Rated 5 out of 5 by from So far so good, but quality is worse year by year Nice laptop in general. This is my 4th Thinkpad, the first one is T60, working as expected for over 10 years. Three years ago, I bought T470 and then next year I bought T580. Looks like the quality of the 2nd and 3rd one are not good as T60. The keyboard had issues after 1~2 years. The T470 is fixed by replacing keyboard, which is bought from Amazon (I ever asked for replacement via customer service, but they mailed me unmatched keyboards for 3 times). The keyboard of T580 sometimes is out of control from current observation, but rarely, so I am still watching on this issue. The newest one, T14, no issues so far, since it is used for only two months. I ever used Dell and HP, but dislike them. So Thinkpad is my current preferred laptop. But if the quality of it went down year by year, I definitely will try Surface or other brands.

Pro: Quick start up, packed with performance for a work PC, weight is good, screen is great, battery life is excellent. A powerful i5 with just enough m.2 disk space ensures you have a snappy workstation. Very thin and light and portable means I don't have to worry about my technicians dropping them because they're getting tired from the heavy brick laptop.

Like other light weight laptops it’s camera isn’t great for Zoom (and similar web based meetings but it is better than the one from a major competitor (Lenovo guidelines discourage specifying competitor’s names) which the Lenovo replaced.

I immediately put Linux Mint 20 on it as I’m now testing software and Linux is just a much easier setup for integrating with software and test environments, etc.. I got the 16GB RAM upgrade and thus far it has performed for me perfectly, 30+ tabs in browser, IDE, messaging app, multiple applications all running at once without choking the RAM or drive. Very happy with my purchase.

Keyboard is flawless and the operating system spins on the hardware with lightning fast speed. Screen is easy on the eye and battery stay cools when in use and also when charging. You can spend lots of money on a laptop or you can get an excellent machine at the T14 price and be very happy with it, and confident that 5 years from now that you'll be in a really good position.

I bought the touchscreen model and only gave 4 stars because the screen is not as bright or easily read from and angle as my previous pc. Still, I wouldn't go back.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good machine I got everything that I wanted--512gb SSD, 16gb RAM, i5 10th gen. The only thing I don't like is that the screen is matte not shiny. Otherwise, this computer functions very well, is lightweight and sleek, and good for a student with online classes. Charges via USB C, the speakers are pretty good, the camera cover is handy, and the keyboard is very comfortable. I don't use the red dot, but the touchpad is good (i bought a mouse but havent used it yet). Shipping was slow, but when I got the laptop, it was speedy to set up. No software or hardware problems yet.

It's a simplified wifi6. Tech support is for simple hardware issue. All the software has to get charged for a service. The apps launch is bit faster. Also, there's a major concern on the security -The "Lenovo Vantage" is keeping running behind. No one knows if it collects personal or business info. Don't buy it!

The configuration with 16GB RAM and a 512 GB SSD was priced far more competitively than its competitors. While shipping was delayed slightly (a week, Lenovo kept me informed. My last purchase with a major competitor was a disaster. Based on the quality of the business laptop and the customer experience we will be switching to Lenovo as our preferred provider.

I like them so much, I now own one for my home office. GReat Job Lenovo !

Not only do they *just work*; They are *officially supported* to run Linux. I can't think of a reason to ever use another laptop which does not offer this distinction.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Incredible Laptop This is the best laptop I've ever owned. The typing experience is unrivaled and full of comfort. The screen is as bright and beautiful as I could ever want even with the FHD option and 300 nits of brightness. Coming from a 15.6in laptop, the 14in screen on my T14 wasn't a hard adjustment and carrying it around is so much easier since it weighs a lot less. The performance is more than adequate when I have multiple tabs open in Edge in addition to Visual Studio which I use for programming. I love the fact that I can add more RAM and a bigger SSD in the future if I need to and I fully plan on doing that when it becomes necessary. The battery in this machine lasts a good 7 to 8 hours on one charge and I couldn't be happier because of that. I did experience one small issue after the laptop was delivered to me but it only happened once. When I charged the laptop for the first time and disconnected the power adapter, the charging light stayed on. I powered the laptop on afterward and the battery indicator on the Windows taskbar showed the laptop was plugged in even though it wasn't anymore. After charging the battery a second time, the charging light went off after disconnecting the power adapter. The battery indicator also no longer indicated it was plugged in when I powered the laptop on at that point. I notified Lenovo technical support about the issue and they instructed me how to reset the battery so I did that and the issue has not reoccurred. Regardless of that one little hiccup, I still believe this is a 5 star machine.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice enough, but stop soldering stuff to the mobo The good: - keyboard - trackpad - 400 nit 1080p display - upgradable RAM - seems to run Kubuntu 20.04 without problems - affordable damage protection plan The bad: - difficult to get to RAM upgrade slot - some RAM is soldered to the mainboard - WiFi is soldered to the mainboard If either of these fail you will need a new mainboard. If your OS doesn't support the WiFi card you will not be able to replace it.

