Rated 5 out of 5 byVillager from A Real Step Up in Performance and ReliabilityLinksys provided me with a free MX5 with the obligation to write and post an objective review of this unit.I have a Linksys Velop mesh network consisting of three early model tri-band nodes and one wifi extender and was using a Linksys MR8300 as the mother node. This mesh network covers a three level house of about 5000 square feet. We have nearly 60 devices connected to the nework, mostly via wifi, with normally about 35 connected on a continuous basis. Some devices only require periodic communication, such as the thermostats; while others are more data intensive, for example, three AppleTVs (including 2 of the 4k model), and various music streaming devices.The network worked very well, but the node furthest from the mother node would drop out periodically. This would occasionally require a router reboot - easy to do, but inconvenient.I replaced the MR8300 with the MX5 using my existing network settings, but ran into difficulties: the wifi network worked but access to the internet did not. The Linksys customer support group determined that the IPv6 settings were preventing access to the internet. The issue was resolved by disabling IPv6, and then re-enabling it, followed by a reboot of the router.Once my setup issues were addressed, I saw an immediate improvement in system performance and reliability. The furthest node no longer drops out, and all of the devices are consistently available.I can't say whether the wifi speed is faster because I don't have any Wifi 6 devices, but reliability has certainly improved, probably because of the extended range available with the MX5.I am very happy with the improvements provided by the MX5 and would not hesitate to recommend it.

Rated 5 out of 5 byGorbaker from Great Connection Speed and RangeThis router was very easy to setup and configure.It supports all current WIFI protocols and standards.My Internet connection speed is 960 Mbps and my internal network speed is 10 Gbps. The fastest that I can connect to the router with a Ethernet 7 network cable on any single device is 1 Gbps in both directions at the same time.I am able to connect to it with my laptop at 866 Mbps on the 5G band.And to my iPhone and iPad at 560 Mbps on the 5G band.It transmits and receives on both the 2.4G and 5G bands at the same time.I suspect that I could connect faster if the client devices had better transmitters.None of my current client devices support the 802.11AX protocol.But I am expecting to upgrade my iPhone X Max to either a iPhone 11 or an iPhone 12 which do support 802.11AX.I have many smart devices in our home that are connected to the 2.4G band.And they all stay connected and work as expected.I get the best WiFi connection speed within 15 feet of the router but I can still get a usable connection even at a distance of more than 50 feet away.[everywhere in our 3,200 square foot home]

Rated 5 out of 5 byRlmarti from MX5 Great new additions.I was currently using the Velop 2 unit whole house system so I am very familiar with the equipment as well as admin and installation features of the Linksys smart app so setup went smooth. Stand alone the MX5 performed to expectations. 13 to 15 devices (active) on the network (cameras, multiple tablets TV's etc.) had no noticeable issues. Range was somewhat impacted but I added the previous nodes and further extended the range to the outdoor areas as well. The addition of 4 Gigabit LAN ports and addition of a USB 3.0 port adds flexibility and is a much welcome addition. This unit is larger than previous units but seems to run cooler and is not a distraction to the eye. I would recommend this product based on my experience with performance and reliability.

The Linksys MX5 is fast and reliable. Between myself and my family we have had over 20 devices going at once and this router handles all the internet connections without any problems. Also it is different looking as you do not have the antennaes. It is a heavey duty piece of needed equipment for me. I download movies, engineering drawing and various other types of files. The download speed is steady and fast. I would recommend this product to anyone that requires internet connection through their entire house.

Rated 5 out of 5 byRlmarti from MX5 is a beast!Upon opening the MX5 Velop I noticed the size increase as compared to my existing Linksys nodes. I also noticed the addition of of 4 LAN ports and a USB port which is a great addition/ improvement allowing for direct connect such as a printer or mass storage device via USB port. Set up was relatively easy previous experience with similar Linksys systems was helpful. Standalone the performance was as expected and provided equal or better coverage and a noticeable increase in speed. I did incorporate my existing nodes and have increased my coverage robustly throughout the house as well as large portions of front and back yard. I currently run between 12 and 20 devices on the network including cameras and smart switches and other wireless devices and have no performance or reliability issues. I would recommend this product.

Rated 5 out of 5 bybillr920 from Good CoverageSet up was easy with the app. I was also able to add a older Linksys node AC2200 from 2016 to increase my coverage and link speed allthough it really was not necessary. I have good coverage with approximately 12 devices connected. Streaming on line content is good. There is a scan feature in the app if you feel the need to have the node look for a better WiFi channel. I did not need to do any tweeks to this system, all worked good out of the box. Have been using for about 2 weeks now with no issues.

This tower greatly surpassed my expectations and seemlessly delivers 300mgb speeds evenly through most of my 3100sqft home. I merged good with the smaller nodes I previously had but the smaller nodes seemed to lower the quality of my WiFi so I removed them and went back to just this parent node and it did the trick!

Easy to view connections and users attached to network. I've been having issues with phone coverage around the house. It appears I will need to add one or two devices to get better reception for my 2100 square foot home. Need to try two to three devices to see if that helps.
