Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect machine, AMD is worth the slow delivery The T14 AMD must be one of the most performance-value-for-money buys out there. The machine performs excellent in every aspect, except the resolution of the display, but hey, that's what you pay for. But waiting 8 weeks after placing the order to have it delivered was a long wait. Just be aware of that, since the demand for the AMD Ryzen Pro 4750U is so high these days.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent portable business laptop Solid, well built laptop, for everyday business needs. The keyboard feels good and the touchpad is responsive while using extended hours. The hinges are sturdy and they hold the display at whatever angle I needed. The ports are all great and feel solid; nothing is loose in them.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good laptop, terrible webcam Bought this to replace my old T460. Generally lives up to expectations, but the webcam is horrible. Looks like it has vaseline smeared over it. Not a sharp image, and far worse than my 5 year old laptop that I'm replacing. Very disappointed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Doesn't compare to prior Thinkpads We've been using Thinkpads for two decads: T61, T420, T430, T450, T460. We skipped to the T14 10th Gen Intel and it was a complete disaster. It produced so much heat we were overrun with complaints and had to ship them all back. We replaced the Intel with the AMD Ryzen 5 T14. These have been OK except a few major issues: (1) Trackpad accuracy is terrible. It's almost unusable. Jerky and inaccurate even with latest drivers. We've never experienced such a think. (2) Sharp edges (same issue with T490) are uncomfortable on user's wrist while typing. (3) Runs a bit warm (AMD is tolerable, Intel was NOT tolerable and was painful experience). (4) Battery life is just "OK". Since can't swap battery (internal now) this is a bummer. (5) Several users physical mouse buttons for the TrackPoint have stopped working. They work FINE in Linux and the BIOS but do NOT work in Windows. We've never ever ever had issues like this with any prior Thinkpads. Unfortunately, we're starting to wonder if, after 20 yeras, we need to look at other brands. We used to LOVE these machines. Would not recommend the T14 Gen 1 at all. We may be returning several we just bought due to complaints.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent machine with a few frustrating quirks The Lenovo T14 is a solid machine. After initially being disappointed by a few near-dealbreaker issues, I eventually found workarounds and today I completed the migration from my old laptop. I think I’m going to be happy long-term but be aware of these issues to make sure they won’t be a problem for you. First I should say I’m a Lenovo newcomer. I just replaced an old stalwart business laptop produced by a competitor brand – a big step for me since I’ve used that brand for the past 12 years. I would have stayed with them but they do not currently offer business laptops with the Ryzen processors and heat/throttling has become a big issue on newer Intel ultrabooks. I configured my T14 with the Ryzen 4650U and the 400-nit non-touch screen. I was pleasantly surprised upon arrival. It has excellent build quality, the typical Lenovo keyboard, and even a decent touchpad (at least initially, see below). I was concerned that lack of standalone touchpad buttons would be problematic, but I got used to it and it feels pretty precise. The performance is excellent. I opted for six-cores processor because based on benchmark scores, it was expected to be a 4-5x boost from my previous i7-7600U. I favor extra battery life and less heat compared to the marginal speed gains of the eight-core 4750U, and I think I am happy with my decision. The laptop boots quickly and loads applications without much lag. Benchmarks perform well, just make sure to install a second RAM DIMM to achieve dual-channel performance which will increase your graphics FPS benchmarks by about 60-80%. Also, it runs silently for most regular work, and even when the fan does turn on, it’s very quiet. Now for the downsides - I was frustrated almost to the point of returning the unit after I ran into these snags up front: 1) the touchpad two-finger scroll is awful. Right out of the box, long pages like Google News take 5-6 swipes to reach the bottom of the page. On my previous laptop, it would take 1-2. The problem stems from the fact that Lenovo/Synaptics no longer provide feature-rich drivers that allow for fine-tuning the touchpad and instead rely on the Windows Precision Touchpad drivers. These “modern” drivers are decent in theory except for the fact that there is no SCROLL SPEED CONTROL! This is a huge oversight, and like I said, I was about ready to return the unit. After about 5-10 hours of research and lots of trial and error, I learned that I can improve the scroll speed to an acceptable level using a registry hack. Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Wisp\Touch and set the Friction value closer to 1 and increase the inertia to 32 (50 in decimal), then restart. Low friction and higher inertia means each flick of your fingers will cause the page to hold its motion for a long time, effectively reducing the number of scrolls required. 2) the webcam is AWFUL. If you want to look 15 years older, be sure to use this web cam. It mutes colors very strongly so your nice dark hair will look gray. The image also appears extremely blurry. Again, Lenovo fails to include software with any kind of image adjustment other than the basic brightness/contrast/gain settings in the Lenovo Vantage app. Given I spent $1250 for this machine, I was expecting a half-decent web cam, but they throw in a cheap $10 component. I would have gladly paid an extra $30 to know the camera was good. In the end, I did find a workaround that improved the image to a barely acceptable quality. First, I loaded Skype and went to Audio/Video settings. There, I opened Advanced Camera settings and fine-tuned the sharpness and white balance. Thankfully these tweaks appear to persist in other apps. 3) The S0 sleep state that Lenovo defaults to (AKA Windows 10 Modern Standby) is poorly executed. It uses more power and drains the battery quickly compared to S3. Also, when I have the laptop attached to a dock and I close the lid, I expect the mouse/keyboard to turn off and go to sleep. Instead, they remain active and alert for any user input – if I accidentally bump my desk, the mouse moves and wakes the computer. Once again, I had to spend several hours researching how to resolve this, not something I want to do after dropping $1k+ on a computer. The fix was to go into the BIOS and set the standby mode to “Linux” (which equates to the S3 legacy standby mode). This might cause some funny issues with external monitors, so use at your own risk. It seems OK for me with the Lenovo USB-C Gen2 dock. So here I am, a couple of weeks into the purchase of the laptop. I finally have it configured roughly to my liking, but it was a steep learning curve and I’m still not satisfied with some of the auxiliary components like the web cam. However, my primary concern was to obtain an upgraded workhorse computer which will get me through another 3-4 years of data analytics consulting without a hitch. I am feeling confident this machine will do the trick.