode, it's awkward and his hand gets tired from holding his arm up in the air while writing. However that's really no fault of the pen.
It's sensitive, the tip is nice and thin and seems durable so far. I'm glad we purchased it and it ended the tears due to "messy work" on the laptop during virtual school!

This pen is very good if you don't want to waste money on a printer and want to do your college work via computer, or if you're just looking to draw. Between this pen and the active pen 2, I physically can't tell the difference between the pressure, but the active pen 2 tip is slightly longer and it's easier to tell where you're drawing. But this pen is just as good if you're on a budget.

Love this stylus!
I love this stylus! I actually have an HP elitebook (school issued). I am in medical school and actually take all of my notes on OneNote so I can easily access them on my laptop, phone, and tablet. Accessible on the go and also if something happens to my laptop. This stylus makes taking notes SO easy. It has a real pen feel and is not too heavy. I would highly recommend this stylus for any students who like to take notes on their laptop/tablet!

I purchased this pen upon the recommendation of a co-teacher after my first pen did not work well. I have only used the pen for a week but I have been very happy with the way it enables me to communicate with my students during online classes. I know there are several teachers in my department who have been pleased with this pen.

Overall, this pen is very good quality and was effective when I used it in AutoDesk’s Sketchbook. The only downside really of this pen is that if it is not held at a specific angle it makes a horrific searching sound on the screen. It doesn’t damage the screen as far as I can see, but it is “nails on a chalkboard” level of a cringey sound.

It writes very well on the screen of the computer. This pen does not have a button on the non-writing end (I didn't know that some did) so you only have two buttons and they don't work great for me but the pen does the job and I can't complain.

Pen works well on my IdeaPad Flex 15IWL. I have always desired a Lenovo laptop and I am pleased that I was able to finally get one and now with this added feature of the pen, I am happy as can been. Good overall but not battery performance!
I purchased it for school use and chose it for performance and light weight. I have been using around 4-5 hours daily.
Pros: sleek design , light weight , smooth touch pad, 16gb ram and 512 ssd disk .
Cons: it’s new but gets heat up quickly even when I keep the ventilation side exposing to air all the time . Battery gets drained easily with minimal use . I have to charge 2-3 times daily and I do not overcharge also because I keep it on with timer on smart switch !

Came on time and was easy to get working with my Flex 14. The only knock I have against it is the holder that plugs into a usb slot. The plastic makes it a bit flimsy and you may have to unplug and flip it over if you flip the laptop to stand the pen up.

The Lenovo Active Pen was exactly what I was looking for to help teach my students during distance learning. I'm able to write and draw directly on the screen to demonstrate math while teaching online. I was even able to sign my PDF time-sheet and return it -- no need to print it and scan. Worked great for a couple months...
This pen was phenomenal while it worked. It was like writing on paper, super responsive! I used it for all of my classes and still do. However, a couple months into having it, it would randomly stop working as I was writing. I tried changing the battery, but that didn't work and the frequency of it becoming unresponsive has increased. Hopefully this one was just defective :( I don't want to have to go back to taking notes without it. I'm a slow processor, so being able to quickly delete segments or move them around was extremely helpful for me. I'm only giving it a 1 on performance because it's not working. While it was working, it was a 5.

I bought an "open box" computer that didn't come with the active pen. This pen is great! I didn't even need to pair it. It just worked as soon as I put the batteries in. I couldn't find any information though on how long the batteries last or if there's a way to turn the pen off when not in use so the only negative would be the information available for it.

The pen connected immediately and it works well! I don't use it for a lot of things but it seems to do everything pretty well. The only issue I've had is with it not working as a highlighter in Microsoft Edge, but that might just be me not knowing how to get it to work.

Function and ease of use
The active pen was easy to get started with on the Idea Pad Flex 14. It worked right away and when paired with the WriteIt app it makes using the internet in tablet mode a whole lot easier. We have used it for a couple days and love it. My children have the Idea Pads for school use at home and the pen makes it easier to complete assignments digitally because they can write on the digital copy of the assignment and turn it in without the need to print and re-scan. My oldest uses hers on Whiteboard to draw and is enjoying the functionality of the pen. She can easily erase her mistakes using the barrel button on the pen.

Poor Description. Apparently the Yoga 900 has multiple models, and there is no information provided to direct which ones it works with. It DOES NOT work with the yoga HOME 900. Apparently, I cannot RMA either without a Tech support case, as it is not technically defective.

