Great Monitor with one major issue
i love this monitor, but...you can't use gsync at 240hz without flickering which will given you an instant migraine. there are many threads across various forums on this topic and no the nov firmware update didn't fix it nor did the nvidia hotfix from 456.98 driver...please can someone fix this issue.

Beautiful monitor...with issues
gorgeous monitor, great colours and little to no ghosting. however, since the first time i turned it on there is a flickering display artifact for a fraction of a second anywhere between a few times a minute to once an hour. it's a series of vertical lines about 2 inches across, on the left-hand side of the screen. i've reported this and a tech came to try to replace the panel. the replacement had the same problem but worse, so he put back the original and ordered a new panel. since putting back the original my problem is worse than before - no idea if that's just coincidence.
for the extremely high price i paid for this product, i would have expected much better quality. i'm hoping that the issue can be resolved and i can enjoy this investment the way it's intended.

Nice Monitor, but has some issues
first off, this monitor is impressive and the visuals are amazing and buttery smooth. it really does immerse you in whatever you're doing.
however there is a very annoying visual glitch issue that appears sporadically on mine. whenever i'm using the monitor randomly it will begin flickering with these black boxes and color bands in a specific spot. this isn't a typical flickering due to gsync/adaptive sync, but more of like a visual glitch. very frustrating especially for a monitor of this price range.
i would only buy this monitor if you plan on doing the due diligence of testing for any defects. there's a lot that can go wrong.

Monitor is close to perfection. Support, not so.
this monitor is truly a marvel. with few compromises, it's the best in class. however, it's well known that samsung struggled with serious quality control problems on this display (a part of its disappearance from stores for several months).
unfortunately, the unit i received had a tight cluster of 4 dead (not stuck) pixels on the left third of the display.
i called 1-800-samsung within 7 days of purchase and they refused to do anything about it stating that they "don't cover physical damage".
be wary if you purchase.

Two motors two different issues.
first monitor came with a bright stuck red pixel in the middle of the screen. then started randomly flickering during games. second one worked great for about three weeks. now it make a sharp popping noise that sounds like static shock. thought it was my speakers. got new speakers and nooo its the monitor!! come on samsung! this thing is great if it works correctly. i took video after writing this review. listen at the end. it's much louder in person.

absolute terrible experience thus far. while gaming or doing anything for that matter i will randomly lose picture to the point where i can even open up the osd ... i've installed the latest firmware/driver for both the monitor and graphics card. i've also tried every combination of settings possible. new cables different power source . 120hz 240hz doesn't matter will always eventually happen. you pay this much for a product and its absolute garbage

Great potential, sub-par quality.
don't get me wrong. i love what this monitor is capable of. 5120x1440. 240hz. hdr. gsync.
the thing is: when you enable all of this, the monitor fails to meet quality expectations. flickering when gsync, hdr, 240hz is on. odd behavior with full screen gaming, forcing games to use borderless window mode.
dsc issues with both 2xxx and 3xxx series. my 2080ti has issues when it comes to flickering. mine flickers like mad when using gsync, hdr, 240hz.
don't use gsync borderless + 240hz on desktop. it will flicker while using anything that is hardware accelerated.
firmware updates for the monitor do not help with flickering.
i've contacted samsung support and have been given the run-around.
i would highly suggest not buying this monitor in its current state.

In a class of its own (w/ 1008.1 firmware)
with 1008.1 that fixes all of this monitor's launch issues, this monitor is now a must-buy and nothing beats it at its price. i can easily game at 32:9, 21:9, and 16:9 resolutions with ease, and its 1000r curve actually works for its 32:9 dimensions. 240hz at 5k res with no chroma subsampling.

decent monitor for the price. however, getting it to work 100% is too time consuming with little help documentation, or where to fine it. never had a monitor with such firmware issues, causing numerous game crashes. i've had to update it a couple of times, and now coming back to check, where is the darn firmware download? it's not in manual & download section, just drivers.

