Raving from
First Lenovo - won't be my last
This is my first Lenovo, and I gotta say, it's been great for the week and a half that I've had it.
Things I love:
* Slim design
* Matte screen
* A *real* RJ-45 Ethernet jack
* USB-C charging
* Fingerprint reader
* NO bloatware
Things I don't like:
* Not equipped with built-in smartcard reader
(I didn't want to wait the extra 2-3 weeks for a custom order one..)
I have to add: This is the first business-class computer that I've ever bought for myself.. But Lenovo so far has impressed.

ThinkPad Aficionado from
ThinkPad L15: Great for Average Users
I'm a ThinkPad aficionado. I wanted to downsize from my hefty P71, so I opted for the new L15 given the high reviews. I have the 16GB ram, 512GB SSD, 1080p 250 nits brightness FHD display model.
The look and feel of this model is very classy, this is a laptop great for business users, personal use, students, etc. Clean, no frills design, sturdy, and the lid doesn't have the smudge-prone black carbon coating that other models have.
The processor is fast, and the Microsoft Precision trackpad is excellent. The fingerprint scanner on this model works every time. I had trouble with the fingerprint scanners on the P71 and P51 I used to own, so when I started using the L15's fingerprint scanner, I noticed a huge difference.
The L15's cooling system works flawlessly. There was only one time the laptop ran really hot and that was when I was downloading a 45 minute zoom recording. Besides that, this machine stays cool, unlike the P71 and 51 I had once owned.
The L15's processing power is plenty for users working in Microsoft Office, Zoom, web browsing, and other applications. If you are doing anything like CAD, a lot of video editing, or heavy gaming, you will want to go with the ThinkPad P series. Most PC users will find that the L15's processing power is sufficient and fast. For my own usage, the L15 is pleasantly fast with no lag. For a ThinkPad in this price range, the L15 is a good value.
The display is one area that needs improvement. The 250-nit 1080p display is dim and the colors are washed out a bit. However, using Intel's Graphics Command Center, I was able to calibrate the display to look a little more vibrant with color. I came from a 4K UHD display on my P71 and P51 so this took an adjustment. However, what I do love about the display is that it does not eat up a lot of energy, nor does it ever get hot. 4K UHD displays, while wonderful visually, burn up a lot of energy and they often get warm. 1080p displays are far more energy efficient, which keeps the L15 more energy friendly.
The keyboard is Lenovo's usual excellent ThinkPad keyboard with great travel, good tactile feel, great actuation, etc. It's a dream to type on, as is true for virtually any ThinkPad. The number pad is a great feature to have, so if you work a lot in Excel, Access, etc. you will love the keyboard.
Battery life is excellent, and the rapid charger is great. I do like that the charging brick doesn't heat up much while charging. The L15's power management and cooling systems are a dream compared to the hot potato I had with the P71. I get better battery life on the L15 than I have on either of my previous ThinkPads. For a machine that has L15's specs, the battery life is satisfying.
The chassis is a hard plastic all the way around, with minimal flex in certain areas, making the L15 a solid choice for people who want a durable machine for home or on the go.
I also appreciate that the RAM is not soldered on, which unfortunately, Lenovo is doing with most of their ThinkPads nowadays. Soldered RAM is not upgradeable, so the L15 is a good choice if you want to upgrade your RAM later on.
The audio for the ThinkPad isn't quite as loud as I would like it to be, but, when I am in a quiet room, it's fine. The speakers are under the laptop, which can muffle the sound a little. But, unless you consume a lot of video content, the speakers are ok for listening to music, or for Zoom and Microsoft Teams.
For a 15.6 inch laptop, the L15 is light, yet solid. Over all, I find that the L15 is a solid choice for most PC users who want a ThinkPad that is no nonsense, and that just works like it should. I recommend this laptop.