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent system without documentation The T14 AMD is a solidly designed, and constructed. I bought this over the T14 [Intel] for CPU speed. The documentation does not exist. I thought I was missing the RJ45 port. I discovered with poking around the in the BIOS, you have to navigate to USB to turn on the RJ45 port. But that alone did not work. It turns out you also have to separately select one of two MAC addresses. It turns out the unit has two RJ45 adapters. The marketing material did not list the micro SD port as standard as I included the option of the SD card reader in the purchase.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great computer, no smart card reader Can’t add smart card reader. FML I would give this laptop 5 stars, because it’s fast, quiet, efficient, and powerful, but I can’t. It’s lightweight and the battery life is fantastic, but it’s still just 4 stars. The backlit keyboard and classic Lenovo typing feel are top notch. Ports are adequate and usable. It came packaged well. All of this adds up to 4 stars because you can’t buy it with a friggin smart card reader. It even says “optional” on the item description, but then you find out that you have to “Customize” a machine to get it. Which I did, until I seen that it would ship to me in February 2021 (I ordered it in November). No thanks. I’ll figure something else out.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Disappointed in batter and screen This has been a pretty good laptop so far. My only dislikes are the battery and the screen. The battery only lasts about 5 - 6 hours with general use and I was expecting a little more. The screen has some light bleeding around the edges when looking at it on an angle and I'm not sure if that is normal or not. It's not noticeable when viewing it straight on. Overall, it's been a pretty good laptop the past few weeks since I've owned it. I've run Manjaro on it with mostly a smooth experiences and only a few minor hiccups.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing Laptop for its Price Even though the laptop is built for business usage, I like how durable and the ability to not only perform my every day school work but also the being able to play a few games. The laptop does not run very hot and is very lightweight which makes me love this laptop even more.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very good performance, but some small minuses The performance is *excellent*, especially when coupled with Ubuntu over WSL2. The keyboard is excellent; so far, no major problems at all. Only two issues: (a) the low consumption display is rather dim, and the fan kicks in even for minor things such as text editing and the noise is quite annoying for me, especially in a quiet room.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great value AMD machine, mediocre display Great value, however, the screen quality is lacking. I would be happy to pay extra for a brighter IPS screen that won't take months to ship. Ideally there would be a 1440p option as well. The other complaint that I have is that this computer is a fingerprint magnet.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great mobile workstation I'm a college professor, and I wanted a powerful mobile workstation that could handle large datasets and documents, but also had a great keyboard and screen, and I haven't been disappointed. I upgraded the RAM to 32 GB myself with no trouble. The way the fn and ctrl keys are swapped is annoying (I know I can switch it in BIOS but then it will just be confusing a different way, but that's really my only complaint.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great, but poor screen quality TL;DR: Great laptop, choose the 400 nits screen (or which ever is the next level above the 300 nits touchscreen). This laptop is great. I have not had it for very long, but it certainly has a durable feel. It is fast and can run games (albeit at lower quality). The biggest issue is the screen: I chose the 300 nits touchscreen. The brightness is still only ok given that it is 300 nits. The biggest problem is the color gamut though, at only 45% it looks pretty bad. I had not looked closer at this spec before purchasing. Looking back, I would have paid a little more for the brighter low-power screen for the better color, even if it does not come with the touchscreen capability.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A great product I customized my laptop by selecting the 400-nit screen, and TBH, it's a great decision. The product runs smoothly and performs great. I also added another 8G memory. It's an easy operation and strengthens the laptop performance significantly. The only thing I'm not fully satisfied is the material of D cover. I prefer a metal one to a plastic one.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Not perfect, but really good Really powerful... Easily three-or-four times faster than any other computer I have ever owned. It's really thin. I'm sure the engineers worked many hours to get it so thin. I would have liked it to be a bit thicker and give me room to put my 2.5" SSD data drive in rather than having to carry it around in an external enclosure. The screen is beautiful, but a little smaller than my last "14-inch" laptop. The keyboard layout is different than I was used to so it's taking a little getting used to. I would have liked to see separate volume buttons rather than function buttons. Especially mute.