Doesn't work as inteded
the g9 would not go into sleep mode properly. after going into sleep mode it would wake up, and then repeat this process over and over again. if you're thinking that you can just turn it off and back on instead, think again. the monitor won't recognize the incoming signal from your computer and you will need to unplug and plug it back in again for it to work. these are basic functions of a monitor, i can't believe something so expensive can't do something so simple.

its sad, because now i cant sell the monitors because no one wants do buy an expensive g9 with red pixels.

Awesome curved ultra-ultrawide
this monitor is a huge beast and super impressive. it provides such an immersive experience that i cannot imagine returning to anything less. coming from 2 monitors i can still say this is worth it for a better workflow and a greater gaming experience - if you have a gpu that can essentially handle a 4k monitor.
i did receive my first monitor with 1 dead pixel and 3 pixels that probably had dust between them and the screen. after a failed attempted repair (by samsung) i was able to do an exchange which was super easy and fast. the whole process for correcting this problem was very straight forward and i am very satisfied with samsung's customer service.

Best monitor all around for my usage.
i use this monitor for modeling and gaming. it works amazing for both. it is very bright, amazingly fast, great color, the curve is really perfect for the size.
i wish they made this same monitor with a 2160 or bigger vertical resolution or even better, screen to the edge and stackable.
this monitor is the best on the market currently in my opinion.

Outstanding monitor. Great build/image quality
this monitor has increased my productivity and enabled new/accelerated workflows. love the included stand and the rgb lighting; great performance for gaming as well. two display port inputs and hdmi. i no longer need 2 monitors, although i do still use my laptop display when not on the main rig.
it's true you can't do 240hz with gsync but that's a limitation of displayport, simply not enough bandwidth on tthe cable. not sure what games these folks are playing at 5k above 120fps anyway. gsync lowers your refresh rate to your fps anyway so.....
also don't forget that hdr soaks up bandwidth as well.g

Multiple various issues vs. amazing features
There is no other monitor like it on the market. However. it has numerous issues. For me, the issue is related to running it at is full potential. A 3090 FTW3 running it at 240hz causes small horizontal scan lines. They are almost undetectable, but they are there. It gave me major headaches until I discovered them. Samsung told me they can not guarantee this issues wont occur on another monitor. I ordered a replacement monitor and it has the exact same issue.

Great for Gaming and Work
so far the monitor has been amazing. the picture quality is fabulous. though there really isn't a graphic card that can push 240 fps at the resolution for current titles its still a great experience and i have a 3090 fe.
however, when i first got the monitor it had firmware 1007.1 which meant that my monitor would not work when i changed the settings to 240hz. this was resolved with the firmware update to 1008.1.
with that said the firmware updating process was a complete nightmare . it won't be listed on the samsung us site. turn to reddit to find the location & the issue of updating!

Amazing monitor! with some issues
this is by far an amazing monitor overall, but there's a issue with scanlines. during general computer use i noticed that there are slight visible scanlines on light colors.
other times, during specific websites the screen will dim and scanlines become much more noticeable and just awful to look at. please fix this!! i'll be forced to return the monitor if it isn't fixed.

Simply amazing and not a single flaw
i received the g97 series (older run was g95). i tried a crg-9 first, but the curve was not enough and switching inputs felt clunky. with the g9, switching inputs is a breeze. even with my gtx 980 or quadro p1000 it's an amazing experience - just waiting for my 3090 to really put this g9 through its paces.
don't hesitate if you're on the fence, and don't just "settle" for the crg-9. if you have the $$$ this is the monitor to get if you want a fantastic, wide, immersive experience.
even for productivity (i.e. work) this 2xqhd easily replaced my triple qhd 27" monitor setup and even though i technically lost screen real estate, i actually have about the same amount of usable screen space, because i no longer have the bezels splitting up my view.
no regrets!

