I still have software I need to load from CD's and I like having this feature available. This unit is very compact, light weight and easy to use. I plugged the DVD Burner into my ThinkPad and it was ready to run. There was no need to load additional software.

Since many of my work programs are still delivered via CD, I needed that capacity. The ThinkPad UltraSlim DVD burner turned out to be an excellent choice: it is well designed with the USB connector cable fitting into a slot in the back of the unit so there are no dangling cables. It is a compact size and is fast. The only problem I had was when I pulled the protective coating off of the original unit, it pulled some of the finish off of the exterior. Lenovo was very quick to replace the unit - 3 business days. This is a quality producr.

Rated 5 out of 5 byCreising from I would buy one again!My old laptop was a Thinkpad, my husband has a Thinkad, and the new one I just purchased is a Thinkpad. They have all been trouble free. I like the clarity of the screens. The newest laptop did not have a CD/DVD. That makes it lighter in weight, but I did purchase the external drive to use. I recommended Lenovo to a friend who just made a purchase. I have been pleased with the quality and performance.
