Rated 5 out of 5 by from Has made our business more efficient, allowing us to provide data to applications and customers smoothly How has it helped my organization? The NetApp solution has made our business more efficient. NetApp is much faster, and management is more effective than with the previous vendor. Infrastructure is a technical department where data must be available to our applications and customers quickly and smoothly with high availability. The NetApp solution provides that. The cost factor is an important challenge, and NetApp provides us with a positive business case because of the implementation and setup of their solutions. NetApp offers a complete environment, but we need to automate more processes. We have Ansible and VMware vSphere to automate certain aspects What is most valuable? NetApp's hot and cold storage are its most valuable features. We currently use the A series. Immutable snapshots are another advanced security feature that is positive. What needs improvement? It would be helpful if our partner organized a yearly session with my team to discuss the new feature sets on our current solutions and other ways NetApp can help us. Perhaps we are missing some information to help us make the right decision. Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch? We previously used HP. The biggest difference is that maintenance is much easier with NetApp. The solution has high performance and does what was promised. Which other solutions did I evaluate? We looked at the market and the different vendors, and we engaged in a discussion with each of them. NetApp came out best of class, so we decided to go with it. Price was a significant deciding factor. What other advice do I have? I rate NetApp eight out of 10. I seldom give out 10 ratings. Which deployment model are you using for this solution? Rated 5 out of 5 by from Performance optimization and efficient capacity improve operations What is our primary use case? Our use case revolves around performance, as we mainly use NetApp AFF A-Series wherever performance-related workload is present. When we are working with any DB-related servers or when users want to build their own databases, we prefer NetApp AFF A-Series for such applications. What is most valuable? It is easy to scale up with NetApp AFF A-Series. We do integration with StorageGRID mainly to move low-performance or cold storage into NetApp AFF A-Series. We have integrated ONTAP with NetApp AFF A-Series. The deduplication and compression options from NetApp AFF A-Series are good to use for efficient storage capacity. What needs improvement? NetApp is doing great with cloud integration; however, there may be room for improvement in integrating with existing VMware devices for better support, especially since many companies are looking for alternatives to VMware due to its escalating costs. Management is considering options such as Hyper-V or Proxmox, although Proxmox does not seem to support LUN-based storage. Additionally, some users want to avoid the expense of virtualization tools and are interested in open-source technologies, which if NetApp could support better, that would be beneficial. It would be great if NetApp could add some AI functionality for automation, as we can currently use tools such as Ansible or Chef, but having NetApp's own automated tool would be advantageous. For how long have I used the solution? I have been working with NetApp AFF A-Series since 2016. What do I think about the stability of the solution? I would rate the stability of NetApp AFF A-Series as a strong nine, although there are still some cases where improvement can be seen. How are customer service and support? Regarding tech support for NetApp, once the engineer understands our problem, they provide solutions that suit our environment; however, it is essential for the engineer to understand that our environment may differ from standard setups, which can sometimes cause discrepancies in recommendations. How would you rate customer service and support? Positive How was the initial setup? The initial setup for NetApp AFF A-Series is simple. What other advice do I have? It would be great to see some automation from NetApp. I rate NetApp AFF A-Series a nine out of ten. Which deployment model are you using for this solution? Hybrid Cloud If public cloud, private cloud, or hybrid cloud, which cloud provider do you use? Amazon Web Services (AWS) Disclaimer: My company has a business relationship with this vendor other than being a customer.Partner