The AMD Ryzen processor is truly outstanding, the keyboard feels amazing, and even though the screen isn't as bright as I was hoping for, I typically only use it indoors so that's not a big deal!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Powerful Work Laptop Summary: Great laptop, fast CPU, solid build quality, good screen, OK speakers, I recommend installing your own RAM and SSD I recently bought this laptop for work as I need a powerful CPU for engineering applications. The Ryzen 4000 series performs exceptionally and I expect this laptop to run well for several years to come. Performance: CPU: I got the Ryzen 7 Pro 4750U version and it is very fast, with 8 cores and 16 threads, multi-threaded workloads are exceptionally fast for a small laptop. The cooling is good, though the laptop can feel warm to the touch under heavy loads, this is to be expected, however if you are concerned about this, I recommend the Ryzen 5 Pro version as the performance should still be good but it will run cooler. GPU: The integrated Ryzen graphics are decent as iGPUs go but don't rely on it for graphically intense work or gaming. Screen: I got the low-power 400 nit 60 Hz screen which works very well, it has good viewing angles, nice colour accuracy and appears to have AMD Freesync. I wouldn't recommend going for a lower brightness if you plan to use the laptop in outdoor or brightly lit settings as this 400 nit screen is just bright enough to work well in those conditions. Keyboard: I got the backlit US keyboard which types very well. The key travel is very good and the keyboard provides a satisfying typing experience, one of the best laptop keyboards I've seen. The backlighting is decent, the white light does not show through the letters very strongly, and it'll only really be visible in low-light settings but it does allow use in the dark. The only issue I have with the keyboard is the lack of a numpad, this is due to the 14 inch size but it does allow a full-size layout of the other keys and gives them proper spacing. I used my rewards credit to buy a USB numpad that I keep to the right of my laptop. Trackpad: The trackpad feels very nice to use, it glides well and has a fairly silent click, it seems to be accurate and I have had no issues with it so far. As a ThinkPad, this also includes the trackpoint control, a small rubber ball used as a substitute for a mouse for situations where something like a glove prohibits use of the trackpad. The physical buttons for the trackpad are placed above it, to allow you to use them for with the trackpoint, this is less convenient for the trackpad usage but the trackpad itself is clickable and works well, differentiating left and right clicks. Build Quality: The T-Series ThinkPads are built to be more durable and this seems to be reflected throughout the laptop. Although it has no premium feeling metals used, the soft touch plastic that is used all around the body feels very premium and durable as well as being lighter than metals. It does not feel like a cheap, plastic laptop. The main body will not flex, and the screen flexes only slightly as it is thin. The hinge opens to 180 degrees to sit flat, this may be able to provide more longevity as the hinge will not be strained past its operating point during normal use. The two hinge points are both close to the edge of the body and so the screen does not torque in uncomfortable ways. The keyboard is spill-proof with a draining mechanism under the laptop, so if you spill something on it, be aware of liquid coming out of the bottom. The laptop is light, and the small size allows you to carry it easily. The power brick is also small and light. Ports: For a small laptop, the selection of ports is good, there are 2 USB A ports one on each side, there are 2 USB C ports, one of which is used to charge the device via the 65W charger. The other USB C port is part of Lenovo's port where you can connect a dock to extend your port selection. There is an ethernet port on the right side, an HDMI port, a headphone jack and a microSD card reader on the left. Speakers: The device has a large grill for its front-firing speaker, which sounds somewhat disappointing for listening to music but performs well enough for most tasks. Internals: Sadly, you have to choose a certain amount of RAM to be soldered onto the device at purchase, with Lenovo charging a large premium for more and also charging a lot for extra RAM they add in on top of that. They charge a similarly high premium for the SSD, with large storage becoming very expensive. 8GB of RAM will be enough for most tasks currently, however, in years to come it will become slow, there is at least one SODIMM slot left open for the user to upgrade in the future, so if you want to save on the upfront cost right now you can buy an 8GB model and upgrade later if necessary. For the SSD, I would recommend buying the lowest size option and then installing a larger, faster SSD for much cheaper than Lenovo will sell it to you. To remove the cover, first take out the SIM card tray if you have one and then there are 6 Philips head screws that remain in the cover so they do not get lost. You then have to pry the case apart by sliding something into the gap, then you can access the internals. Battery: The battery has a reasonably large capacity and it performs well. With the low power screen, running the laptop without the charger, you can comfortably achieve most tasks without plugging back in. The USB C charging port allows great flexibility, when not charging, you can use it as an extra port and the charger can be used for many other devices. For example, if you have a recent Android phone, the laptop’s USB charger can be used to charge your phone and your phone charger will be able to charge your laptop, although slower than the 65W. This can allow you to use one charger for all your devices, your phone, laptop, headphones, mouse, Nintendo Switch etc… Features: ThinkPads offer a great range of features, you can get a fingerprint sensor that works fast, a windows hello IR camera, WWIN that allows you to access 4G on the road by inserting a SIM card and a smart card reader. The camera is a 720p camera that has a physical privacy cover, it works well and looks nice for a 720p camera. The flexibility of having 4G is great, allowing you to use the laptop on the road, with the other features providing everything you need in a laptop.