The system goes into sleep mode on either battery or AC power, sometimes before I’ve even completely typed in my user name to log on. It’s beyond ridiculous at this point. This has been an ongoing saga since the early part of the year. I’m done with Lenovo and will be purchasing another brand.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It's a ThinkPad I have had numerous ThinkPads over the past 20 years, mainly in the T-series. This is just another excellent laptop. If you have used a ThinkPad in this (or other series), you know you are getting a serious, business-class PC. There are numerous upsides to this device. It is durable. It has excellent battery life and quick charging, the fastest I've seen on a modern laptop. It has as much power as you may need to enterprise applications, including some processor intensive applications. I love the newer style fingerprint reader and the keyboard continues to be top of the class (I'm glad they moved away from the semi-mechanical, removable keys). This machine easily powers multiple displays. It is lightweight. The only thing I do not like on mine, is the display resolution is not as high as I was used to with my last laptop, a Surface Book Pro. I liked the high-DPI of that machine, but it had it's own quirks. Anyhow, the lower resolution becomes a non-issue when plugging into displays. I have always recommended the T-series, as it never fails to disappoint. The price point is very good. I recommend buying the extended depot warranty, which is reasonable and may come in handy, especially if you travel with your laptop. I bought this as a business laptop, but I would not hesitate to buy this if I were a student or a power-user. Highly recommended.

I connect with a docking station to enable 2 monitors, so rarely use the screen when working from home. The 14" size is good enough when onsite with clients and it is light enough for when out and about.

It's much thinner and lighter than my last ThinkPad, the screen is gorgeous, and the i7 processor, 16 GB of RAM and SSD make it very fast. The only down sides are: 1. Even though both this machine and my old one both have 14" screens, this one is wider and shorter, probably to accommodate the 1920 x 1080 display. That translates into a screen that is about 1/8 smaller in overall area, and the shorter vertical dimension may limit productivity (especially for those who must contend with the horrendous ribbon in MS Office applications). 2. Since the battery is now completely internal, you can no longer carry an extra and just pop it in when needed, and replacement requires taking the machine apart. This seems to be the case with many laptops these days, and I suppose it helps in keeping the size and weight down, but it's an unfortunate trend.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from ThinkPad is always a ThinkPad Forth ThinkPad I purchased over the years and the oldest is still serving a purpose. I'm amazed that each generation get's slimmer and lighter. I'm not a huge fan of the soldered memory but this model at least affords one open slot. This could be a deal breaker if future models are sealed like a phone. Love and use the trackpoint if using the laptop alone. Saddened by the reduction of sd to micro only so now I have to keep a usb adapter for larger cards. Backlit keyboard and touchscreen are awesome add-ons. Touch finger print reader works great. Just as reliable as swipe and will be one less wear mark on case as it gets older. Purchased the docking station as well with slide ports. Little different than the press down to dock but seems rock solid providing plenty of port expansion mainly for my 2 display port monitors. Internal battery along with no upgrade cell options worried me but seems to balance power really good so far. I'd say battery life will be less for the way I use it but it's acceptable given the massive slimming achieved with this model. I expect the experience will be great as usual with ThinkPad.

I would always configure, add it to the cart and then change my mind. This time I went through with it and anlm absolutely pleased with my purchase. I did go a little crazy on customization, and although Lenovo mentioned 12 weeks for delivery, I got it in 8 weeks. Very happy with the product so far.

I got tired of the consumer level Yogas breaking all the time and the T14 is the solution. These are very durable units in a high movement and dirty environment.