I'm a university student and it works great to take notes with my Yoga 720. It would've been nicer if the back end was an eraser. Also, sometimes when I write, it registers my hand touching and creates a big streak. That may be the laptop's fault though. I do recommend this pen overall.

Very pleased with Pen, Mount could use some work.
Overall, this pen works great, however, the one downside is the little plastic mount that secures the pen to the laptop. It is inserted into one of the two USB ports which decreases functionality of the laptop. With the pen itself, I am very please. Very smooth to write with and ergonomic. No lag or interruptions. All in all, a good piece of hardware.

I really enjoyed the fact that there was no complicated process to set up the pen. Once I put batteries in it I was able to use it with my Lenovo flex laptop. I like that you can customize what the buttons do and that you can change the settings for the sensitivity of the pen. It definitely added value to the computer I got.

I use an Ipad Pro with a 2nd gen pencil daily and this performs almost equally as well. It doesnt have the wireless charging or the magnetic holding, but, makes up for it in ergonomics and functionality.

Works beautifully. It uses Wacom technology so it has a decent number of pressure levels. I use it for signatures on pdf. I highly recommend Xodo pdf software for this. It works great.

Great pen, very basic
This pen is great for just standard use. It has a tiny bit of a dragging feel to it when writing, so it doesn't feel 100% natural compared to some other pens I've used. It is very precise as far as pressure sensitivity goes. The buttons are a bit complicated to setup and use, but are nice nonetheless. Would recommend for a basic, everyday pen.

The pen was used as part of the KDE Desktop Environment on Linux (kernelt 5.14.21). This stylus works flawlessly with the free and open-source Write application for Linux desktops. The pressure sensitivity also worked out of the box with the base Linux firmware stylus drivers. Experience worked flawlessly out of the box and helped dramatically in illustrating flow charts and brainstorming as part of Zoom meetings for both work, and personal note-taking.

It is a very versatile pen with tips that seem to last forever (plus it comes with extra!) Not perfect with pressure support but it's easy enough to learn what gestures work best with it. I'm on my third one of these pens only because I keep losing it.

Don't Buy!
Literally just bought this pen last week and it arrived today. I was so excited because full-time college student loves my laptop that is a 2-in-1. However, my pen came with no serial number so I can't even add this to my registered devices. And to make matters worse I get no instructions on how to pair my pen to my laptop. How are they allowed to sell stuff but not provide all the details for the items.

This pen is a lifesaver! I am a teacher doing hyflex teaching and tutoring remotely and this pen is the perfect component to making neat, digital notes. I love that it has palm rejection. The only downsides are that as a left-hander, its a little awkward to touch the buttons. Also, the USB holder is awkward because on the Flex 5 14 inch, the only USB ports are on the right side of the computer and when the pen is being stored, it blocks the power button. It's not inconvenient enough for me to lower the rating, just a little awkward!
I'm also currently a grad student, and this pen has made digital learning way more convenient. I export my weekly reading into OneNote, and use my pen to highlight and annotate. It was definitely worth the money!

Searched the website for a pen compatible with Lenovo Flex 5, and this was the first option. As best as I can tell, it isn't actually compatible at all, but figuring this out was a chore because it is no-longer supported by Lenovo. A sticker on the box directs you to a website which isn't even owned by Lenovo anymore; I assume that's where the drivers to run it used to be, but now if you want them you have to get them elsewhere. This option should be discontinued if they're not going to support it; I don't even know how to tell if the thing is turned on or not, and it certainly can't write or draw as-is.

Great overall. Some problems on OneNote
I purchased a Lenovo Flex 5 to use for graduate school. I realized to make the most of taking notes, I needed a stylus. The soft tips didn't give me the fine detail I needed. I purchased a 3rd party hard-point pen, but that didn't respond well and would disconnect when drawing lines so that my solid lines looked like dotted lines. So I went straight to the source and purchased this Lenovo Active Pen to go with my Lenovo Flex 5. It works perfectly on Paint, but and works much better on OneNote, but I am still facing problems with it disconnecting, or not fully responding to my writing, so that I have to rewrite some things, which is a pain when you're trying to write as fast as the instructor is speaking. So not sure if this is a problem with OneNote or with the pen. However, this pen does respond much better than the other pens I've tried.