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Powerful & Durable Laptop w/ a great keyboard! IMO, the Thinkpad T14 AMD is currently the best laptop on the market for those people who want a durable, powerful laptop that'll last them a long time! It's powered by an insanely powerful AMD Ryzen 4000 series CPU, making it so fast that you likely won't have any complaints for years to come! It also has a user-upgradable NVME M.2 SSD slot and an additional RAM slot, for further future-proofing.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fast, Sleek, but ok touch Very fast laptop! Wonderful keyboard, great CPU, RAM options ok but with a RAM and hard drive upgrade things are flying. One major complaint (and docked star) is that the touch pad could use some work. It doesn't always register and clicking isn't very fluid compared to others. The Ryzen CPU is insane, the laptop's build quality is great, the keyboard is the best ever put on a laptop, and it was trivial to swap out the nvme with a 1 TB one that I bought. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Almost perfect laptop except the sleep issue I got the AMD 4750u, 16GB RAM, self upgraded to 1TB Evo Plus and 400 nits screen. It literally blew every Intel processors I have on Cinebench. Built quality is great and something I can take to a business meeting without hesitation. My only hiccup is the battery drain on sleep cycle, tried both modern sleep as well as S3 (linux sleep). About 13% drain over night which is not acceptable for a lot of folks out there. I was fine with hibernation just to save battery life since I am about 12-16 hours a day using this laptop. On hibernation, I started getting "config changed" error which ends up restarting the laptop. Considering my boot time is about 3 second, I am fine with just taking my chance on hibernation. My hope is Lenovo will fix this issue hopefully and I wont have anything to complain about. On what shines about this laptop ... is the keyboard and how fast my node.js runs. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent laptop, missing clear Ubuntu support The laptop itself is very compelling and satisfying, with very good keyboard and 400-nits wide color gamut display. I like the size I do wish for less monstrous cpu options like the AMD Ryzen 4450U instead of 4650U. Less heat, lower power consumption

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quality of LIfe Upgrade I had an E470 laptop for 3 years when we got an upgrade to these T14 units. There is a world of difference. No more waiting 5 minutes to boot or shut off. Nothing feels loose or cheap on this laptop. A big annoyance for me was on the E series my finger would drag across the touchpad while with this T it glides smoothly. Battery is also MUCH better. Recommended.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lenovo T14 AMD Although there was a wait for the AMD Ryzen 7 T14 I'm very happy with the purchase. High end 400 Nit display is brilliant. Going from an HD to the M.2 2280 SSD PCIe NVMe drive is amazing - Windows boots in seconds, not minutes. Thinkpad key board remains the best in laptops, and the AMD graphics is more than sufficient for all my needs. Very happy with my purchase.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent configurable laptop. Great Keyboard. Excellent laptop overall. It is not as slim as many others in the Thinkpad line. But I like the fact that is is highly user upgradable. However, it is not bulky. As an academician who types a lot, I like the feel of the keyboard. The privacy mode is also helpful when I am traveling.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from T14 and AMD Ryzen 5 Pro: A Perfect Combination We purchased a ThinkPad T14, model number 20UD0006US, during an incredible Lenovo promotion. This is the first new laptop our family has purchased in 8 years, and we were pleased and amazed at how far they've come. Our new T14 is so light and powerful! Plus, the AMD Ryzen 5 Pro is far better than the new Intel laptops we use at work. One of the first things we did was add a 8GB stick of Samsung M471A1G44AB0-CWE memory to the empty slot so to take advantage of the dual channel speeds and extend the life and usefulness of our laptop's future. We ordered this direct from Lenovo, and their customer service was outstanding! They helped guide us to the 20UD0006US, which was in stock and shipped the same day!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Laptop I love this Laptop. I decided to go with this over the slimmer Models because I work in IT and use my Ethernet jack to configure equipment on a regular basis. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Reliable and Speedy The laptop is incredibly speedy and reliable, however the panel my T14 ended up getting was one with a lot of ghosting, which can sometimes be disorienting, but is something I've gotten used to by now. Upgrading the RAM and SSD can also prove to be rather hard due to the plastic tabs, the front lip ended up with a slight gap, so I hope new iterations will fix this flaw.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Laptop No complaints here. The fingerprint sensor isn’t recognized every time but that’s probably more of a software problem in Windows at boot up. Super light and long battery life, it’s perfect for day to day.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exactly what you'd expect but with two surprises. This keeps in line with the strong ThinkPad tradition that I've been enjoying for 15 years. They say that the battery life isn't as good on the AMD version, and that may be true, but unplugged and under a moderate load it drains almost as slowly as it does with the lid closed unplugged. I would rather have a battery that can work well unplugged than last watching movies unplugged, and this will put in work. I have the 250 nit screen and for indoor use it's plenty. Things I actually enjoy about it are the very even distribution of light and no backlight bleeding.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from If you are ok with the sacrifices, go for it! The t14 delivers excellent performance for the price(800€) even with the ryzen 5 in it. People say that the baseline 250nits screen is too dim, and yes for outdoors it may be the case but I have pretty sensitive eyes and for my everyday work i'm using about 60-70% of the screen brightness, so it is far from "unusable" as people say. The battery seems ok to me. The typing is very good and satisfying although some keys do weird sounds sometimes. The most negative thing is the build quality for me, you can wabble the chassis when the laptop is opened and same thing with the screen. When closed it is much more resistant so transporting it won't be a problem at all. In conclusion: an amazing thinkpad experience but some cuts were made to achieve this price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love the feel and performance The 14" form factor is preferred as I don't need a numpad on my laptop. The laptop body is firm/rigid, but not too heavy. I love ThinkPad keyboards I've used in the past and this one is great as well. The performance of the laptop is great and the battery life is pretty good. I like the fact that this model can be upgraded in the future vs many of the models with soldered storage and memory.