It is much faster than my previous one, the battery life is substantial, it charges quickly, it's processor is much faster, it seems to stay cool and not over heat, and it has made work a big smoother. However, I don't love the keyboard. It is not the most fluid for typing and I feel like it could have an easier feeling to them. I also don't love the placement of the "PgUp" and "PgDn" keys. This might just be a learning adjustment on my part but I accidentally hit them quite frequently. These are minor details though, the biggest reason it gets 4.5 out 5 stars is because in having it only a couple weeks I already have exhibited some minor glitches and had to force some shut downs which have been concerning and disappointing. These seem to be attributed mainly to windows - which is not necessarily Lenovo's fault - but I expect them to work together well and it's been a 4/5 quality for the windows. I will have programs freeze and mile file manager not close and then not be able to close my file manager in the task manager. It has only happened a couple times but, nonetheless/

It's only been a month since I've had T14, but no problems yet as expected. You pay for what you get. I’m a high maintenance user and the T series can keep up with me. I do miss the old school IBM keyboards.

Lenovo released a new driver in February to fix the issue but this one will not work AT ALL. No one will help from support as they know its a known issue across this model and a few others. Do not buy for that reason.

I work in the tech industry and I love Lenovo/the Thinkpad line for the reliable workhorses they continue to churn out. This is the 3rd Thinkpad I've purchased as combo personal/work machine, and the first is ~8 years old and can still run Win10. So on to the things people actually care about--the keyboard is Lenovo's usual chicklet style with nice travel and reassuring click. It's great to type on, but there's one supremely annoying thing that's standard across Lenovo laptops: the backlight does NOT come back on once the screen goes off. Please Lenovo, people have been complaining about this for years, and I spent a solid 30 minutes going through menus trying to find a system fix but no dice. You can hit Fn+Space to turn it back on, but really?? Anyway... Other than that the fingerprint reader is a little finicky--at least more so than the old raised style. Just make sure your fingers/the reader are clean, or log in using another method Overall I'm very happy with this purchase, and I love how quickly it starts up with the M2 memory. I'm looking forward to getting several years of use out of this. I'm a Lenovo customer for the long term

It still works well and runs smooth, but the new one has shown a significantly improvement in performance except for the camera. That is why I subtracted one star. My face looks blurry on the camera if the room is not bright or I'm backlit. The battery can last about 6 hours, which is quite good compared to the weight of the laptop.

I bought a C-dock for all my peripherals & everything works like a charm! Lots of RAM & HD space & lightning fast! Everything I need. I’m not a gamer but I’m sure it could handle that also.

I will buy lenovo forever haha. I don't think I can go back to another laptop after this. The only annoying thing is that I under-estimated how much processing power I would need for a video editing hobby, so it's a little slow for the processing I use. (~30 minutes for a 3-4 GB video when using the standard graphics card, ~60 minutes when only the cpu is used).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from An Amazing Laptop at a Great Price This laptop is amazing. The screen is crisp and clear. The option to enable and disable a privacy filter through smart keys is great. Having a separate over the screen filter has always been an issue for me. The keyboard is soft, responsive and intuitive. Having the option to enable to function keys as either full time "F" keys or full time quick keys makes using the computer easier. Volume, brightness, and display controls at the tip of my fingers is great when I am transitioning from desk to mobile or to presenting in a conference. The processor, combined with the memory and SSD creates a fast and very responsive operating environment. I bounce between office software to presentation software and video software without delay. Sometimes, running multiple programs appears so seamless that I forget I am running them all on the same laptop. This laptop, combined with the lightning / USB-C docking station makes transitioning from my three screen desk setup to being mobile so simple that I wish I made the jump earlier. Previously, I was running at T430 with dock and the graphics card would have a melt down when I would take the computer off the dock and go from multiple displays to just the integrated display. By far, of all the laptops I have used in the past (IBM, Panasonic Toughbook and HP elitebook), this T14 is the best computer I have ever owned. Adding the docking station made it just that much better. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the T14 to anyone that needs a performance computer.

I am able to run games and cad software on it with 80+ chrome tabs in the background. The Battery lasts a very long time and the keyboard is amazing. The keys have lots of travel and the layout is perfect for people who need to get work done. This laptop is also a great laptop if you like to game or just watch media. I would recommend it to anyone.

The keyboard and screen is excellent, microphone and speaker are okay. I have an issue with freezing screens after sleep mode - this is much less the case for hibernation. Overall I like the laptop but would consider going for an "S" or x-series.

Visually it looks very comparable to its predecessor, though it is the processor and everything else that makes this sing.