Included Battery Died in 2 Hours
I was told by support this is the only pen compatible with my Yoga 9, so I got it. The garaged pen of the Yoga lasts about an hour or two (only charges in 1 minute, but it is very hard on the hand joints to hold if you use it a lot. I do art, so I use it a lot.
I was looking forward to this pen only for it to die in less than 2 hours out of the box.
I contacted support and was transferred to the correct line and on hold for over an hour! I contacted chat support and they could not help me either, to call support. I told them I was STILL on hold for an hour so I could not do that.
I bought new batteries and have yet to try it because it was such an unpleasant experience, but hopefully it goes better.

The look and feel of this pen is okay. Paring was not as easy as I had expected.
Wish there was a magnetic clip, or pen storage slot with the PC for convenience.
Pen documentation could be improved. The illustration of the top end (by the pen's side clip) looks like it could "click" like a ball point pen does, but mine does not.
A listing of software that could make use of the pen might be something Lenovo should consider. There is no easy test program to ensure the pen is working properly.
Bought the pen because it looked like an interesting addition for the 2-in-1 mode of my new IdeaPad.

Bought it for my girlfriend, didnt think she'd use it that much, however, whenever shes taking notes for school, she prefers it to typing or paper, she can circle on powerpoints, it tracks her writing great, she can paint, it has the two hotkeys. Love it!

This is a great (fun) tool. I’m just now trying to discover its various uses. I did change my online signature to where it “looks real”! Have used it in place of my mouse/touchscreen when not running up to par. I’m hoping to use it to draw out some items I would like to print off. It is easy to use with my Lenovo computer. This is the Active Pen you've been looking for!
This Active Pen works really well. Its being used with a Lenovo IdeaPad Flex 5 (16IAU7). For being on sale during the holidays its was very affordable at around $20. I was worried about the performance but its been great.
My daughter loves using it with drawing programs. My wife enjoyes using this over her finger. Overall a good peripheral if you have a Touchscreen laptop.

It's okay. I don't know if it's the pen itself or the way I'm holding it/not pressing hard enough, but it skips and not draw the whole thing. For example, I'm taking notes writing with the pen (let's say the letter A) sometimes it skips and just dots show up cuz it couldn't draw the continuous line. I wish there was a grip/sleeve for this pen because the smooth surface is a bit hard to hold. I also don't quite like the two buttons where my fingers grip because I keep pressing on them. Tried spinning the pen so the button is on the other side but because there's no grip, it just kind of rolls back and I have to keep readjusting.

This pen was great until it wasn’t. The pen started to act weird and my writing would jump across the page suddenly or wouldn’t show up at all. I replaced the tip thinking the one I was using was worn out. The problems kept happening. The end with the battery kept being loose and once it came out it would not screw back in and the metal was stripping. After this the whole pen fell to pieces. It’s impossible to find this under warranty or contact anyone about this so I’m going to be forced to buy another because I need to continue my schoolwork I had to pause after the pen broke.

My wife wanted a small laptop with a pen and this Active Pen works very well paired with the Yoga 6 13"...she is very happy with it so I'm happy. Lenovo makes good products, The Yoga 6 and pen are my 3rd Lenovo laptop purchase.

Was a simple plug 'n play device. Didn't need to do any particular extra setup for it to work immediately with my Lenovo Flex 14. Feels a bit fragile but isn't exactly meant to be heavy duty. Am happy to have got this for the discounted price ($25).

For the price it's decent. The 2 drawbacks I see is the quadruple A battery. Yes, it's an AAAA battery. I've never seen them before but here it is. The pencil ergonomically is okay. It feels kind of cheap but then again I didn't spend much for it.

Ridiculously easy set up. Put in the battery, and it works! I didn't have to do anything to pair, set settings, etc. Design is a bit outdated, but you can get it at a fantastic price.

metal pen casing cracked soon after purchase
I purchased the Lenovo Active Pen to replace the Wacom that I originally had but lost. I liked the circumference of the Active Pen and the pressure sensitivity. I did not get to use it very long because the metal casing at the top (necessary to keep batteries & activate the pen) cracked and made it unusable.

Worth the purchase
If you use the thinkpad like a tablet, especially to write notes, this is definitely worth it. I used to use simple rubber styluses but they would break. This definitely enhanced my experience. I wish the material was slightly less slippery to hold the pen, but otherwise no complaints.

Overall, the pen works really well, and setup is virtually non-existent. I will say that the barrel buttons are prone to being pressed while writing, so I have had to disable the lower one (pressed accidentally most often) which really defeats the point of having shortcut buttons on the pen.
Besides that, the tip tracking is excellent, and I have had no issues with immediate pairing as soon as the pen is needed.