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great business-grade laptop. Great machine. Boots extremely fast. Never knew how much I'd like fingerprint sign-in on a laptop. I use the machine hours and daily, mainly for work. My previous Lenovo business laptop still going strong without a hiccup. I needed a extra laptop for home office. I tend to overspec for my uses - I have found the business grade Lenovo laptops to be incredibly durable (for office use) and last a much longer time than my colleagues' computers.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very good, even with linux Fantastic build quality and materials, the keyboard is a joy to type on. The webcam is above the average quality. The 400 nits display it's nice, but is has a little bit of gosting, so it is not the best for games, if you want to play. It doesn't get hot when on battery, only a little when charging. The fan is very quiet, and most of the times is off. The battery life is not bad. I use linux so: the led for the microphone is always on, the laptop works well with kernel more recent than the 5.8, I use 5.10 and it works well enough.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Almost perfect workhorse laptop! Before I ordered this laptop, I had already read some reviews and this laptop is rated highly. It did not disappoint! The laptop runs smooth and responses is snappy It is also very quite and does not get hot while using. The drivers of this laptop seems to be pretty stable, no blue screens or dropped wifi signals and the battery life lasts a long time. Even though the laptop is almost prefect, it still has some letdowns to me. First the LCD screen color seems washed out at times, it is not vibrant but bearable (I got the 300nit touchscreen option). Second, the fit and finish is good overall except sharp edges along the front where the palm rest cover meets the bottom cover. The palm rest edges and especially the corners sticks out and the seam is not even among them. It just feels cheap to me that a T series has this manufacturing (parts mold) flaw. Those flaws aside, I still like it for the snappy performance, robust built and great keyboard.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Bad service, bad quality control. I like the laptop but I have had two fatal product defects (the first upon delivery, and the second within the first month after receiving a replacement from the first defect) with the machine that should have been caught prior to delivery (quality control issues), and severe and nearly constant problems with Lenovo customer/sales service throughout the purchase process.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fast Computer That Needs Refinement Positive: The computer works well and is very quick with a few exceptions. Its very light thus making it easy for transport. The finger sensor is also a nice touch that I really enjoy using to quickly login. Cons: The shipping on this item was horrendous. We ordered it in October and after Lenovo attempted twice to cancel the order by telling us the shipping wasn't going to happen in a timely fashion, we finally received the laptop in January. For some reason after the first two weeks, there is now significant lag time when the computer boots up which is surprising for a custom computer with the specs we put in it. The computer seems to have a problem running multiple programs and requires me to use task manager to force close apps that are "not responding". The icons on the desktop don't always respond when you click on them initially. Neither pro nor con: The screen is very small. Some will like that and some will not. Overall - Its a nice, compact, computer with good processing power. For the most part, I am able to use it for my daily activities for my non-profits, and for-profit companies. For the issues that I am having with it and the price for this computer with the specs I put it in, I was hoping for a bit more refinement and not issues that I would expect to have with lower grade models and brands, hence the three stars.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from frustration galore I'm on my fourth ThinkPad, a T14, and sadly this one is the worst. It worked fine for about a month but now is having numerous, repeated software problems. They began when the Lenovo software broke down and wouldn't open. I deleted the programs and tried to reinstall but the downloads wouldn't work. I received the same error message that appeared when the programs wouldn't open and another about a missing .dll file. I've had to reinstall the Windows 11 system three times and couldn't get stability until I used the recovery drive that I set up upon receiving the unit. Problems still exist. Now the Favorites folder in Edge keeps disappearing. I fully expect the system to go kablooey again. This is not what I expect from ThinkPads. I wish that I had saved my money on this one....

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The T14's AMD® Ryzen™ 5 Pro is a BEAST! Even though the new T14 Gen 1 is just the next evolutionary step of the tried-and-trued T490, when ordered with the AMD® Ryzen™ 5 Pro 4650U Processor and a FHD 1920x1080 IPS anti-glare screen it becomes the 14" powerhouse of today! Solid, lightweight, and with great battery life, the T14 AMD is extremely useful for all home and business needs. We ordered ours with the standard 8GB of soldered memory, and by adding an additional 8GB stick of Samsung M471A1G44AB0-CWE DDR4 3200MHz PC4-25600 SODIMM memory we nearly DOUBLED the system performance! Both processing and video! We've found that Lenovo's build quality and durability exceeds the standards of Dell, HP and Acer, while still being both traditional and innovative. We expect this T14 to be around for many years of service. Anyone want to ask us about Lenovo/Motorola phones? ;-)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sturdy laptop Bought this laptop for work purposes after years of using various brands (Dell, Asus and MSI) with more or less success in terms of durability. Sturdy and lightweight little laptop, which does not fail to deliver. Display is great, speed is good and the keyboard is a huge upgrade to what I have been used to. That last point is what made me pull the trigger on this utilitarian unit. The Thinkpad range is known for that specific feature and it makes a positive difference in my work output.