Screen real-estate + 240hz
i ordered it via best buy so that i could return it to the store if i needed to.
pros -
the refresh rate is amazing. i play a lot of my games on windowed mode so i can play it in the center and have my discord on the right and browser on the left. this leaves my top monitors free for whatever else. usually, study or work.
issues others experienced fixed by firmware.
when i plugged in i had to update in order to use 240hz, fix screen flicker in hdr, and able to turn on vrr with gsync. since update, zero issues.
cons-
it is so heavy. only real safe mount is ergotron with the ergotron g9 adapter.
waking up from sleep / idle mode 50% of the time i have to press the power/ menu button twice on the monitor for it to wake and register with my pc.

Love it, can't live without it!
the samsung odyssey g9 gaming monitor is by far my favorite monitor. primary use is for work. secondarily is for pc and xbox gaming.
i spend 9 to 11 hours a day behind the screen for work. typically i'm working in excel and several other business applications. the curve makes for easier viewing when looking across multiple applications. the screen is easy on the eyes and i do not feel discomfort from looking at the screen all day. i do have a monitor mount as i need the eye level a bit higher than the stand provides. it also clears up the desk space for my laptop to be open.
the resolution is great for video conferences. however, it is absolutely amazing for gaming. i have a custom-built pc with a titan nvidia graphics card. you have to see it in action to understand.

this would be a great monitor possible even perfect, but it is missing usb-c/thunderbolt connectivity which is critical for connecting todays modern laptops. i can't recommend this display because of this extreme oversight by samsung. for the price it should contain usb-c with powercharging like some of the other samsung displays.

Quality for the price paid
model: c49g97tssnxdc
just bought this yesterday had firmware 1006.1 on it.
with in a hour of setting it up had white 2-3inch vertical bars flickering in the middle section of the screen. i was under the assumption that these issues where fixed with the new model g97 and that the old g95 was the one that had this issue only.
like others i'm thinking of getting a refund because i don't want a exchange that a few months later starts doing this again and i'm stuck with a 1500$ disappointment.
updated: 1008.1 and still has bar flickering issues. is this a production issue or inherent flaw in design i sure wish i knew before deciding on a exchange or refund.

Impressive monitor, some scenes look ugly on it...
on the positive side: i think there is nothing like really like this. i feels so great to work on this spacious, wide curved monitor. the strong curve really makes it immersive.
however, the grey uniformity issue on mine really hurts it, sadly :(. if there's any picture on the monitor that is slightly light grey or light blue you can really see a bunch of darker spots. it looks like there's some dirty finger prints on the monitor - despite the screen being spotless on the outside. this can be distracting in some games as the dark spots stay still while the scene moves beneath them which draws my attention.

in my opinion, get it, play with it, if you don't like it, return it. doubt you will though.
if you're getting an arm, make sure it's the ergotron hx and make sure you get the hx heavy duty tilt pivot. expensive but also worth every penny.

Almost perfect
the monitor works great, especially after upgrading to 1010 firmware; however, there is one thing that irks me about this monitor. it can't do 240 hz or hdr when in 3440x1440p 21:9 resolution mode.
how can a monitor drive 5120x1440p and do 240 hz/hdr but can't do it in a lower resolution? it just doesn't make sense. i'm hoping that a future firmware enables these features, because from a tech perspective, it should be able to do 3440x1440p just fine with both hdr and 240 hz.
otherwise, i love it. it has amazing colors, fast response time, and the curve is awe-inspiring; but, if you want to do 21:9 for any of your gaming needs, just know that you will be missing two of the key features of this monitor.

great potential but QC issues
it has been a great monitor until it started exhibiting a red stuck pixel closer to the middle of the screen and another dead pixel on the left bottom corner of the screen. the corner dead pixel doesn't concern me much but the read stuck pixel does as it's in the field of view.
there is a dead/struck pixel in the right-center of the screen which shows up as a red dot on a black background color when on display. this is in the center of the screen and very visible.
any fix from samsung support to fix this would be great.