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Thinkpad laptop Its a nice light weight laptop suitable. I use mostly for work. Charges fast and stays long hours. Good for working while travelling as well. The only reason i am hiving a 4 star is because one day it kicked me out from wifi and then the driver was gone by itself. Tried network reset and restarting few times but wifi was not there as an option for connection at all. Later on gave up and next day it was fixed by itself. I don’t know what that happened but it seems very unusual thing to happen to anyone. But overall i like it. Electronic will have some issues sometimes. Thats inevitable.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Attractive design and good performance. Ordered this ThinkPad T14 Gen1 due to its attractive door buster discount. First time to try AMD processor instead of Intel on laptop, and I have not noticed difference in performance so far. I really like the soft touch of its keyboard. The border on screen is thicker than expected, but resolution is not bad. In sleep mode, the blinking red dot on the "i" of logo on the cover is interesting and rather creative. The fan is really quiet. My only complaint is the spacing between the keys. It seems little tighter than usual. Using it for both business and personal purpose and I really like this laptop so far.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from One Serious Flaw An otherwise fine machine, ruined by WiFi connection failure and poor setup instructions. I was able to finally get the machine working, after several hours of trying, by buying an external USB WiFi dongle and installing it. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing laptop! I originally purchased an X1 Carbon but it was delayed and I needed a laptop in a hurry. I've had multiple T series models in the past but wanted the X1 only for the 16:10 aspect ratio. I know the next generation T series will have that but, unfortunately, I needed a new laptop pronto. Overall, this new T14 is absolutely what you would expect. No thrills but a sleek and professional looking performer. Compared to my T430s, this thing is super slim and light. Honestly, I don't feel any need for an X1 and prefer the 1.8mm key travel and serviceability of the standard T series (keyboards, memory, etc). The machine with the Ryzen processor is an absolute screamer compared to my older generation ThinkCentre and the T430s i7. I got the 250 nit display and it's fine for indoor use (not even turned up all the way). My guess is that it wouldn't be adequate in the sun but I'm not sure how many people use their computers outside. I am planning to get a 16:10 T series in the future and you can be sure that it'll be a standard T14!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 5 Stars For me - Lenovo rates a 5 star for the product I purchased, ThinkPad T14, AND their customer service. There was a fan issue with the first computer sent, perhaps mishandled by delivery services since I have another Lenovo laptop for work and I know how hearty and well-built they are, anyway, I contacted customer service, talked to a human the first try, they sent me a replacement, no hassle. Excellent product and customer service, which is all that any customer wants:)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent First Impressions Laptop is exactly as described when I received it. Typing on the keyboard is a smooth experience. Love the addition of the backlight feature. Very responsive hardware and software. Connects to my other external devices such as Bluetooth devices and Wi-Fi without any issues. Initial software setup to Windows 10 Pro went very smoothly. Was given the option to upgrade to Windows 11 Pro and the upgrade also went without a hitch. Laptop appears to be responding very well to the upgraded OS without any driver issues. Laptop appears to be very sturdy and well made. Very smooth opening and closing of the laptop monitor lid. Also like that fact that it comes with a camera privacy slider to cover the camera. Overall, my I'm quite pleased with my initial impression on the laptop.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from New standard in thin & light business laptops Incredibly powerful, amazingly light for that much power. The 4750u for a 15-watt CPU is simply amazing, easily beating out 45-watt mobile processors of yore. Yet because it IS a 15-watt CPU, it's not in some heavy, thick, ugly body. It's still a fairly small and lightweight body that simply has taken a huge leap in computing power. With the 400-nit LCD the screen is extremely pleasant to use, no isuses with the WIFI-6 or Bluetooth 5. The keyboard, like most Thinkpads is a delight to type on. The touchpad is the only real failing on this model. While it works FANTASTIC most of the time, occassionally it suddenly decides that you need to use 10x the force as normal to tap, which is annoying, but rare enough as to not be a deal-breaker.

The keyboard is phenomenal, the screen has great color and the brightness is just right. It's light, but still feels sturdy. I opted for the Ryzen 7 with 16gb of ram and have been very impressed with it. This is replacing a computer I built about 5 years ago and it has outpaced it in every sense so far. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Thinkpad T14, Ryzen Pro 7 with 16GB RAM and 120GB The laptop is a perfect balance of performance, size, weight, and battery life. Ordered with 16GBs of soldered RAM and a 120GB SSD and upgraded to 32 GB of RAM and a 1T SSD. The only downside is the Privacy Guard screen - it does work as advertised but even when turned off, the viewing angles and brightness are compromised. Unless you really need it, I would advise against that option.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very fast Thinkpad running Linux. The T-14 feels like a business computer. Perfect keyboard, with a trackpoint which is one of the major features of any ThinkPad. Being able to turn off the TouchPad which for does not have any use. Excellent screen and very responsive. One of the best fingerprint that I have used. Very fast. The installation of linux (OpenSuSE) was very easy and all is working OK with the new kernels. The one i got has the Privacy Guard which I have not tested yet. I do not travel as much any more so I could have choose the the other display, but this is great anyhow.

The 400 nit low power screen ghosts a tiny amount, but color and brightness is great. Overall much better than most of screens offered with Ryzen by other manufacturers. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Techie says, it's a beast Pros: Top notch build, like many thinkpads before it, HQ, rubberized-plastic material, that leaves little to no smudge. Not to mention, hinges are awesome for it's class. If not the best, one of the best keyboards - tactile and high grade utility (feels so good to type on. Average back-lit tech, helps in darker rooms or night. Above average pad, with great functionality and features. Display has good visibility, high resolution (at 1080p), and good color reproduction. Battery life is good for it's size and utility, it isn't the best and most efficient, however, I still rate above average. I use it 1-2 hours/day, throughout the day and go without charging for most of the week. Works well for my use, and I think it would for majority of users interested in this class. Also, charges via USB-C! Cam shutter is the coolest "little" feature. Its manual and works PERFECTLY. Ryzen 5, highly recommended. Its a workhorse and has yet to slow up on me. Majority of sets I've had have been Intel, AMD has usually been my secondary choice, this could be my turning point. Lastly, PORTS! This is one of the few reasons I specifically bought this model at this size. 14", very compact, and great assortment of ports. Cons: Display brightness, unless you "pay to play", pay more, to get more, the base model gets approx. 300 nits. Works well for most conditions, so I give Lenovo the benefit of the doubt that most users will be just fine; but knowing phones nowadays get 500-1000 nits for comparably the same price, would've like to see 400-500 for the price I paid. Graphics/Gaming isnt very good, this is a nit-pick since it's not made for such, but I want to mention as some users don't always understand that a rig at this price point has a specific function, and gaming is not really it (unless you're planning on solitaire). Its a beast, pick it up

Rated 5 out of 5 by from You can't beat the value of this laptop The value of this laptop is unmatched. With the 4750 Pro CPU, there isn't an Intel chip in a laptop that can keep up, especially at the same price. The laptop is in a great body, however, it's a shame that Lenovo doesn't include better screens with the AMD laptops. The one thing that would make this laptop better would be a 4K display, or at least a 1440p display with better colors.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The True Meta of Business Class Laptops The ThinkPad T14 (14”), AMD laptop is the most durable and snappy laptop yet. The Ryzen 5 PRO 4650U with Radeon Graphics is incredible for productivity and light gaming like running Minecraft at 165 Hz at 1080p. Please note the Adrenaline Software from AMD for drivers is not installed default and it is suggested to use it for gaming and more customization. Overall, this product have unmatched security and is Windows 11 Ready for Microsoft with the latest CPU hardware generation, Secure Boot, and TPM 2.0. It runs PCIe Gen. 3 x 4 for full SSD speed unlike older models where it can only do PCIe Gen. 3 x 2. because of bandwidth limitations. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Simply Stunning 1- Price significantly outweighs value. 2- A 6-bit IPS panel. I didn't even know it was possible for an IPS panel to be such a piece of crap. 3- Contrast adjustment unavailable, sometimes contrast is decent, other times everything looks blown out. 4- Opening the case is unnecessarily tedious. I don't mind screws, but I hate prying. 5- No external/secondary battery option. 6- Decent battery life only exists with extreme tweaking and extensive use of hibernation. Sleep wastes far too much power. Hibernation is a poor tradeoff because it thrashes the write-cycles on the SSD which will lead to premature death. 7- The BIOS is a joke. 8- Why is the BIOS white? So you can blind me? 9- Booting with display at max brightness is annoying. 10- Screen brightness range is too limited, can't dim enough for use in the dark/at night. 11- One USB A per side 12- No USB-C on right side 13- Fingerprint Enrollment ALWAYS fails 14- Doesn't support Surface Pen 1+ Ethernet port 2+ Headphone jack 3+ Touchscreen w/multi-touch 4+ Keyboard is comfortable to type on

Rated 5 out of 5 by from One of the best laptops on the market Lenovo's thinkpad lineup has always been my go to for a quality laptop. This one specifically has been the upgrade I have been needing as a daily laptop.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good, solid thinkpad Didn't really get a chance to use it, but I think its a better option than the super slim one if you need a little more power or upgradable RAM

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Powerful Laptop, Came with Several Hardware Issues The Thinkpad T14 AMD Laptop performs as promised, and can handle pretty heavy computing tasks. Unfortunately, there are several hardware errors (unmute/mute button not working, rebooting immediately after shutting down windows, among other errors) that would ultimately lead me to not recommend purchasing this laptop. It is a shame because I like both AMD and Lenovo, but I would stick with an Intel Lenovo laptop for now.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sleek and fast I love my T14 AMD laptop. It is sleek, quiet and fast. The Dolby speakers on the top are a big improvement. I use it for light work and mainly to browse the web and stream movies. The shipping was very delayed due to COVID-19 disruptions but it was definitely worth the wait. I have no complaints with it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Yes, thank you! I customized my model of this base quite a bit: touch screen, soldered memory, ssd size, etc. I am happy with the build, the size, weight, construction of the laptop: I purchased this with the intent that I can use this for the next 5+ years (my last laptop is over 10 years old at this point). I am pleased with the performance I have at a medium-price range for all the options available. And I appreciate the capacity to make some upgrades down the line. The battery life is good. If I start a zoom class (I teach 2.5 hour art classes) on a fully charged battery, I end at about half capacity. For regular work, I seem to get between 4-6 hours in before needing to re-charge. I purchased this laptop in part from hearing about good ratings on the keyboard. I am pleased with the keyboard, the touch pad.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Laptop! Linux friendly(mostly. Loving my new laptop. Got Ubuntu up and running. BionicPup/FossaPup - I couldn't get screen resolutions to work with me so installed Lubuntu as backup OS. In Ubuntu, found playing videos in VLC works but I have to kill VLC from previous session to be able to play another video. Finding bugs, working out the kinks, making its' way to be christened "Spinfusor". DOB 2021.0312 2:30PM MST.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I regret buying this. I'll never buy lenovo again I buy expensive decked out laptop ever few years to keep up with my work and play load. I usually keep it around 1000, without a black friday sales price. This one was 1300 ON a black friday sales price. And this is the computer I most hate of all of them. I've never really had an issue regarding form factor before so imagine my surprise when several aspects made me hate them. But lets start with something mechanical. The web cam and mic will not function correctly for google hangouts. I can't do the most important yet most basic thing I need to do on a 1300 dollar laptop (and thats a black friday sale price) that I waited five weeks to get so I could have ryzen components. I'm using a 499 laptop from Staples to do my work. While the Chassis is thicker than that significantly less expensive laptop the plastic feels considerably cheap compared to other pricy laptops I've bought before. Like...why? But this is the reason I most hate it: it is the most cramped keyboard I have every used. And I have used a lot of keyboards, both cheap and expensive. It is so uncomfortable on my hands and wrists I can really only use it for more than a few minutes if I am reclined to almost a 160 degree position. I absolutely have to write and I find this making me avoid work. Sure the screen and colors are exceptionally clear but that does me no good if I find myself avoiding the computer. It and my other lenovo heat up badly on the underside of the carriage. It almost feels like they are trying to hard so make a quiet laptop they have forgotten why fans exist in the first place. Everyone said "You're gonna love the keyboard". I mean, its not terrible but it doesn't feel significantly better than the 499 lenovo laptop I'm using. The think pad has a little more key travel but the keys also feel like they are made from weirdly cheap plastic. Also, they are harder to type on if my nails are any longer than being flush with fingerpads, compared to the cheap laptop. And I don't grow out my nails on purpose or get them done. They're just regular nails. So I find this also contributing to me wanting to avoid using the laptop, which means avoiding work. Those are my major complaints and they are enough on their own to make me hate it and wish I hadn't set it aside to covid decontam policies so I could have returned it immediately. Now I'm super exhausted and don't know if I have the strength to return it or even if I'm in the return window. Plus that means I've lost out on the black friday window. I will never buy lenovo again. (They kept sending me emails apologizing for the wait time but I didn't care about the wait time. I knew that when I bought the computer. I signed up for a long wait time to get an excellent computer, not a disappointing piece of plastic ware. They are completely out of touch). Other things I don't like about it that are just lessons for me: 1. no back lit keyboard. I'd never had one before so I didn't think I cared. The cheaper one came with one and I realized with all the typing I do I can't live without one 2. no number pad to the right. Some people are fine with this. This just makes the keyboard more cramped for me and my typing less fast. I thought - better processing and ram and other mother board components are important enough to sacrifice on this. Not with this computer, they aren't. If there were a number pad maybe the keyboard woudn't be SO uncomfortably cramped. 3. The mouse situation. I specifically got mouse buttons for a reason. Its part of the reason I went with lenovo because manufactures have just decided not to give them to us on many laptops. The mouse pad is definitely better than the cheap laptop. I have fewer wrong left clicks when trying to right click and it feels like it will wear out less quickly. That might be though the cramped situation shifting my hand. Its definitely a better mouse pad than the 499 I have consigned myself to use (and not for lack of trying). Having the button at the top though make for a very awkward use. I suppose I could adapt if the computer were decent for anything else but its just one more irritant. But these things are just lessons for me that I learned in this process. Good things: it has a nice crisp screen It might be better at other tasks than the cheap laptop. I want to tell you all aobut how amazing hte Ryzen seven and 16 gigabytes of upgradeable ram with 1 terabyte storage drive etc. etc. are amazing. But I can't because I can't even run the computer at a tenth of its capacity because its SO uncomfortable to use and I can't use it for video calling. So I guess I'll never know. There is no way for me to see if the enhanced specs I paid for can really meet the challenge if I can barely do anything at once just because it is so physically and cognitively uncomfortable to use. Even though I use the cheap lenovo more now, the cheap one still has the fan and over heating problem (I had to go change setting to make sure the fans are always set to kick on maximum and even then I can feel the bottom getting unacceptably hot, and this kills the battery faster). I am extremely disappointed in Lenovo as a brand. I regret buying this. It was a total waste of my money.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Laptop I'm very happy with this laptop now that it has actually finally arrived. It performs great, even when running multiple programs/games and looks sleek. The keyboard and trackpad are very comfortable though it would be nicer if the edges of the laptop were slightly more rounded as they sometimes dig into my wrists a little. The fingerprint reader and built in webcam cover are nice little added touches of convenience. The fan is quiet, and it stays fairly cool even when working hard.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from By far the best laptop I ever owned. Great laptop. Extremely fast. I am a software developer so I am running a lot of applications at the same time. I am very pleased at the performance. The only issue I have is that the Function and Control keys are swapped on the keyboard, however you can swap them back in the bios.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Horrible Screen experience. Hurts eyes. Dont buy Im a huge lenovo fan with several purchases of Yoga and accessories, so I decided to splurge my precious savings (after being furloughed) to buy this expensive laptop to run a home business. More than $1100! Big mistake! Within 2 hours of usage, my eyes are hurting and Im going back to using my older Lenovo Yoga. The screen is faded and gives a horrible experience of visuals. I tried adjusting brightness/contrast. No help. Plus they donot offer chat support on this product either. I am trying to get someone to talk to me but no help. The AMD processor is better than the intel, dont get me wrong. But who cares if the screen is hard to focus on and hurting my eyes. How am I supposed to run my business with this expensive laptop? Huge mistake and no contact from Lenovo. Very disappointed loyal lenovo fan!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good product I am quite happy with my new Thinkpad t14 AMD. everything works well, the keyboard is just fantastic, the display is very nice although still not at the level of a Apple Retina display (I upgraded to the high contrast version). I really appreciated that there weren't any unwanted software or advertising preinstalled, got to work very quickly. Docking solutions from Lenovo are a bit expensive, I bought a compatible one, that is so/so. All in all I am happy
